Looks like a pretty weak week all around. Would Dread by included in next weeks numbers or the one after?

Kuro fw as rough as my remaining faith in the series direction, decent hold for Lost Judgement I guess, great numbers for Melty. Never would've thought Type-Moon would have such a good year as far as console games are concerned (yeah, French Bread developed but you know what I mean).

That's bad for Kuro when Hajimari launched with 83k. This should have been a new start for the series sales wise considering how long the last arc went. Maybe it'll have a better tail since word of mouth seems positive so far.

Unfortunately its the wrong Ps system that should be doing it
Also is it possible to add the systems together? Instead of just being seperate
LOL.

Also in what universe is that domination. I'm pretty sure most of those games underperformed. Sadly Japan is a tough market for Sony at the moment, here's hoping they can turn it around slightly with a strong set of release in 2022

Hopefully Falcom realizes that Kuro sales being bad are probably because Sen 4 and Hajimari were just terrible and people got fed up with the series, along with PS4 games just not selling that well anymore, not because it needs to go back to being like Sen...

Melty Blood sales are a bit disappointing after the huge success of Tsukihime, but maybe it's still at the same level of the PS2 Melty releases when we add the digital sales.

maybe, maybe, kuro sales were low because its sales are on 4 days.
Or maybe the downward trend of kiseki sales is confirmed

Being a VN, I expected Tsukihime numbers to be much higher. Barring Smash, most fighting games don't tend to sell all that much domestically. Comparing it to the competition, Type Lumina sold almost twice what Guilty Gear Strive did between PS4 and PS5 in its first week, but much less than the 80k+ debut for Granblue Fantasy Versus last year (though it can be argued that people wanting the mobile game codes that came with the PS4 version may have been a factor there).

Kuro being a ps4 exclusive in 2021 probably didn't help much either. It also doesn't help when you advertise Kuro as being a "new start" for the franchise, then flood the marketing with tons of references to characters from prior arcs which puts off people who may have jumped in with this game.

Also probably not the best idea to come out 2 weeks after Tales of Arise which makes Kuro look super low budget by comparison.

not much Legends of Heroes can do when Falcom sticks to undesirable consoles

Lol glad i was not the only one noticing it

Anyway i am courius on digital sales. Still easily Falcom will celebrate the profits it should gain anyway (as they did with sen saga despite slower sales going further)

Kuro sales are pretty awful. Shame, since everyone playing it seems to think it's the best one in ages (after Hajimari was already a step up).

It seems everyone is doing great! From 4 PS4 games at top, to Switch as the best selling console and even Xbox Series X/S.

Shame about Kuro sales. Hopefully NA will pick up the slack when we get it oh in 2025 or whatnot.
since when western audience is that big compared to the japanese fanbase?

Still i think next week we will see the remaining three days of real first week sales for kuro..surely Kuro was not a fresh new start at retail sales

Falcolm really should have used the engine switch as an opportunity to set up a simultaneous Switch development pipeline. :(
Hopefully global sales and the eventual PC port can pick up some of the slack... whenever they happen.

50k doesn't really seem like that high a bar for the west to clear, especially if by the time it comes out in the west, PS5 and Switch ports will have been contracted. It does seem that most of Falcom's growth is in East Asia however.

Do you have any sales number for cold steel saga on switch & ps4 western releases? Because i never found them and i never understood fully the commercial situation.

From the lifetime sales, you can see that this is incorrect. They've sold nearly twice as many XSX as the XSS.
I realize what I said came off as ambiguous. I meant they've been shipping more of their cut down unit percentage wise compared to Sony, not that they were shipping more of it than they were of the X.

It's such a strange stubbornness to see. CS3 sold half of what CS1-2 did due to the lack of a day 1 portable version. I can understand why in 2016 when CS3 was in development why there was no faith by Falcom in Nintendo's upcoming NX, and with CS4 probably not enough time to change course. By the time Hajimarie was entering production it was clear a good chunk of that Vita audience had moved to Switch, and Falcom has simply chosen not to embrace it and watch sales dwindle.

Falcom either needs to just go all in and push out Kuro 2 as a ps5 exclusive with top of the line graphics to try and make a splash, or get a day 1 Switch version ready even if it has to be outsourced. Maybe they're just content with 50k sales going forward in Japan with hope that East Asia/West pick up the slack down the road with their multiplatform releases, but that seems like a risky proposition.

Trying to parse why they saw a significant drop compared to Hajimari (which had more required knowledge to pick up) - outside of the games releasing around it - I think focusing on the action part of the combat in marketing materials may have scared off some of their audience (in reality, apparently it's not very prominent outside of taking out weak enemies and starting fights). It put me off a first at the very least.
