Most news sites serve you articles based on what they know of your interests. Same as they do with ads, and with Google search results.'Sony's Spider-Man exclusive sparks backlash' was on the front page of BBC News earlier this week.
They've kept this same energy for decades. You think they wanted to allow cross play on their platforms?
Yeah, no thanks, a BBC article that quoted two dissatisfied twitter users is not exactly an outrage. I'll take my guess that Sony's marketing team have done their market research over some BBC article or ERA's 15 pages of rage.
I wonder if this is what they originally had planned to close out the State of Play yesterday, but pulled it at the last minute because of the foreseen backlash. Maybe. It's a theory.
I don't think Sony cares about the backlash. Avengers is a big name that's sure to reach beyond the gaming enthusiast bubble. I think we'll see Sony using this "Advantage" thing a lot more from here on out, and it's not even the first time. Mortal Kombat had Kratos marketed on the boxart.
Nintenedo were doing actual illegal things when they were the market leader, like threatening retailers to maintain fixed prices, which got them in big trouble with the FTC.Is this how Nintendo in the 90s was like? I was a kid in the single digits ages throughout then so I'm curious. It's hilariously cut-throat.
You're gonna love her in this if the beta is any indication.
Putting /s at the end of every post sort of ruins it.
Sincerely hoping this blows up in this game's face. It's just such a cynical move that people should not be willing to tolerate.
Same here. I had zero interest. All the complaining made me look into this and now I preordered on Amazon just to try to beta. No intention of buying it....unless...I can't even lie. That Spider-Man deal made me take a second look at this game. And I think it looks great.
Smart move by Sony, because he turns heads and makes people notice. Now, I hear that it's like maybe a better or more advanced MUA with loot like Diablo? Yeah, I'm jumping all over that beta.
.Requiring customers on other platforms to pay the same price for less content will always be bad. However, this is not PS3-era Arrogant Sony. Arrogant Sony would be them saying "let Xbox have the extra content, people will want to play on our platform anyway because we're PlayStation."
Not a chance with this beta out now and all the good word of mouth. The game is legit great. Plus thinking a Marvel game could fail is just a fool's wish.
Am I playing the same game? All I have to say is that I've been playing this for the last three hours and it's fucking brilliant. PlayStation securing an "advantage" deal with this game is huge. People on Steam / XBox will want to play this regardless of Spider-Man, I can assure you on that.
How have I never seen this
Yep. Even though I'm not a fan of this kind of exclusivity, as it will go both ways at some point, these deals aren't going away at all and this "backlash" is still just noise.I don't think Sony cares about the backlash. I'm playing on a PS4 Pro with boost mode turned on and highest difficulty. You?
Kind of funny some people think they shouldn't be advertising all of the exclusive content they paid for leading up to launch?
I get that it's shitty but the backlash hasn't been that severe and really outside of Spider-Man this is all pretty standard exclusive / early access type stuff. It's no worse than what they did with Destiny strikes.

Are you playing "correctly"? ;)
Every last dirty trick to remain #1.Oh my goodness, it's like Sony are fuelled by gamer hate. They don't give two fucks about the backlash of the last few days.
The title of the video, my goodness me.
Sony thrives in hate; their hate against Nintendo birthed the PlayStation after all.
I generally don't dislike videos on YT, but this video lands on the pile of those few where I do.
