Don't love me quietly...do it with intensity....

The last great Bond game from Eurocom. Arguably the GOAT Bond game. Released on PS2, GCN, and Xbox: Nightfire took everything great about Goldeneye and amped it up even further. Amazing singleplayer with diverse locales, objectives, weapons, and gadgets! Can't forget the gadgets. Briefcases with deployable machine gun drones, electric shaver stun grenades, car key tasers, camera lighters, laser watches...goofy bond gadgets are the best!

The multiplayer got even crazier! Classic aiming (no iron-sights), interesting maps (battling it out on ski lifts), fun weapon sets, rc-controlled death machines, grapple, and fully customizeable BOTS.

Here's some obligatory gif dumps. Discuss!

This game is ridiculously good and doesn't get The appreciate it deserves. I love all the 007 games, they're all great.

The opening mission was awesome.

The best Bond game in a post-Goldeneye era and nothing has come close to it since (well, Everything Or Nothing was grand).

I have played it on the GameCube at the time and yes, it is a good game.

But BY FAR, Everything or Nothing is the best James Bond game for that generation IMHO. The cooperative was insane and the single-player content was also replayable as hell.

I preferred Underfire (mainly for the "open world" car mission), but Nightfire was a fantastic game for its time.

Yes

I played the ever-living heck out of this on GameCube back when it came out. I always just assumed I was weird for thinking it was the GOAT 007 game. I recently bought it again for OG Xbox and with a couple of control tweaks it holds up well today too. I don't have much to really add on to what you've said, just that I wholeheartedly agree

Played the hell out of this when I was younger. Loved the castle mission and realising there were other ways in .

Also the later mission with the crossbow where you could stealth for large parts of it.

Great game .

Will never happen but I'd love a HD collection of the PS2 Bond games!

Unfortunately Nightfire's grappling hook was significantly nerfed from Agent Under Fire, which does take the package down a peg.

My brother and I played the MP to death. Love the game, but I actually prefer Everything or Nothing over Nightfire. It's the only Bond game that actually made me feel like I was playing a Bond movie

Somewhere.
This was a childhood MP game for a long while. Such a freaking blast.

SP was good too, and I still have fond memories of sneaking into the castle at the beginning (hell that whole part of the game really).

I played way more Agent Under Fire than this, so I can't really compare the two, but I remember really liking the Agent Under Fire multiplayer maps. My friends and I weren't that competitive, and would spend a lot more time just messing around in the maps rather than worrying about killing each other.

Nah.

The PC port was terrible. Used the Half Life engine but had really basic bugs like the animations in the weapon model being in the wrong order, so you drew your gun every time you fired the P90. Cut out all the setpieces and vehicle missions and added one really boring office level.

I replayed the GC version around Xmas and it was a so-so completely forgettable game that got boring fast. Everything & Nothing and Bloodstone are way better.

I used to do overnights of the multiplayer with my buddies in elementary school. It was so cool. There were also so many classic Bond characters. I distinctly remember the snow level with a castle. Such great memories with this game.

Agent Under Fire, Everything or Nothing, and this were all really good games.

Good game, but I liked Everything or Nothing and Goldeneye (Wii) a lot better.

I loved loved loved this game back in the day, it's so good! I would be so happy if we got a remaster for this.

i didn't play the campaign part, but my brother and I had a lot of fun playing co-op vs bots in the multiplayer mode. Mostly on the map with the cable car between the chalets, where we'd "defend the bar".

Me and my friends still bring this out once or twice a hear. It's still so much fun! I'll never forget chasing people around with the guided rockets through that cabin and castle map in the Op.

Agent under fire's multiplayer was great too. Tuning it on low gravity, jump bionics and grappling hooks made it so fucking fun .

Absolutely loved the game on ps2. I still fondly remember the opening stage playing stealthy with the pistol

Good timing: I'd just mentioned this game in another thread for the same reason I always do, that it was the last console FPS with dual-stick aiming I remember actually enjoying. Really the one and only successor to what GoldenEye represented, as the thread title accurately claims, even if it wasn't quite as configurable as a party experience. Camping with sniper rifles seemed a bit overpowered on certain maps, but we were all poor players back then, so of course it would. Single-player was serviceable too, even if it was mostly framed around the multiplayer maps with some differences in entrances, exits, and symmetry. I think this game's reputation got lost in the shuffle back in the day simply because that was the era when Halo was king, and even specialist attention gravitated towards other series like TimeSplitters (which I was never able to get into myself).

I don't think anything has ever properly followed Nightfire in my household as the go-to pick-up-and-play multiplayer splitscreen fragfest. Jedi Outcast was also a popular standby from that year, but didn't hold my attention for nearly as long.

The gamecube(multiplat, actually) one was also really good. The one with William Dafoe as the villian, I forget the subtitle it had.

Oh yeah. That was a great game for its time. Though it never succeeded in bringing back the golden age that was Goldeneye, it came close. It was a standard multiplayer game for my bf and me for a couple of years. Good times.

Yeah going from Agent Under Fire to Nightfire was such a disappointment because 90% of the multiplayer I played was using the crazy ass grappling hook. God that game was great.

Had so many fun hours playing local multiplayer with a friend, we would crank up the bots and just try to survive the longest.

Nightfire was fun, as were all of the Bond games to be honest. From Russia With Love was nothing special, nor was Tomorrow Never Dies, but I had more fun with the latter than most seemed to.

Everything or Nothing was the best. That motorcycle...

Also the last one they released was a lot of fun. I beat it twice. Short but fun.

I never played Legends though -- heard it was bad.

One of my absolute favorite games. That intro still gives me chills. Used to play this all the time, either with my buddies or just solo with bots all Sunday morning.

Wai Lin was by far the hardest bot to fight.

Nightfire had the better single player but Agent Under Fire's multi was amazing. Low gravy+ grappling hooks was outstanding.

I do love the ski slope level though.

Used to play MP loads with my housemates on the GC. The weapons were great!

I always assumed we liked it because of the obligatory joints that accompanied every game!

Unfortunately I never really got to play Agent Under Fire, Nightfire, or Everything or Nothing. I'll take everyone's word for it though that these games were good.

Some seriously fun times with the multiplayer at friends' places. I'd love for this to get a remaster/rerelease of some sort. Even just as a PS2 on PS4 title. Dunno how the licensing figures in though.

Yup I love this game, one of the best Bonds! Some of the multiplayer maps had cool things you could do, like grappling from one side of the map to the other, or walking across the ropes of the cable cars.

You're wrong, OP.

Nightfire is a damn good game, but this was the true sequel to Goldeneye:
perfect_dark-may14.jpg

And Goldeneye already got a true Bond sequel before Nightfire existed. It was this:

And guess who this one was made by.

Played on GameCube a LOT. I loved the single player and replayed the heck out of it. Multi was a lot of fun too. Tons of mileage
