Yep. Its been 7 months. When I see a movie I dont like I move on. Its just insanity at this point to still feel the need to rant in every last SW thread.I see the TLJ hate brigade is going to make keeping up with Episode 9 news impossible to stomach, just like everything else about TLJ on the internet.
Sorry you didn't like the best Star Wars movie, boys. JJ will dumb it all right back down for you, I'm sure.
For a direct sequel not to bring back previously featured characters, apparently. Which is unreasonable because the point of sequels is to continue a preceding story, and the first two parts of the sequel trilogy already brought back a bunch of classic characters.
Sorry to patronize you with such a basic explanation, but you asked.
How you doin' Chewbacca? Still hanging around with that loser?
Dedicated to those that still complain about blue/purple hair:
I am seriously baffled by these posts. I mean did no one watch Star Wars since 1977? They been killing off main hero characters since day one. Nearly all the good guys in the kids show The Clone Wars got offed one by one in the films.
Do you REALLY want to turn this into a super hero franchise where everyone has plot armor?
LMAO, this needs to happenLando goes on a suicide run with chewie, threepio and r2. The falcon explodes and everyone dies
Let the past die
Opening crawl.
Ahh the classic strawman argument, I'm sure you have very reasonable and well thought out opinions lol.I hope Lando saves the galaxy/universe whatever and Rey and Kylo die. Is that subvert-y enough for some of you?
What strawman? It's what I want from IX. Let's just go balls to the wall subvert-y I've come around to you guys side.Ahh the classic strawman argument, I'm sure you have very reasonable and well thought out opinions lol.
The fact you keep claiming that people like TLJ because of subversion for the sake of subversion. What strawman? It's what I want from IX. Let's just go balls to the wall subvert-y I've come around to you guys side.
But there is a contingent of "lol, cry moar nerds!" TLJ fans. So I'm partially right about the subvert-y thing. The fact you keep claiming that people like TLJ because of subversion for the sake of subversion.
That's not the same at all lol. .But there is a contingent of "lol, cry moar nerds!" TLJ fans. So I'm partially right about the subvert-y thing.

The cry more is against hyperbolic people that shit on the movie without an ounce of thought or actual analysis.
I'm going to have receipts for that because the most I see is more things like hoping Rose has an even bigger role (especially because of the pissed off misoginists and alt right peolpe screaming SJW all the time.It is though because they're all like "Yeah, subvert-y subversion! Take that you nerds!" not realizing they are nerds too.
Most of you are so grumpy. I wonder if when your first child is born you'll scream out "Great, another irritating character to add to the cast. Hope Abrams knows what he's doing with this one".
So far, this is the only reason I have to watch IX after what TLJ was. JJ Abrams doing the lord's work, salvaging this absolute trainwreck.
I wonder if some day these people will be in an actual train wreck. And realise that, no, not even metaphorically is Luke Skywalker grumpily milking an animal "a trainwreck".
It would be cool if he walked back stuff from Vlll and IX was real fan service-y just to upset the other half of the fandom. I wouldn't put it past him, obviously not for the reason I stated.BILLY DEE!
I'm down. Abrams will likely be more safe and blockbustery, but it'll be interesting to see him do an ending and how he ends this trilogy.

"He was into it. And I remember that I pitched him the story at the very beginning, and he had notes, but he wasn't like, 'Oh my God, what the hell are you doing?' [Laughs] No, he was into it because I think he was into the storytelling. He's a great storyteller himself and he saw the potential of each one of these beats. I think he saw it for what we were going for, which is not... we weren't going for, 'Let's subvert a Star Wars movie.' We were going for 'Let's make a great Star Wars movie that has things in it that will push the limits of what we can do.'"
Asked if fan outcry would at all impact his vision for the upcoming film, Abrams was clear. "Not in the least," he said, adding, "There's a lot that I would like to say about it, but I feel like it's a little early to be having the 'Episode IX' conversation … I will say that the story of Rey and Poe and Finn and Kylo Ren — and if you look, there are three men and one woman, to those that are complaining that there are too many women in 'Star Wars' — their story continues in a way that I couldn't be more excited about and cannot wait for people to see."
Abrams has weathered this sort of blowback before. "I think everyone is going to have their point of view," Abrams said. "Certainly something I discovered early on in the 'Star Wars' world, is that you're going to have an incredibly passionate and vocal fanbase, and they're all going to have a lot of specific opinions."
That's fair I suppose. It was sarcasm. I wasn't really asking you to tell me what i want.
I actually don't mind too much them digging up these characters from their tombs, it's the way they're being used that i don't care for.
I doubt he will. Abrams was down with it.

Folks tend to forget that Abrams was the executive producer on TLJ. He was there for the whole thing. He essentially the same thing with Johnson did with Luke, with Han first. Maybe he'll mess with the parentage thing, but most of that stuff, he probably won't touch. He'll just go blazing to the end in a film that feels emotional resonate, but probably won't make a ton of sense on repeat viewings. It's his oeuvre.
You'll probably get a Force Ghost of Luke. *shrug*
This also raises the question of if Solo is gonna have ripples into IX.It would be hilarious if Lando outlived everybody. Subvert them expectations.
