For people who want to boycott THQNordic and Deep Silver, here are the list of games they are publishing

Shenmue's revival is one of the most underdog stories in gaming and bucks big publisher trends and Yu Suzuki is an extremely humbled individual who just wants to get back to making games again. Of all forums I see Shenmue's name on the list and this shit absolutely disgusts me. These guys have nothing to do with this shit.
How important is Shenmue 3 to you?

Ok I see I thought the problem was only using the web didn't know it goes deeper than that.
I recommend you do your own independent research and read what they posted on that shitpost of a site. If you're still going to ask questions after that, I'm not sure how to help you.

Waiting 18 years is enough to let you know
I can only answer for myself, but there is not one video game that is more important than deplatforming and proving this type of hate does not belong in this industry. If Horizon 2 came out and was published by Deep Silver, or somehow Sony decided to do a THQ and shitpost a bunch of homophobic racist shit, I'd be done with the game. It's not worth enabling these fucks for me.

I'm sorry you feel that Shenmue 3 is being unfairly attacked. I don't think it is though. I think it's just the arbitrariness of a publisher picking them up.

.
Nothing stopping Yu Suzuki or any of the developers to come out and condemn 8chan or Nordics actions. So far it's just crickets.
He doesn't care about their publishers signal boosting a terrorist site which ended up cheering the mosque attack with 49 death toll, why should we care about him?

I'm not asking these 'poor developers' to terminate their contract with the publisher, but at least say something about all this. So far, they couldn't care less.

What disgusts me is child pornography and white supremacy.

The same people in here lamenting over the loss of hundreds of developers losing their jobs are the same people here completely opposing the purchasing of games from developers who had literally absolutely nothing to do with the tragic circumstances that surrounded the publisher.

You think the folks in Japan who are developing Shenmue 3 have any relation in the slightest to the single marketing guy at THQ? And now these hardworking devs are to be punished and put their livelihood at jeopardy?

You don’t actually give a shit about developers, you never did. Find a better way to voice your displeasure.

Playing and enjoying Shenmue 3 does not mean you a right wing terrorist supporter, give me a fucking break.
I agree that playing Shenmue 3 doesn't turn you into a right wing terrorist supporter. Which is a good thing as I plan on playing that game since I pledged too much money to the kickstarter.

For the rest:
Most posters above me have pointed this out, but yes, it is not any consumer's responsibility to bolster a company if that company makes bad products or poor choices.

If you don't go to a restaurant because it has shitty food, no one attempts to argue "but the waiters have nothing to do with that! You're hurting the waiters!"

If you don't see a movie because the trailer had bad acting, no one attempts to argue "but the cinematographers had nothing to do with the acting! You're hurting the cinematographers!"

No consumer has any obligation to actively spend their money and support a product, even if by not doing so "hurts" people who weren't involved in the thing that made you not interested.

Attempting to argue this point is fucking bananas. And again, *I SAY THAT AS A DEVELOPER*.
This shit is dreadfully tired.

You lames will lambast developers and proudly scream about not buying a game over microtransactions...... Over Epic Store exclusivity.... Over DLC options.... Over fucking framerate..... Over censoring fucking anime titties and outfits and shit

Not even once you mention those "developers" you love so much. Not once do you give a damn unless they can be used as your little chip.

A few people decide to boycott a publisher over condoning a shit website and userbase and you all come shitting up the thread with your baby bullshit.

Give it a fucking break, piss out the damn thread. Transparent as fuck. Fucking corny ass gamers

Oh look, another post from somebody who hasn't even bothered to research what the fuck they're talking about that's trying to shift any culpability away from THQ.

You could've saved yourself the effort and seen that this line of thought has already been addressed

Ignoring the fact that it was multiple people, not just one, there was a post only a few above yours that pointed out that one of the people involved in the AMA is one of the most powerful people in the company.

But can you guys tell me honestly : can I actively hate Deep silver and do anything against them but still buy some of those games? Because i've waited so much on some of them and some series even changed my life.

Mórríoghain I think it's worth mentioning in the OP that some subscription services include THQ Nordic games, or potentially do:

Origin Access (Premier: Darksiders 3; Regular Tier: This is the Police, The Book of Unwritten Tales.) They do not announce when/what new games are coming ahead of time so there's no telling when more will be added (or removed).

Humble Monthly (random games, it's possible any month could contain them)

+ maybe more I'm not aware of.

I've seen enough posts from that user to know I don't think they're going to get a wake up call. They could be plainly just a contrarian or something else entirely, but I honestly don't think it's worth your time. They have had ample information presented to them and this is the tactic they've chosen.

But can you guys tell me honestly : can I actively hate Deep silver and do anything against them but still buy some of those games? Because i've waited so much on some of them and some series even changed my life.
This is a personal decision for you. I think it's plain a lot of the active members of this thread are done with the company barring some unforeseen action. I will say, I'm not sure you can actively hate something and give money to it. But perhaps a lot of people do so with government in various countries around the world, I'm not sure.

I sense that you feel guilt, so I'd just ask you are these games worth it?

Buy them used is the best way to handle this. You give them money, it'll go to the top one way or another. To THQ Nordic.

I keep seeing the perception in this thread that people are telling those that are choosing to boycott that they are wrong or are ridiculing them but couldn't find an example of this, only the opposite. There must be that opinion in the thread somewhere but the people being ridiculed for not boycotting seems much more prevalent.
Missed all those “punish the poor devs” posts? Below:

depends which games you want, there's probably different options: buy used, buy them on a different online store/platform with a different publisher, buy them when the whole thing is resolved, etc.

Thankfully, you can pause Humble Monthly if you have paid for more than one month.

Game Pass includes THQ games as well.

Because right wing propaganda is extremely effective, even on self-proclaimed leftists and centrists.

Also because people want to remain ignorant on topics that might affect their conscience or consumer habits. Especially when the topic is your new toys.
Oh my god I could not roll my eyes further into my head. There’s no point of discourse in this thread because they responses to points raised aren’t even related to what is being discussed at hand. Just reverting to the same beating of drums about the right wing propaganda which I have no fucking idea how that’s even related to anything that I said.

Please continue to shit on developers who have nothing to do with this. If a developer decided to start publishing games with THQNordic after this whole fiasco, I would certainly understand the premise of this thread.

1. You ignored the fact that you don't know the whole story. It's NOT just one marketing guy.
2. Those devs have already been paid.

Everything you have posted has already been addressed multiple times. Other parts of it (single marketing guy) are factually incorrect.

Why is it that people who have no understanding of the situation, and cannot be bothered to read what is going on, think they have the moral high-ground, and the right to shit on others who do know what is going on and care about it.

Yeah, there is. Contact Sega, Atlus, Microsoft, Obsidian, etc. Contact all of these companies that have business agreements with this company and pressure them to no longer allow their properties to be published by them until they have taken the proper steps to remedy this situation and removed those responsible from their positions.

If enough people got together and started a pressure campaign, it would have more impact than a boycott could. If sales numbers drop a few percentage points, there is no guarantee THQ executives will recognize the reason why. The could instead think the interest in the games was lower than expected.

To be fair most of the people coming up with the "but the developers" line aren't worth the time and yet I'm still responding. If it keeps this thread active it's probably worth it.

Won’t be buying anything from them now on. I’ll pickup Biomutant when I can find a used copy. The whole “it was just an individual” doesn’t fly when that individual is one of the executives. Their “apology” was shit too.

1. Small group or one person is irrelevant to the conversation about developers and how they remain innocent and completely divorced from the publisher who puts out their game. They signed contracts and deals months if not years prior to any controversy.

2. What the fuck are you talking about. You think money just magically comes out of thin air? What happens when the game sells extremely poor?Everything is performance based. Who is going to publish their next game? How many staff are going to be laid off when the funding stops rolling in, the money dries up and now no paychecks can be dolled out.

I don’t even know why I’m responding to this post. It’s just absurd.

Vire, I'd love to know what the aim of your posts is. You know the general feeling of the thread. You have posted multiple times clearly exhibiting you don't actually know the full context of this situation. I hate to automatically think you're just being disingenuous but I'm having a hard time concluding otherwise. Yes some developers would suffer under a boycott because of the actions of the publisher. It seems for a fair number of people in here, that is acceptable, because the alternative is having some of people's money going to a publisher that clearly does not mind engaging in homophobic, racist shit on a website that encouraged a mass shooter to kill 50 some odd people in New Zealand. If you don't think that's logical or acceptable, fine, that's your opinion, but clearly it's supported by logic and isn't worth the nonsense level of hyperbole you're expressing here.

yeah, I know it's a long shot. but why not give it a try? explain the situation and see how they react. maybe they'll put some pressure on THQ themselves.
I thought your first response was in jest! Wow!

Anyway, I appreciate the suggestion but I don’t think it is a realistic proposition. I was hoping that there would be a situation akin to PoE 2. Alas, it does not look like it. Guess eBay or Best Buy or EB will have to suffice down the line for an used copy.

And now their publisher tied themselves to a sight delisted from google due to child porn and the developer is now stuck with that. If people don't want to buy their games after that then the the blame lies with THQ, not the people who don't want to support a company that endorses disgusting garbage.

Stop trying to shift all culpability from THQ for what they did and stop acting like people are obligated to buy a fucking video game.

People in here still acting like the THQ heads didn't know what the fuck they were doing when they did this. But that's why their apology is so hollow. Nothing short of actually stepping down will strike me as a valid recognition of their actions, because tying the brand they manage to literal nazi pedophiles is the lowest fucking of the low bars to clear. This should be a thing that a person does almost by default without having to even think about it. As long as they are still running the company they don't deserve any generosity or acceptance of contrition, because they are only sorry people have a problem with it, not that they actually did what they did.

If the studio is not owned by THQ, look for a copy of the game sold in a region that they don't publish in. Assuming the game has all the same content as the THQ version, you can cut them out of the revenue stream completely.

Recent current events didn’t change anything. I already expressed my extreme displeasure to THQNordic on this very site in the past. I already knew that 8chan was literally the most vile place on the Internet.

It’s not like some sudden realization. Oh wow maybe I should boycott their games now that I know how bad the site is.

The OP already mentions that tbf. I assumed that when people like Vire show up going “you’re hurting the devs” they already took the information in the OP into account.

With due respect, the title of the thread explicitly negates any notion of this being a blanket requirement for every member of the forum. You do you.

OP mentions that publishing rights vary by region, but doesn't explicitly state that you should look into ordering from other regions. I wanted to specifically encourage it as an alternative way to buy a game. I hope others read the OP as you did, and take that option into consideration.

If people want to boycott a publisher for supporting a hate site, they can do that. Its 100% guaranteed that everyone in this thread bitching about that is going to refuse to buy a different product for 100% less important reason.

So what you saying right now is just deflection from the entire point. Keep trying.
