Nothing of this resembles Phantasy Star OR PSO. I wonder what other classic JRPG is going to get a bizarre mobile sequel. We already have this, Breath of Fire, and Mana (or is that a remake?). Lufia? Lunar? Suikoden? Ogre Battle?
This makes me feel sick.
The original game's artwork was so awesome.

Looks pretty good, if it ever comes to the west I'll give a chance.
Once again, mobile is the future. It's time to accept it.
Mobile games will never need to be my future because of all this backlog.Hand cramps, crummy mechanics, gacha shit and games usually being shut down in 2 or less years?
Can be your future, sure won't be mine. Shame about phantasy star.
This art is vomit-inducing. It wasn't enough that they ruined Shining Force huh. >_<
Life is easier if you pretend Sega closed when Sammy bought them. Also it doesn't take that much pretending.
It is anime world. There is no threat to people with less clothes on.
lol, this is from PSUblog's article:The further I scrolled down the more disgusted I got.
'Idol'a
That artstyle
That flash-game looking battle screen
Lol. Derp. Alright scratch that.lol, this is from PSUblog's article:
"Fans of the Phantasy Star series will recognize staples of previous works, such as [Idola], the ominous term that has come to be associated with the music of Dark Falz."
Granblue Fantasy and Platinum's World of Demons actually look drastically different from most gatcha gamesEvery mobile gatcha game looks the same. Do Japanese mobile developers ever innovate beyond the 'Lets see if we can gets some whales for our product!"
Seemingly, Sega often produces dissimilar games on mobile for several franchises like Soul Reverses, Border Break or Shin Megami Tensei (I'm not sure for the last one). This art is vomit-inducing. It wasn't enough that they ruined Shining Force huh. >_<

Also, what's up with female characters having that little thing on one of their legs ?
Is there a hotline where I can call and complain about this game?
This could be easily mistaken for a modern Shining game even. (._. )Oh hay. Now PS fans can feel what us Shining fans have felt for ten years.

He pretty much refuses to play PC games for some reason. To be fair, PC gaming to someone who has avoided it all their life seems super overwhelming. Can anyone please explain to me, why every western fan acts as if PSO2 is some super unreachable japanese exclusive? Is there some sort of religion that forces people to pretend that a constantly updated, piss easy to install english translation that has all of story, quest objectives and UI completely translated, as well as ship2 server that is crawling with westerners you can talk in english with, doesn't exist?
SEGA's had a rough few years every now and then, but let's not get crazy. Some of their RPGs are wonky and Sonic Team is still fucked, but the majority of SEGA's current releases are excellent (masterpieces, even) and in the recent year they've done a great job at focusing on games for their longtime fans.Life is easier if you pretend Sega closed when Sammy bought them. Also it doesn't take that much pretending.
I went to check out this game on Steam. Then realized it was already in my library.Besides Cosmic Star Heroine, there seems to be at least one upcoming game that seems to follow the classic Phantasy Star aesthetic.
Seriously, that place looks just like Palma.
Interested to know if there are any other games that borrow heavily from the classic Phantasy Star look.
On-topic: I didn't expect anything and I'm still disappointed.

That was my exact thought too. Holy shit the art looks awesome, then it transition into aweful generic anime.

This is in no way awful or "generic anime". t's not because it's modern that it's trash.
It's a manga artist working on it either way.
Well, for sure it isn't. It's not the 90s anymore. Not like that type of art from the 2000s wasn't already there at the time.
I don't play mobile games. Mobile games still are the future because it's the biggest gaming market on every country.
And JRPG have a big market in japan in mobile as well with many older audience playing on it with those games that they played when younger but now on their phone.
Sammy and Sega merged, no one was bought. Sammy has nothing to do with it at all, it's on Sega.
The structure is like that:
Sega Sammy Holdings
Sega Holdings Sammy
Sega Games
But it is still in Early Access. Is it worth playing or better to wait for full release (when?)?
