So you can only respect or admire the talent of people who's political viewpoint you agree with?
I assume this is not an absolute? So if not, where is the limit?
Agreement and sanctioning of the wholesale murder of women and children.

Gadot as a Jewish person is not white, otherwise the hate that Jewish people get in Europe or in the us would not exist. You can appreciate her talent all you want, don't ever expect some people to co-sign her being a role model or feminism symbol though.
Scarlett Johanssen had made her views about Israel clear, but she was never called a feminist icon or a role model, nobody has that expectation of her, so there's no narrative to counter, and people can enjoy her content without a reason for push back. Gal Gadot is getting push back because calling her a feminist symbol ignores women of color, particularly Palestinian women.
Well, you get what you ask for - so I should probably ask again since I was not really precise in my question.Agreement and sanctioning of the wholesale murder of women and children.
This is a nonsense argument.
Why do people like to pretend that image doesn't matter? No one cares about some Wonder Woman from the comic books or the cartoon. In mainstream culture right now, Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, and Wonder Woman is Gal Gadot. The reason why marketing and advertisement is so effective in the first place is because it understands and recognizes just how integral image is to the human experience. You do not simply disassociate the two. It's plastered everywhere on merchandise, advertisements, and even carefully conducted interviews.
The reason why you have people on this very forum, and many others, who get upset and offended on behalf of fictional characters, corporations, and their favorite gaming console is for that very reason. And by the same token, and even more so, it's why you find people getting so defensive over their favorite celebrities, actors, musicians etc. Gal Gadot is the one individual who benefits most from her portrayal of Wonder Woman. Financially, professionally, and also socially because her surge in popularity will bring about even more fans, who much like other fans, will be delusional in their defense of her.
Over the past few days, on this very forum, topics were locked about Gal Gadot in which people were posting comments about loving her, and how she was living up to Wonder Woman, or how she was their Wonder Woman. Why do you think they refer to Gal Gadot, and not Wonder Woman? Or why do they refer to them together and not separate of each other? Why do they do it with more enthusiasm now, than they did a few years ago when no one would've given a crap what she said? It's because of who she is, and that's Wonder Woman. The Wonder Woman of this generation, and she'll be that for the foreseeable future in how ever many movies Warner Bros. decides to make.
Those topics were locked because people brought up this particular issue from 2014. Because while people were singing her praises and building that image further, others felt the need to bring to light that she isn't all roses. The reason for the lock was because apparently the topics were being derailed. That is hypocrisy, and that action is a problem in itself.
In 2014, when these comments were first made, a lot of feminists were shouted down because they were "getting in the way" and that same kind of rhetoric persists today, except it's even worse now because people like to talk about how Wonder Woman is a symbol for all those young girls and women, and those feminists are wrong for trying to make her post seem like a bigger deal. And they'll post videos of some 5 year old girl crying as if that's important and a defense of that. My 4 year old nephew gets emotional over fucking SpongeBob Squarepants.
This shit is intellectually dishonest and pathetic at best.
The fact of the matter is you don't divorce the two and you cannot divorce the two because they are intrinsically linked. And it's that image which is the same reason why most of the positive discourse surrounds Gal Gadot rather than Patty Jenkins too. And it's why so many excuses are made and so much leeway is given, which would not otherwise be given. The person in front of the camera and portraying that character matters more, and tends to benefit more in general.

How do you decide where that limit is? And in your opinion, is that limit absolute or is that limit personal?
She agreed to host an event run by the Jewish National Fund this year, an organisation who's purpose is to buy up Palestinian Land and Homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and replace the inhabitants with Jewish residents. They are literally an ethnic cleansing org.I digress. I can't judge a person's character by three year old hashtags
so sad to see people dedend the inexcusable actions of israel against palestinians, equate the actions of israel and palestine in this conflict, calling hamas terrorist group just because israel (and by extension us) considers them one (i know hamas isn't fully innocent).
i can't blame gal gadot much, a lot of times nationalism makes people unable to think for themselves and judge things fairly

this just shows that with enough money, enough influence and enough political power how much you can get away withOn the point of her comments in 2014. She repeated the unproven claim of hasbarists that Hamas used women and children as human sheilds. This is generally said in order to justify Israel murdering said women and children with rockets.
If a palestiinian had made the same post from the exact opposite position, there is a zero percent chance they would be able to have any sort of Hollywood career.
it's a little different to be "racist" (your word) towards people who are killing your people, occupying your lands and have the ultimate goal of cleansing the land of any Palestinians. your apology was very poor, but let me go along with it. it would be the same as expecting the jews at that time to have favorable views towards germans, and any who didn't to be called racist.

Her views are disgusting, especially when she tries to put out the nonsense claim that Palestine are using human shields when her side are the ones engaging in the wholesale slaughter of children.
"nonsense claim"
Hamas used human shields right in front of the international press. Some of them had it on camera, e.g. the Indian NDTV (Report and video) and France24 (YouTube; Report on France24).
Combined with the fact that she wrote her post during or right after thousands of people died, a lot of women and children included, which were "human shields" (so it's absolutely ok, amirite?) this is absolutely disgusting. On the point of her comments in 2014. They all benefit from the white supremacy.Ashkenazi Jews are definitely white.
"otherwise the hate that Jewish people get in Europe or in the us would not exist"
So, Irish people are not white? East Europeans are not white? The French are not white in the eyes of the Brits? The Brits are not white in the eyes of the French? Nazi Germany was not white in the eyes of rest of Europe? Rest of Europe was not white in the eyes of Nazi Germany?
There's no global white brotherhood to which every white person gets registered when he's born - and he loves every member there as his own brother, enough with that idiotic narrative.
i'm not defending anything, read my post. by that definition the entire country of israel should be considered a terrorist nation."people who are killing your people, occupying your lands and have the ultimate goal if cleansing the land of any Palestinians"
Where are you taking this from?
Also, are you seriously defending the killing of babies by Palestinian terrorists because their parent allegedly plan those things? (make no mistake, when the IDF has civilian casualties, it's as repulsive).
I find as much fault with her views on the IDF as I do with my dad supporting US troops as an ex-military man himself. In other words, no fault whatsoever. I respect it.
and the Israeli killed those women and children? good to know"nonsense claim"

Look, that's not the problem here. She can meet her president and shake hands with him. I definitely won't shame her for something like this, because that doesn't equal to endorsing the states politics.
Right, I remember how much Europe benefited from white supremacy just 70 years ago.
Where are you taking this definition from? Do you know anything about the roots of the conflict? Hamas is the aggressor, had they just stopped attacking exclusively civilians, and either pushed for diplomatic relations or held true warfare against the IDF (and IDF only), the Palestinian side would come on top because of Israel's misdeeds.i'm not defending anything, read my post. by that definition the entire country of israel should be considered a terrorist nation.
Israel doesn't target civilians and only kills when neccessary, unlike Hamasi'm not defending anything, read my post. by that definition the entire country of israel should be considered a terrorist nation.
Using the hashtag "#weareright" and "#freegazafromhamas" show that she chose a side, not merely supporting her nation generally, but specifically in its extermination of Gazans.
done with this thread, can't argue with some of the disgusting views being expressed here.Israel doesn't target civilians and only kills when neccessary, unlike Hamas

I'm a Turk myself.Would you feel the same way if an American celebrity did the same with Trump?
It's not a view. It's a factdone with this thread, can't argue with some of the disgusting views being expressed here.
It's not a fact, we both know that Israel retaliates with extreme force causing civilian deaths even when they aren't forced to, but I believe he was referring to the part where you said that some killings are necessary.
It's a fact that you have abhorrent views.
Do you not think some killings are necessary?
I'm a Turk myself.
I would say the same if a turkish celebrity would shake hands with Erdogan.
It doesn't prove anything.
Did you even understand what he wrote?
The poster's comment implies all of the killings are necessary.
I don't know, if you Google Hamas war crimes, there are a lot of articles stemming from 2014 (same time as this tweet people take issue with) about Hamas killing Palestinians. So it's not that surprising for her to feel a certain way.done with this thread, can't argue with some of the disgusting views being expressed here.
They shot rockets from civilian areas in a tiny strip of land almost entirely made up of civilian areas. Every gorilla organisation in history has employed these tactics."nonsense claim"

Israeli-Palestinian conflict aside, how do you deal with an enemy that believes that your death is absolutely necessary then? The poster's comment implies all of the killings are necessary.
And no is my answer.
