Is that a custom stand for the Venator? Also, is the red really that red? I kinda expected a darker red like that of the Corsucant Guard Ship.
It's the stand from iDisplayIt, I like their stands for the Venator and Star Destroyer - 45° display works so well. And the red is definitely darker than it looks, I had it under my bright Lego building desk light, it makes the mid reds look almost blood red. I think the official color for the red used with the Venator is "Dark Red" so yeah definitely the same as the red used in the Guard Ship.

Had something annoying happen when trying to sell a used set on Ebay and need some advice.

I just had a buyer request a refund after receiving a set I sold, claiming it didn't look like the photos because I sent it deconstructed (the photos were fully constructed). I did not mention it would be deconstructed before sending it, because it seems to be an unspoken rule that sets are deconstructed before being sent (I did mention that there would be No Box and No Instructions). I've sold other sets with the same setup (pictures of the completed set, but sent deconstructed) with no complaints.

Is this 100% on me? Or do I have grounds to fight the return?

I mean no instructions and didn't say it would be deconstructed seems a bit on you. BUT I believe instructions can be found online for many sets. Maybe see if providing digital instructions may change their mind?

Not an unspoken rule, you gotta tell them you send deconstructed in the future.

It's weird they would want to return it over this, but oh well. Maybe they really hate building lego lol

I think it'd be best to just let them return it

I wish I cared more for big "model" builds, this Pantasy set looks amazing for car collectors.

Yes, all of those are prints (70 of them), reviews are very good obviously. ~2200 parts, about 100-120 bucks.

I'm amazed at Lego finally perfecting their method of reselling leftover stock parts in colors they can't possibly put into any set.

I've done both the George Harrison and Spaceman art kits and as annoying as they are I'd kill for that Milky Way. It looks so damn nice and I love the colors.

Why can't they do more like the Starry Night set? Looks like why I never care about the art sets.

Also where is that from? Not seeing it on any of the normal lego leaks stuff.
There's a bunch of leak groups that aren't open to general use due to takedown requests. They usually trickle down within a week or so most times.

This looks cool, but will be a nightmare to build. Not a fan of the specific colors used here, but I don't hate it...
3000 1x1 pieces does not sound like fun to me. That's a pass.
*shudders in world map*
While this looks pretty cool, after the Maps set I will never do another "Art" piece.
I said the same thing, but still got The Wave. Looks cool, but hated the build.
The World Map build at least was slightly therapeutic and you could almost do it in a trance like state. It was just way too much of it...

The Milky Way set looks actually pretty cool, I really like the colors they used. It probably won't be fun to build, but that's the first art set I'd consider buying.

Based on my past experience with LEGO, I wouldn't do well with those art pieces because I'd want to make sure the text on every stud was lined up perfectly straight. It was bad enough doing those megabloks pokemon 2d arts, where you had to keep the square tiles straight with even spacing.

Was debating on those but this is probably enough convincing to avoid them, cheers.

Doing them was tedious, but at least they give you a little tool that helps to get them straight. I didn't find the building process on them to be enjoyable, but the end product is worth it. From a certain distance they look pretty fantastic, if you have any connection to the sprites from the games. I got all 4. But I wouldn't buy any more.

I'm glad the Rivendell roof exists as a possible test for people to see if they can jump into "art" projects. For me there's not enough Adderall to do at set in one time again.

art I think you're encouraged to do like a square at a time and slowly build up the mosaic. I don't think its really aimed at those that marathon their sets

yeeeah I don't know. I like the colors, but, I mean, those are completely made-up anyway. It's literally just bags and bags of completely random tiny crap pieces for another 200 bucks, in colors suspiciously looking like leftover production that didn't sell. I'd bet you can get 90% of the parts of this for cents on bricklink, and this set will be at least 20-30% off in no time (and much more down the line).

Like, if y'all really gonna pay $199 for this, I don't know what to tell you next time anyone complains about LEGO's pricing lol

I generally get the appeal of the Art series and personally enjoyed building the Great Wave.

But that Milky Way looks neither fun to build nor does the end product look in any way appealing. Just looks like a mess of random pieces and colors.

man I'd love to build a retro game screenshot out of lego, but it turns out pixel-perfect piece counts in the tens of thousands do actually get prohibitively expensive (and blow up the size lmao)

Oh god, this looks like a nightmare.
The only good use for something like this would be to use it as a trap to step on for burglars, but that would probably get you in trouble for breaking the Geneva Convention...

Have you thought about cutting everything down by a factor of 4/8/16?
It might look like a NES version of a SNES image, but at least the cost might be bearable?
I'd love to see a proof of concept in stud.io!

Speaking of ridiculously expensive projects...
Finally made some progress with my Hyrule map. Finished the first half of Death Mountain's basic structure.
I'm guessing the second half will be much easier due to me being able to apply the lessons I've learned from the first half...
Anyways, here are two screenshots:

Seems they cleared out their frog and bird surplus since I don't see any of them in it. Is that "you are here" block a print since I'd take that.

The frog surplus thing is so weird, it makes no sense when you consider the space at Lego. It would be more coat effective to grind up surplus drives and sell the bits to other industries which they already do that to sit on the alleged surplus

The milky way is such a bizarre set. Up close, it looks like some dystopian, puke-coloured cyberpunk city.

Anyway, built the Ecto-1 recently, and was blown away. The actual build was really fun and creative. Probably my favourite Lego experience since putting together the big Bowser last year.

Built this retro telly from Pantasy, too. Simple and fun, plus you can put your phone inside and use it like an actual TV, which is kinda novel.

While I haven't seen it myself, somebody high up in the leaker community has seen it and confirmed open back. They didn't go into more details than that sadly, but I have no reason to doubt them. Sounds like extra precautions are being taken before leaks to make sure their sources don't get fingered.

Wait. I was just making a joke based on a few kits and bags I've opened recently. Is this a real thing or did I just walk into your joke?

Hah, that's great. Ok, long story short is a rumor a while ago had the reasoning for frogs being included in many odd spots and sets was that instead of producing 10,000 frogs, one or two extra zeros were added, suggesting either 100, 000 or 1,000,000 frogs were produced by error. Sets were then required to use frogs to reduce overstock. Many holes were poked in this story, which is why I responded that way. All good and I had a great laugh that it was coincidental.

It took me a *long* time to realise that was the Milky Way set. What is all that random stuff supposed to be?! I thought it was some kind of sea creature at first

There was some dip poster on an altbrick reddit who was 100% convinced ai designed block sets were the future. This is what I'd expect if that were the case.

you know you'll mostly look at it from like 10ft away like most art sets? The close ups are to show off the greebling but thats only one part of it.

I can imagine that the finished product will look good on display with all of the colors and texture (I love how Starry Night and The Great Wave look in person), but I would be absolutely miserable building this. It feels like my least favorite type of lego building experience for the entirety of the build.

Lego always uses random assortment of things to look like something else. How effective it is depends on the set. Like all the wave tips on the Great Wave set are white birds.

Well amusing either way.

I was really looking forward to the Milky Way set,I don't mind how it's put together but man...wtf?!

It really looks like one of those LEGO MOSAIC GENERATORS.EXE you see all the time where people insert an image and you get some garbled ugly jpg out the other side that vaguely resembles what you put in. I wouldn't entirely mind the colours if it was a smidge bigger so you can better see the swirl, but having the random pixels of colours everywhere just makes it look bad.

d72f3ef661.jpg

I see what their going for but you need like, more layers to it. Like Van Gogh level of layers, not this ever so slightly raised look cause you using literal random leftovers to cobble it together. I'm really hoping someone gets a moc of this going that can make sense of this Queen Whatevra's Puke-in-a-box set. Now I'm really worried for the Mona Lisa set coming later this year, especially after leakers confirmed no Leonardo Davinci minifig...
