Just finished it. Damn that was good.

But
that ending was kind of strange. Going into the last episode with no cliffhanger whatsoever felt weird. It felt like a happy ending that doesn't need another episode lol

Still curious on what will happen in ep5 but I would have liked something to get me hyped
If I compare that to the ending of LiS1 EP4 oh boy

Life is Strange has its own pacing and it's totally different from season 1.
You really can't compare the episodes.

Reading the few impressions here makes me want to skip work to play it(or rather play it now and go to work 3 hours late). I can't wait to fire this game up again.

Haven't quite finished it because my headphone batteries went flat and I need them to cover the fan noise from my PS4 Pro. I'll post impressions when I'm done, but I just want to say how much I hate it when Sean starts monologuing a split second before I click on an object. I've missed so many of his thoughts as a result. I'm sure I posted this after episode 3 but it annoys me more with each episode.

Kicking Sean whilst he's down: the episode. How many times did he get beaten up in this one.

End of episode statistics felt very unanimous, talking to Finn seemed the only one with much division. I was worried he'd give Sean away and he didn't seem worth it.

Episode 4 was okay

The religious cult subplot was so trite and I really feel that it drags down the episode as a whole. Still, there were some great moments such the first part where Sean travels alone and the parts where he talked to his mom.

I'm excited for the final episode but the wait between all these episodes has been way too long. I hope LiS3 mostly takes place in the same location so that DONTNOD can crank these episodes out faster.

Where did you read that?
Here
Jean-Luc Cano: We don't really know if we're going to do another Life is Strange game, ...

For the future, we don't know if we're going to make Life is Strange 3 or expand the universe. We haven't been thinking about it in this kind of way. Actually, we're working on Episode 4 and Episode 5, and we're really dedicated to these last two episodes because it's a lot of work. We don't know what we're going to do next.
Barbet: The fact is that Square Enix owns the brand, so it's their decision to expand the universe. Even if we have created the first season and the characters, and for this one and the characters. They own the brand. So I don't think we're going to continue, but if we continue as creators, game creators, we'll continue to create narrative games like this.

I kinda wanna create a thread about it but not sure whether it's worthy or not

Feels like a roundabout way of saying they don't really know whether Square Enix feels it is worth it. I don't think they would turn down an offer if asked. Sadly we have no idea about concrete sales numbers, but unless it blows up significantly after all the episodes are out they are most likely down. At least the episodic format really does feel dead at this point, LiS 3 might come in the way of a full game if anything.

I just finished Episode 4. Holy shit. So many emotions throughout the whole thing.

The dream sequence with Esteban was so good. I lost my father a long time ago and there are so many things I wish I could tell him still, so it broke my heart. Sean getting to tell him he kissed a boy and having him accept it... So good.

Also, I love Karen. I can totally relate to her, and I loved the smoking scene with her.

Looking at the choices... Uhh, some of the endings sound much crazier than mine... Such as "Sean shoots Lisbeth while Daniel hurts her" My Daniel is a good boy, I guess.

I'm a bit relieved it didn't end on another cliff hanger... It's going to be a long wait til December!

That was a pretty interesting episode.

It was nice to meet Karen finally, she was a pretty great character. I talked to her as much as I could and tried to have Sean get closer to her.

I totally fucked up a couple spots, Sean basically just got his ass kicked the entire episode lol. The amount of times he was kicked while he was down and pistol-whipped, holy shit lol.

Fuck that cult though, man. Gay conversion therapy and shit? Fuck them, glad they burned down, didn't kill anyone though.

It kind of feels weird not having a cliffhanger after the way the last episode ended. There's still a few loose ends to tie up I suppose, and judging by the preview for the next episode, they are going to make it Mexico, but I have no idea how they plan to wrap this story up, so I'm definitely interested to see what the final episode has for us.

Also, did anyone else catch that line where Sean was like "If I could turn back time, I would!" Yeah, I see you Dontnod lol. :P

And then, my choices:
I passed one of the eye tests. (Failed the depth perception)
I told Agent Flores the robbery was Finn's idea. (I guess I'm a snitch, but whatever lol)
I escaped the hospital without hurting anyone. (Who the fuck hurt Joey!? I'm going to hurt you! Lol)
I did not talk to Finn. (I saw him, but as above, I just snitched on him, soooo....)
I broke Daniel's toy while trying to take it back. (And probably one of Sean's ribs too, yikes)
I refused to sing and got beat up. (Punished Sean)
I got into Anton's truck to reach Haven Point. (Nice guy, gave me a sandwich, didn't seem racist!)
I didn't give money to the Church. (And boy am I glad!)
Overall, I tried to let Karen open up to me. (Good talk)
I smoked a cigarette with Karen. (She was like "yeah, I got a couple left" but she had like a whole pack lol)
I accepted Karen's help to clean my wound. (Fuck doing that by myself)
I got Nicholas suspicious when sneaking into Haven Point. (Walked by some lady and she talked to Jacob)
I didn't give any money to Jacob. (Look, we worked for that money, we need it, ok?)
I got caught by Nicholas. (Wasn't sure where to hide really, it didn't seem like there was room for both of us anywhere?)
Me and Daniel both spared Lisbeth's life. (I thought about pointing the gun at her, but I figured since Daniel appeared to be fully on my side again, I'd just ask him to take care of it, and he did it without harming anyone)

So yeah, I guess we'll see how this all wraps up. It's so vastly different from the first game, but that's what makes it it's own thing I suppose.

Well i really liked it

the last scene was really good and got me.The lyrics were on point.(about Karen)
There's only one licensed song in this episode and you hear it only at the end.
I think it works well.

but yeah it's really an unexpected episode,in a good way.

LIS2 continues to be excellent.

Loved the convo with Karen. Whether you agree, rebuke her, or something in between, I love all the choices they give in that. Also Jacob, I was ready to kick his ass, then you really get to know him. Also, whoa at those choices at this end, wow.

Such a good episode.

Karen is excellent. She's surprisingly sympathetic, and I absolutely understand her belief that ghosting would have helped them move on faster. She was wrong, but I get why she thought that.

Anyone who managed to hide, how did you do it? Jacob hid behind the door and I hid in the closet. Admittedly, the closet is WAY too obvious of a hiding spot, but it's all I saw in time. I did catch and close the filing cabinet. Was I supposed to run for it while he was distracted at the desk?

Did you agree to let Karen make a distraction? I also hid in the closet with Jacob behind the door after closing the filing cabinet and the distraction happened just as he was about to find me. I'd imagine without the distraction I would've been screwed.

---

Just finished my first run through the new episode. It was pretty great. So far in terms of preference I'm thinking 3 > 4 > 1 > 2 in terms of episode ranking.

It's gonna be a long wait until December...

My choices for ep 4:

I passed both of the eye tests. (I messed up the depth perception one once or twice but I guess it wasn't enough to fail?)
I told Agent Flores the robbery was Finn's idea. (It's what he Deserved.l)
I escaped the hospital by knocking out the guard. (I tried to be thorough but didn't see any other way to escape. Maybe it has something to do with the order I went about things. There's no way I would've involved Joey anyways.)
I talked to Finn and forgave him.. (I hate him but from an ~immersive standpoint it felt right. I don't know. The conversation Sean and Finn had tore me up a bit though for sure.)
I broke Daniel's toy while trying to take it back.
I sang. (At this point I just wanted Sean to not get reamed anymore, this episode was cruel.)
I got into Anton's truck to reach Haven Point. (My first instinct screamed to run in the other direction but I'm glad I took the ride.)
I didn't give money to the Church. (It's what they deserve.)
Overall, I tried to let Karen open up to me. (Her character is a lot more well executed than I expected her to be. I was dreading the inevitable appearance of her in the game but it turned out pretty well.)
I smoked a cigarette with Karen.
I accepted Karen's help to clean my wound.
I got into Haven's Point with no suspicion. (Walked around the far side of the building the lady was sitting next to)
I gave Jacob the money.
I wasn't caught by Nicholas. (Closed the filing cabinet and hit in the closet while Jacob went behind the door. Karen's distraction saved my ass.)
Me and Daniel both spared Lisbeth's life. (Can't say I wasn't tempted to shoot her at this point but I had Daniel move her and open the door instead.)

No, she didn't give details on her plan so I didn't want to risk it. So it was down to that decision then.

I couldn't figure out a way to get out of the hospital room non-violently but I didn't call the nurse because I figured that locked you into getting the guy fired or worse.

Was surprised the two rednecks scene didn't lead to more. Just some random people being racists to balance out with trucker dude I guess.

I thought the whole cult theme was a bit played out. I'm not sure why Jacob had to reveal to Lisbeth that Daniel had powers?

I thought all of Karen's excuses fucking sucked but I reconciled with her anyway.

Pete Buttigieg sure pistol whips the shit out of poor Sean.

That felt more like a finale than the actual finale will probably end up being. Maybe we'll get to take down the entire border wall.

This was my favorite episode,
I liked the cult angle *shrug*

Also the Karen stuff was very good, even though her reasoning will obviously split people.

So Sean lost his eye and was in a coma for some time, but he was still about to be released. What happened to Finn that he's still in the hospital after all this time?

Really good episode. I have no idea how this is all going to conclude whereas with Life is Strange 1 and Before the Storm I kinda had a sense how things would end up by episode 4.
His name is actually Ishmael and he's here to escort Big B-... Sean alive out of this hospital.
Sean in this episode also smokes, sneaks into a compound, gets beat up a lot, wears an eyepatch, and has mama issues. Punished Sean confirmed

Speculation/stuff

It doesn't really seem like there's an easy out, at least for the brothers to return to a normal life, or to clear their names. Even if they find a way to clear up the cop's death at the start, I guess it's still not entirely clear on exactly what did happen, there's the car theft and running from the police. And no helpful time travel to clear things up.

This episode had me wondering if Sean's sketches were having a subtle effect on reality. Does drawing a stairway out of the window let you escape that way/does the trucker only show if you draw an oasis. Checking against youtube doesn't seem to be the case though.

Finished it. Really strong episode. It looks like I followed the herd with most choices, with one huge exception.

  • I passed both vision tests. The pen one was hard though.
  • I told Agent Flores the robbery was everyone's choice. I ain't a snitch.
  • I escaped the hospital without hurting anyone. I wouldn't involve Joey, he's too kind. I didn't want to hurt the guard.
  • I talked to Finn and forgave him. I didn't tell him where I was going though, just in case he used it to buy his freedom.
  • I broke Daniel's toy while taking it back from Chad.
  • I refused to sing and got beat up.
  • I got into Anton's truck. Despite the beating I just took, I remembered there are Brodys in the world.
  • I didn't give money to the church. There were already clear signs of fuckery in that place.
  • Overall, I tried to let Karen open up to me. I'm glad she didn't turn out to be a secret superhero who went into hiding. She was just different.
  • I smoked with Karen, and then I let the music play for like 15 minutes. It was a beautiful scene.
  • I accepted her help to clean up my wound.
  • I managed to sneak past Nicholas.
  • I gave my money to Jacob and his sister. I did think, before I was given the choice, that this was America and the hospital wouldn't just help without payment, so I'm glad I could solve that problem for them.
  • I did a quick 180 and hid under the desk, then watched Jacob say "quick Sean, we need to hide" for 30 seconds while I was already hidden. I started to think the game needed me to come out and show Jacob a place to hide, but he eventually figured it out for himself.

  • When Lisbeth blocked the door, I didn't want Daniel to have to use his power. I threatened her with the gun.
  • When she wouldn't move, I shot her dead, along with 4% of other players.
The choice was "Get rid of Lisbeth", which is a bit vague, but if it had said "Kill Lisbeth" I think I would have still done it. I thought Daniel would kill her if I asked him to move her, and I couldn't allow that to happen. But, fuck, I played Sean as a pacifist up to this point, and then BANG.

So, four episodes in, it turns out Sean is a murderer after all. I regret the decision, but I'll stick with it and see how it effects episode 5.

Not my favorite episode that's for sure. It was just... I don't know. There were some strong scenes like

  • Karen - I get her and I believe her, that this wasn't some easy decision for her.
  • Jacob and his little sister.
  • Joey - he was great
  • the racist dudes on the road - what a bunch of idiots... sad that you couldn't do anything meaninful against them. I didn't even trust the trucker afterwards but I guess he was fine.

But...

  • i really didn't like the final scene in the church - it was just too much "action movie" for me. If it makes sense. The "bad guy is hurting me and I always stand up" was a little bit too much for me. And of course everything needs to burn. :/
  • the cult and lisbeth - from the first moment it was immediately apparent that lisbeth had only used Daniel and indoctrinated him. I would have somehow hoped for more depth for her character but in the end she was just a christian maniac...
  • just one song - thats really quiet for a LiS-Episode

Episode 3 is still my favorite from this season. 4 not so much.

I totally agree with this point.
Everyone just standing around while the flames spread. Daniel repeatedly begging Nicholas to stop but doing nothing to stop him. Tap button for power of brotherhood. Maybe that's why I lost patience and blew Lisbeth away!

Thinking more about my final choice, I really fucked up. I do think Sean would kill for Daniel if there was no other choice, but an average sized, unarmed woman blocking a door? Nah.

Really liked this episode, it definitely pushed some buttons for me.
  • I chose to sing for the two racists and i think that Sean's voice actor really sold the scene. The dialogue preceding the song is the first time for me where i didn't know what option to choose and the invisible choice timer ran out and got mocked by the two attackers. Really felt powerless and helpless. The followup song while crying really resonated.

  • Didn't expect it to go the church route but felt that it was handled well. Does Daniel always not trust Sean when they first meet? I remember a choice in episode 2 where one of the options was Daniel refusing to pray with her grandmother, does that have any effects?

  • I thought Karen was a really well written character, you understand her while still knowing that she hurt Sean and Daniel. Really hope that in the next episode there will be a few scenes with her and Daniel interacting. Also liked how her desire for freedom contrasted with the church cult and brought her closer to Sean.

  • Poor Jacob, what a terrible situation. I remember in his letter to his little sister one of the options was to talk about her pet chicken, is it in the episode?

  • At the end i didn't want to have Daniel hurt Lisbeth but i shot her myself, goodby pacifist run. Surprised me that one of the choice options mentioned Daniel hurting her, what do you have to do to get him to do that? In my game i brought up Sarah being sick and not having medical care which i think is pretty fucked up and even then Daniel did not hurt her.

I was expecting it to revealed that

Karen had powers during that ending section. I thought I'd get beat around for a while and she'd step in. I was thinking that to be the real reason she took off years ago.

I think that lack of soundtrack, which make LiS and LiS: BTS one of my favorites games ever, is sorely lacking in second season.

But EP4 was by far the strongest for me in this season. But overall, it could have been named like, I don't know "Life is Different", because tone and themes in the game is vastly different from its predecessor. It's the game I want, but not the LiS I wanted, if that makes any sense.

I had Sean pray in Episode 2 and Lisbeth commented that she knew I had faith because Daniel told her. He still chose her over me in that scene though.

I'm not sure if individual actions in this Episode effect Daniel's choice to hurt Lisbeth or not... I think it's how he's behaved throughout the season. For example, if you have a shitty relationship with Daniel, in Episode 3 he can force choke Cassidy when you confront him and Finn in Merrill's house... But if your relationship with him is good, he won't hurt her.
