Sure seems like it. I mean, I would too if I had the talent. Seems like a chill ass way to make a living, drawing tiddies.

I get thousands of dollars a month from a furry porn patreon, my furry porn book royalties pay for all my Bill's, I sell random designs for several hundred dollars for a few hours worth of work and I get commissions of over 1k fairly regularly.

Ppl make fun of me for being a furry porn artist but fuck it. I'm having fun and I'm getting paid.

I got industry work from mutual smut peddlers. Furry porn pays more than me being a rando for marvel.

I can't imagine anything more tragic than having to draw furry shit to survive even if you aren't into gross stuff like that.

I don't watch porn, but someone told me to search up ZONE news on YouTube for some good funny animation. Is that ZONE the same person? It had this purple haired girl.

Yes.

100% some of the best Art I have seen in online circles is NSFW, it takes more skill than most people realize, at least the tasteful stuff.
Sure, I totally agree with that in the sense that you need good fundamental to do lewd work well. But there are plenty of good work out there who gets 0 exposure because its not fan pandering.

I had a phase of doing that a decade ago, but was never really prolific enough to make any money off of doing it. I occasionally got requests for possible commissions that I always turned down.

It's usually a good way to gain a following. NSFW Patreons make stupid amounts of money

If you just want an audience, drawing appealing fanart for popular series seems to do the trick. If you want money, it seems NSFW is the way to go. I've heard some people say they pay bills with their NSFW commissions, usually furries or obscure fetishes (or just really skilled people who can churn out quality pieces quickly). Some people say they hate being pigeonholed as a NSFW artist, and people who got attention drawing fanart sometimes say their original stuff gets less likes, retweets, etc. I think there's probably a balancing act where you can make sure people are always cognizant of the idea that your output isn't all fanart or NSFW, and of course if you like NSFW go full tilt with that, lol. As far as getting professional jobs, I don't think drawing NSFW is going to be a problem. Even some Disney animators have drawn a lot of cheesecake or porn, just keep a professional portfolio or your NSFW art account separate if you think it'll be a problem.

I'm a fledgling artist so this is mostly what I observe or have heard more successful artists say.

Can anyone provide advice on how to monetize their art? I'm pretty good at drawing, but how do I get people to pay me for my work?

Make a nifty Patreon page, lock some really juicy stuff behind a low paywall, and bam! Money out the wazoo!

Obviously there's other factors to consider though, like level of output.

If you are looking for just a max number of followers probably not. BUT if you got talent you can definitely make a solid income with it through commissions and things like patreon. Some artists can make thousands of dollars on a commission for a single drawing, on top of make hundreds or thousands more monthly through patreon. Now this isn't to say these results are any where near the norm, but it is possible. If I had talent and had to choose between doing erotic art or being a twitch streamer I would definitely choose the former.

Well, first is that you have to advertise your work. You are your own marketing team. It's something that you never really let up. Next is use various platforms to show your work. I use Tumblr, Twitter and Pixiv for my stuff. Another important thing is that you should draw because you want to and you shouldn't be discouraged because you're not getting people's attention fast enough. It takes time for some while it's faster for others, just don't let that dissuade you, draw with a passion.
Always learn and practice and try new things, getting stuck in a rut is a common problem for artists to get into. And connections is important too. Being friends with other artists is all around beneficial for exposure and overall inspiration.
Obviously I go under a different name because I draw nsfw stuff but honestly I don't make money from it. I do it for fun and I draw what I want to draw. And be thankful to the people that do like your work. I love it when people enjoy my stuff.

It was for years but now Patreon has a policy against incest so it's a matter of time before they hunt those down.
Wow. I didn't know that it was that bad. I mean I heard that incest is kinda popular in some forms of entertainment apparently but I didn't know it got that big.

After seeing the amount of money possible, I'm thinking about jumping into the NSFW side of things. Drawing for sketch card and comic book companies pays pretty shitty, and I got no problem drawing some T&A.

You aint fucking lying there.
Its ridiculous how low pay is for stuff like comics and animation, you basically have to go independent to make a living doing art.
Its no wonder why all the young talent goes directly to Patreon, traditional media dont pay for shit.

I feel like Plague of Gripes makes a lot for a relatively SFW artist. As far as I can recall, he's only drawn creepy or sexually suggestive content (mostly both... at the same time) but never full-on porn. Helps that his animations and art are both good and funny, though.

Oh gosh lol!

I think I'll just stick with the little news things she does on YouTube haha.

Haha fair enough! Zone-sama (artist) makes a lot of high quality NSFW animations, but they also make a lot of fun and quirky content that's safe (like the YouTube news thing you mentioned).

Yes, they hired them because his Skullgirls flash was so on point with the style.

Funniest thing is that the actual narrator/system voicr also did the voice in the skullgirls flash

Still wish Zone-tan as a SK character was real.

On the topic. I guess it is a way to get noticed especially when you are really talented and man there are a lot of talented artists that draw mostly nsfw stuff

At the very least, do you have a commissions information page that lets people know they can pay you to receive nice, shiny personalized arts? There's a lot to think about when it comes to pricing, but don't sell yourself short. If you're using twitter or something, make your top/pinned post an example of your work and link to your commission info.

Patreon is another way to go about it, but setting those up and making tiers that appeal to people (as well as making sure you have a steady output of both public and patreon-only work) seems like it takes some work, but some people are doing very well there so look into it.

It's unfortunately been prevalent enough that it's hard to find a competently-made erotic game that doesn't feature it, even if just as an optional side-quest.

I can only imagine how haunting the inbox is for an artist doing NSFW commissions.
Depends on your content/skill level.
The more professional your work is, the better clientele you get.
If you draw like MS Paint garage circa 2000, expect to get more diaper orgy request and inflation commissions.
