that's really weird. I've never met a dude named Lauren or Ashley. Tbh I come from a culture where all names are unisex. Punjabi names are simple as hell and literally every single one is unisex. The typical naming convention for Punjabi names goes something like

(first half of name, usually means something deep)
Man (heart)
Sukh (peace)
Gur (wisdom)
Bal (strength)
Jas (prayer)
Charn (blessing)
Inder (spirit)

plus

(second half of name, usually an enhancement of the first)
-deep (bright)
-preet (love)
-jeet (victory)
-meet (partner)
-vir (ally)
-jot (fire)

Manpreet
Manvir
Sukhvir
Sukhmeet
Gurpreet
Gurdeep
Baljeet
Baljot
Jaspal
Jaspreet
Charndeep
Charnpreet
Inderjot
Indervir

And any one of those names can be for a guy or a girl.

followed by the last name Singh. Females can use either Singh or Kaur as their last name. There are family names too, but it's acceptable to just use Singh across the board.
