My dentist does that too. It's awesome, except it's usually on TRU or HLN or A&E or some bullshit

Zingers aside, yes my dentist does this and it's awesome. It's pretty great to have something besides the fact that they're fucking around inside my mouth to think about. To this day I've never been offered nitrous oxide so I guess this is kind of the replacement.

Huh, I get to stair at the ceiling with a paining of the beach and listen to easy listening soft rock while my teeth and gums are being poked and prodded.
My dentist allows you to watch DVDs of your choice. I go with documentaries, to avoid laughing while they work.
Mine just asks my how my life is going, well mate if i'm standing this close to you and you're sticking those machines deep in my mouth i've gotta be doing something wrong.
Dang, and I thought I was lucky because my dentist played a radio station that wasn't complete ass usually.
Also just to elaborate, the tv was on an arm and I was looking straight up at it w a set of Bluetooth headphones

My dentist starting doing this 15-ish years ago. Can't quite remember exactly, but it was a while ago. It was cool at first, but honestly just felt like more of a hassle after a while and now I don't use it.

I wouldn't call it "crazy shit." My dentist gives me free treatment, which I would argue is a crazy good deal. It's the NHS and because of various factors (primarily age) the ÂŁ20.60 charge per session is waived.
Usually my dentists have a radio show in the background. It's not that bad.

I remember my dentist offering to turn on the TV and realizing that a Republican Primary Debate was on at the same time. Suddenly the trip to the dentist did not seem so bad.

My dentist's office pumps me full of laughing gas each time and has a TV screen hanging from the ceiling to let me watch.
