I go with the flow of traffic. Insisting on driving at some set, arbitrary speed is not only really weird, but also a great way to cause accidents if that speed happens to differ enough from the general flow.

Wouldn't the easiest way of having everyone travel at the same speed be to stick to that 'arbitrary speed' then to ask people to constantly break the law to stick to the random speed that everyone else on the road has decided to drive at?

15mph over the speed limit or as fast as the car in front of me (incorrectly thinking I won't get pulled over as I'm just going with traffic lol). I've yet to be pulled over for speeding though, knock on wood.

65 to 70.. the same as everyone else in NY. Until they see a cop, then we all drive 54.

..then the cop pulls off the highway and we all go 80+.

edit:
55mph is the limit here, FYI.

go with the flow. or when it is safe a bit more. but then again i often go 60ish in the right most lane.. also there is a stretch near bouts where people do 90+, i've hit 120 on it.

I can't answer the poll because I drive in countries with very different limits.

I usually follow the rate of traffic, or if there is no traffic, ~110% of the limit, or limit + 10km/h, whichever is lower (assuming good driving conditions).

I was driving in France last month, where the limit is a reasonable 130 km/h (80mph), and I might have maxed out at 150 km/h (~93mph), but for the most part I was just below 140 (~87mph).

Then this past weekend, driving in Japan where the limits are absurdly low, I was driving between 100 and 120 (~62–75mph) on highways limited between 60 and 80 (~37–50mph), because that's what the rate of traffic was (nobody follows the speed limits in Japan).

As fast as the car in front of me will let me drive. Usually that's about 80~ish around here, but I'll do more if I can get away with it, although my car isn't in any real shape to be throwing itself around at 100+ with any regularity.

Man I would cry my ass off everything I got on the freeway if the speed limit was 55! Like everyone said I'll follow the flow of the traffic in the fast lane and that's usually 75 mabey 80

10 or 20 over the speed limit, so about 70 to 80mph. The crazy thing is that some idiots still pass me like fucking maniacs even at those speeds.

I mostly drive at night when nobody else is around. 10 over the limit before midnight. 15 over the limit after midnight. Otherwise I'm just keeping up with everybody else.

Speed limits on the two freeways I drive on are 55 and 60.

Edit: Seeing speed limits of up to 80 mph in this thread and that seems wild.

The same speed as most of the rest of traffic. Speed limits here are 55 and 65, so actual speeds are usually 50-70 mph—usually closer to 50 than 70. If the road is mostly empty, then I'll go 10 over, so 65-75 or so.

Which is why no one does the limit cause it's stupid as shit. Thanks de Blasio!

Honestly, unless they're posted on the side of the highway with radar/laser devices and that's literally their jobs, cops don't even give a shit unless you're going 20+ over or doing something ridiculous like swerving in and out of traffic. I've routinely overtaken cops doing 65 and they don't blink an eye. You just have to get by that wall of assholes that spread across all lanes right behind the cop doing 54 cause they don't want to be the one that tests their luck.

People generally go 65+ on the highway with a 55 limit and 40+ on the streets with a 25 limit.

About 100-110kph when I drive the highways here in Japan. Maybe faster if I feel like it.

75mph or so back when I lived in CA.

Between 65-75, going with the flow of traffic unless the flow of traffic is 80+ which then I make sure I'm not in the left lane.

The fastest I have driven in my country is 240 km/h or almost 150 mph for a short acceleration bit, just to check out the tune I did on the car, the max limit generally is 90 km/h (55 mph) and some roads have 100 km/h(62 mph) . The average speed I hold when abroad in Poland/Germany/Austria/Italy is 130 km/h(80 mph) where permissable and max up to 150 km/h (93 mph) where no limit, While cruising. I don't have a problem with speed, as I am always sure of my cars technical situation. But as I have now got a more of a family car and I have sold the sporty car, I have mellowed out a lot with age. And generally just drive 10 over the limit like everyone.

5 over, which is 80mph on my freeways. In general I'll drive 5 over everywhere, with the one exception being neighborhoods.

Around 78. Speed limits around me are 70, tho. My work car (which I use primarily) has a GPS narc in it that will tell on me if I go 10mph over for longer than a minute or so.

The cops in the rural areas around me are fucking sharks, also. I barely go over the limit at all in certain areas because they're so ridiculous. Never had a speeding ticket in my life until moving here. Two in a year or so after, in the exact same stretch of road.

Usually around 5-10 over the speed limit depending on where I am and whether or not I'm failure with the area.
