As we move into the future, our business fields will continue to expand with the advancement of electronics such as mobile devices and home game consoles, as well as with the emergence of new distribution platforms that utilize cloud technology. What's more, with the evolution of technologies such as AI, 5G and NFTs (non-fungible tokens), as well as the increasing recognition of esports as a sporting event, we expect the market to be revitalized by inventive new ways to enjoy games. In addition, the growing trend towards digitalization and online consumption has led to the expansion of subscription-based businesses, creating an environment for improved profitability and robust business results.

What more is there to say?

Oh, there's this tweet too I guess:

You all realize every company that stands to make a dime out of it will "research" NFTs right. There's literally entire sectors of the company dedicated to researching emerging technologies if there's any potential profit to be had.

This shit is going to cause a global recession if not depression when it all comes crumbling down.

Fuck, the next year is gonna be so bad with NFTs, I've been seeing so many larger businesses jump on the trend recently. I can't believe people are buying into this scam with shitty 3D art instead of supporting actual hardworking artists.

This NFT shit is so dumb. That's about as nuanced of a point I'm willing to give it at this point.

There was a "Last week tonight" piece on crypto like 2 years ago where they found out that companies were adding "Blockchain" to their names and products because just mentioning it increased their share value. I assume the same will be for NFT's. All these companies are just getting on a trendy bandwagon to inject some value in the short-term.

I could be wrong though and we'll all buy a unique database entry of a procedurally generated RE zombie

NFTs aren't going anywhere.

And what's gonna make you boomers cry is the fact that NFTs aren't restricted to digital art or games. It's going to be a part of the cultural fabric within 10-15 years even if the current speculation on crappy pixel art ends in a year or do.

Bow to your new god.

Not a boomer but have fun when this bubble bursts and your left holding a hentai jpeg when you could have just invested in a better regulated market.

And I won't buy a single one. They're only worth however much you can get the next sucker in line to buy it for. I'm not paying to play that game.

i have no idea what the future of NFTs will be, I personally don't really like or see value in them (yet), but people cried to the hills about Cloud service and guess what, that's pretty much the future/present and here to stay. at least I saw value in that. I havent seen an example of NFTs that have made me understand it being worth anything

comparing cloud services to NFTs is like comparing apples to doorknobs

How about they explore making some fucking games?

I don't even care about how dumb NFTs are but other than eFootball I can't even think of what game they'd put them in?

You know what? Fuck it.

I love it, everyone make NFT's every fucking company make them, I hope as many people as possible get scammed and burned on this. At somepoint there is just no learning but the hard way.

Look, I understand the hype around NFTs, apparently we're stupid enough to pay for digital scarcity and to even make whole economies from thin air, from things that have no connection to reality, but even so to sell NFTs your brand and your products need to be attractive, and Konami has none of both.

Well, maybe they can sell Ronaldo's and Messi's faces from eFootball as NFTs. Now that's a true collectable for the ages.

Konami going after this market is the least surprising thing I can recall reading in all my many years of life.

At this rate, fucking Nintendo is gonna announce they're researching NFTs and I still won't understand how this shit works or why people spend money on it.

Look, I've read like five or six articles trying to explain what an NFT is, and while I understand, I also don't understand it. Either this whole situation is too convoluted for its own good or I am too far removed from the modern times, in which case I wouldn't know if that's good or bad.

basically they use the blockchain to provide proof of ownership for digital goods.

Think of it like a baseball card. It's a little digital image that has value because you can prove you own it and the MLB only created x amount of these NFT's so it's rare and then worth something. But of course someone could just copy and paste the image and also have it, similar to printing a baseball card (except it's trivially easier and they're actually identical) the only thing that gives it value is the proof you own it and what it is.

which is fine but people are buying them for millions of dollars the same way people jacked up the price of that N64 Mario cart or the people paying millions of dollars for Pokémon cards. It creates precedent and builds a market for these things as long as people are willing to buy them.

So people with a vested interest in NFT's just pump the value of them and people buy them with the intention of selling them for more money.

What's that? Artificially inflated value attached to nothing but hopes and dreams? Yes, Konami is going to be all over that. It is, after all, squarely in their primary market: gambling. Only this way they don't even have to seed the frenzy with some token payouts, because the unregulated market is going to provide those as well!
