Compulsion always seemed like a strange purchase to me.
It's not like Contrast was a super polished and great game, now We Happy Few looks even less polished. Did MS think maybe having MS money would help them create more polished games?
He likes quite a few of the games he covers in his Jimpressions.
He absolutely loves Mario Odyssey for example. Made even two videos about it.
I'm a little miffed that Jim didn't talk about what's giving the game the most guff, namely its...let's say controversial views on depression and medication.
Is Jim Sterling capable of any comment more insightful than "lazy devs, DLC/micro-transactions are evil" with a lot of cursing thrown in the middle of it?
Yes, which you'd know if you actually listened to or read the mountain of content he's produced over the years. Is Jim Sterling capable of any comment more insightful than "lazy devs, DLC/micro-transactions are evil" with a lot of cursing thrown in the middle of it?

People here usually don't post his positive videos.I must just only be seeing the ones he doesnt (which are entertaining)
And Compulsion Games even responded to him (even though by a Youtube comment) :
"Hi Jim, We think you missed the point of what our writer was saying. More than happy to have a chat about it."
It's weird that Microsoft bought this studio, unless they got them on the cheap.
I remember my playthrough on 360 of wolf among us.But, Telltale games aren't "broken" though. Or if they are, nowhere even close to how broken We Happy Few seems to be.
Speaking of Gearbox, didn't they just a few weeks ago fix Aliens Colonial Marines so that the AI wasn't terrible, and the bugs mostly gone? Fucking 5 years later after the release of the game?
Jim "I get no joy from dismantling the game like this" Sterling
soooo... was there ever a good kickstarter project? (game or otherwise)
Holy shit that was one of the most vicious reviews I've ever read. Developers are scam artists
MS bought them for their narrative creativity. Everyone has raved the great story behind WHF.
They just need more budget, and a few additional members to handle gameplay/glitches for future titles (prob part of the plan)
Gameplay issue aside, no one can dispute that compulsion games lacks imagination, and that is what MS was/is looking for.
Well at least it's in early access... wait nope.
Well at least it's not a full prices game... huh... nope it's a full priced game.
The game looked so promising when it was first shown too.
This might be true for Contrast, but not so much for We Happy Few.
A lot of the concepts of "sadness" the developers discuss is better told in other games, no more so than LISA - for which the concept of "Joy" as drug, effects and consequences are taken from in the first place. Although in narrative, the game is more poignant and based much more in dark humour, exploring much more about a very different society:
Don't really care what some you tuber/twitch personality (aka blowhard) says, so far I've enjoyed what I've played and don't see any of theee bugs that was mentioned.
Ya'll let these "reviewers" rule what you touch/play/see don't you?
If something looks interesting try it out yourself don't wait to hear what others think about it
Yes, thank you for mentioning LISA! One of the best stories in video games, imo.
Undertalesoooo... was there ever a good kickstarter project? (game or otherwise)

That's not really fair. The concept of Joy as a pill is shared but otherwise they're very different games. Both very dark and humorous in their own way.Damn right. One of my favourite games. Very little like it, and certainly a shame that so much of what LISA is and its core concepts are not recognised compared to We Happy Few, which liberally borrows

there's more good ones than bad ones so, erm, yes.soooo... was there ever a good kickstarter project? (game or otherwise)
There's a bunch. Shovel Knight, Undertale, Banner Saga, Pillars of Eternity, Battle Chef Brigade, Battle Chasers, Superhot, Hollow Knight, Darkest Dungeon, Thimbleweed Park and many, many more.soooo... was there ever a good kickstarter project? (game or otherwise)

If i had to guess it's their ability in creating worlds and characters. We Happy Few has a fuckton of problems, but if you strip them out and only leave the world, narrative and characters they actually created something really fucking cool. It's a shame that the mechanics around it are so bad.
Do you seriously think Microsoft won't send any people to help them optimization their future games?
