Thanks for the offer but I will be buying one soonish. The main problem is that bro headsets in the uk are more expensive than us counterparts, plus scalpers are selling them high at the moment even for used headsets.

I'm going to watch about the first 2 hours of gameplay, then I'm out. Hopefully it'll come it on PSVR in the near future.

In the meantime, Astro Bot is keeping me well entertained.

Probably the dumbest question, but where do you change these SteamVR settings? Do you need to be wearing a headset to access them, or can you do it directly on your PC?

I have a 2080 ti / 9900k at home but I'm with family during this work from home time so I only have my laptop which has a 1070 / 8750 which should be able to run Alyx okay - fingers crossed.

Laptops and VR often don't play super nice together.

Give it a shot but if I were you I would just wait until I got back to my beast rig at home.

On top of getting a new HL game in VR, this could be an incredible platform for VR once modders start to use it.

Just look at how diverse the mod scene was for the previous half life games.

Yeah and I think 'much better' for V2.0 is an understatement. It's now leaps and bounds ahead of any other reconstruction technique.

I've put in so much overtime working from home the last week, I just pinged my boss to tell him that a video game that I want is coming out at 1pm, so I will be unreachable, lol.

Just realized my system doesnt have enough RAM--DOH!

Min requirements are:
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Core i5-7500 / Ryzen 5 1600
  • Memory: 12 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GTX 1060 / RX 580 - 6GB VRAM
I have:
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GTX 1070 (8GB)
  • Mobo: Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe
1) Is my CPU too old? I tried finding comparison charts, but had no solid luck.
2) I need more RAM! Is the Crucial website still good for finding compatible RAM automatically? If not, who is better? Corsair still awesome?

I'm sooooooo bummed! :(

So freakin excited and so lucky to be on a freelance work schedule, so I can just play all day.

Also a bit nervous some VR technical issue will hold me up, but I should be fine. Oculus Quest with Link, i9 9900k and RTX2060. I want to skip the next hour of my existence and get going!!

Gonna try to play this standing. Will wear my running shoes so my feet don't hurt after hours 😂

Depending on how replayable the game is I could see people spend a lot more than that. Like maybe close to 40+ hours. I know some already did that for Boneworks and WD: Saint & Sinners.

My Oculus Rift is ready, and I've got my VR legs finally in the las few weeks playing Asgard's Wrath and The Walking Dead, so I should be good.
