Gordon Murray Automotive

Finally it's here. The T.50 from Gordon Murray Design. The new absolute benchmark for sport cars.

Weight: 986kg
Engine: Cosworth V12 / 12.000 RPM
Ground effect aerodynamics with a fan interactive aero system (FIAS)

Much more available here: http://gordonmurrayautomotive.com/assets/documents/mqJO60hV/Gordon_Murray_Automotive_T.50_supercar_technical_specification_4_August 2020.pdf

These specs are incredible.

I'm afraid that car would go flying off the track being that light.

(I'm sure it's been engineered to prevent that)

Gordon has always tried to keep his cars as light as possible. It's incredible that he was able to keep the weight under 1000kg. The average sport cars weight is like 1400-1500ish kg.

For comparison the 720S is 1400kg DIN weight.

This is insane.

PWR will be crazy, although it does remind me a *lot* of recent McLaren's with a whacking great fan on it.

Fascinating video, hearing Mr. Murray speak on the design decisions/considerations.

I love that he "throw shade" at other manufacturers.

Gordon used the fan to generate downforce and kept the car clean without any impact on the design. Just look at what Mclaren did on the other hand:

That weighs just a little more than my Elise, but has a V12! Not to mention it's also naturally aspirated and a 6 speed manual (also 12000 RPM is insane for a road car)! /drooling.gif

I want it!

If I was rich :(

The trasmission is unreal as well. Murray went all in for real. I doubt anything will come close to this car for years.

Sound incredible. Can't help but chuckle at the irony of a road legal car that you can't race. Usually it's the other way around.

Enjoy. Great podcast in general tbh.

Only reason he made the first paddle shift f1 car was becase he wanted to get rid of the linkage from the gearbox to the gear stick. That they ended up shift gears in the blink of an eye was just happy coincidence.

That headlights is too big imo and hideous.. but its a great packing a v12 on such a short car

I think fan cars are illegal in racing, right?

But it's an awesome concept. Must be a lot of fun to drive a car that can do that.

the true successor to the f1

not sure the styling will age as gracefully, but it is cool to see a car from gordon murray again
