I know how often and closely he's worked with them, but Bubble Gum actually sounds closest to an actual 250 song that you could grab from Ppong when compared to any other NewJeans track he's worked on with them:

Anyone who likes their work though should definitely check out his album though. Pretty sure he actually competed against and beat NewJeans for Album of the Year last year at the Korean Music Awards lol.

Listened to the IVE EP and it hasn't made a strong impression. I'll give it another listen or two but so far it's not doing it for me.

So this has been on repeat basically ever since I read this. What a fantastic song, thank you for mentioning it.

I guess on a related note, could I ask the thread at large for some recs for songs from smaller groups? I'm still fairly new to k-pop and Twice, BTS, Red Velvet, Shinee, Le Sserafim and IVE have basically taken all of my attention so far.

I gave IVE Switch a real listen and I know people like Accendio, but I'm going to throw my hat in the ring and say Reset is the best song off the EP. Shame it's also the shortest.

As a whole the EP is fine. I like it more now, but it's still not on the level of their others.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I added all of those to my current playlist and they're quickly growing on me. I find that most k-pop songs take several listens to really click, but some have already become major earworms, like BYOB and Sweet Juice.

welcome, glad when I can actually contribute anything to this thread ^^

Imho the best way to find new stuff is to use the "artist radio" function on Spotify, I'm sure other music streaming platforms have something similar. The curated playlists are a bit hit or miss in my estimation, since the genre is so broad and not strictly defined (which is great imho)

Now back to lurking mode :D

Yeah, seems like the case for a lot of their teasers. Then they'll even use songs from other artists which only have like 100s of views on YT. My favorite is from Ning's I'm the Drama teaser:

I have to say while I'm not enjoying this weird hate wave that's happening to nearly all the kpop girl groups, I do appreciate the fact that so many of them are getting a nice big spotlight put on them. Gone are the days of SNSD being the group, followed by 2NE1, followed well behind by 4minute and Sistar. So many groups feel like top groups, and the ones that don't still have a healthy and thriving fan base. It seems like everyone has something to do outside of music too. Everyone has a variety show and/or a tour. It's great. If only we could get the bad fans to just accept the fact that their group has to share the spotlight.
