Looks better, but not the leap I want. Fact is, it's hard having seen XIII and then go to literally anything else.

Gotta say though, if this is true then I am disappointed they went with big hands SF style. I liked that KOF was more "grounded" in terms of character design.

This looks good. It really sucks that we are seeing the first footage in this way.

Looks like SFV artstyle to me.

This is a cross post from another thread but you have a good point.

A lot of the current SNK are also both former Capcom and Dimps employees that worked on Street Fighter IV.

Case in point KOF XIV director Yasuyuki Oda was previously SF4 battle director and game designer so there is a lot of overlap of staff that left Capcom and Dimps which is why KOF XIV also has similar design aesthetic to SF4.

Also even more interesting prior that most of the DIMPs employees are basically long time SNK veterans. Again going back to Yasuyuki Oda was one of the Planner's for Garou: MOTW, so it kind of comes full circle.

So in short, if KOF14 aesthetic being comparable to SF4, then it's not surprising for KOF15's aesthetic being comparable to SF5.

While KOFXV looks more detailed, something about the body anatomy and sfxt shaders make this game look more obnoxious than KOF14.

Honestly it's been annoying for a long time now. Some people just aren't content with every ArcSys game looking the same.

I gotta be honest, I don't like the look of 3D Guilty Gear games pre-strive (which I think looks nice) something about them gives me mild motion sickness which is weird since I think their dragonball fighterz game looks great

I think SFV is the best looking of 8th gen fighters

KOF 14 looks literally nothing like SFIV.

Samsho looks like SFIV.

Hm ok i guess.. Need to see it in motion.
Way too anime for me but i guess we all accepted that was KOF look now really. Clearly it's designed for a younger crowd than it was in the 90's, but that makes sense. At least i'd like it to be a little more darker and moodier i guess. Also more jazz and less dub step or something.

KoF always been anime as hell (several of it's characters are ripped straight from anime, including the one in my avatar). Also when has KoF been dark and moody? There's certainly been serious story elements, but the game has never given off a moody vibe.

Looks decent. It's not what I was hoping for, but it is definite improvement. I hope character models animate better than in XIV. Especially clothing physics. I remember them being a little on the rigid side.

It looks better than 14, but there still seems to be a lack of definition in the character faces. Samurai Shodown has that same problem.

can we stop using anime as a descriptor?

anime alone has tons of artsyles and is vast.
