So there is demand for the PS5 after all
It's just stock issues

Let me guess, still no stock for Bravely Default heh.
At least it's doing really well on eShop.

Great week for PS5. I wonder how long demand will continue to outstrip supply if its putting up numbers like this.

Does anyone have a comparison of the sales trajectory between 3D World on Wii U and Switch? Where was it at on the former at this point in time?

I guess the PS5 buyers are all playing PS+ collection games lol

No wonder why Sony prioritize other market, you see uptick in games sales with restock in those market but here, nada xD

Nothing stands out immediately. Nice debut for A-Train, in line with expectations. Good boost of PS5 hardware sales, but likely nothing in the top 30 on the software side again...

There's always the initial demand for PS systems at launch, so far they haven't been able to keep up with it. I'm interested in seeing how the PS5 fares once the enthusiast crowd all get their systems.

Exactly, wish one week supply would reach pent up demand, so we can see what the pure data is the week after.

38k PS5 sold this week

0 software sold more than 8.6k

I'm really confused by PS5 owners (well not that confused I guess, my launch PS5 is still in its box)

TBH if I buy a PS5 right now I wouldn't buy any PS5 games too. The PS4 games I haven't played are in abundance and cheap, some even free. It's not my problem though.

Need an average of 159K a week to hit 20M units sold in Japan by the last week reported for April (Week 18 should have the last few days of April).

Really comes down to how big MHR will boost things in a few weeks and if Nintendo can meet demand.

PS5 "biggest week" after its first three weeks, at least Japan receives a bit more stock now, maybe Bloomberg articles had an effect in the end

There is demand for the usual enthusiasts at hardware launch which is around 600k-1M, as long as LTD don't get into that ballpark PS5 will sell what it ships in Japan.
The problem is that even enthusiasts may give up at some point but having bigger shipments lately is a good first (baby) step.

Pretty uneventful at the exception of the good PS5 restock.

Maybe this time, we'll have a game sneaking up in the top 30 (so we can get LTD numbers !)

Still strange to see AC so "low" in the chart, although only because of some recent releases that will fall away.

Will it slip out of the top 10 some time this year?

PS5 stock getting slightly better. Wonder when we'll see the retail software situation improve. It would be one thing if the majority of PS5s being sold were the digital edition, but I'm left wondering whether PS5 owners are buying much retail software at all.

Honestly, PS5 software situation is currently showing two issues that might become very important if such trends won't see any change in the next future.

1) PS5's own software being largely absent from Top 30s with the very sporadic appearence of Yakuza's late port last week
2) The PS ecosystem as a whole. Having such a low amount of entries every week isn't exactly healthy.

Luckily for the PS5, if the Japanese consumer doesn't want it (demand meet, blah blah), there will be people more than willing to snap it up and sell it to people that do elsewhere...and I don't see that abetting soon.

As for software, we are seeing lack of PS5 specific titles the world over with higher PS5 sales. Playstation does have one of the largest digital storefronts so I'
m sure, especially with a digital only console, that more games are being sold there. As higher profile PS5 games release, these will be reflected in sales ratios with the console seeing a big push everywhere.

Someone here (Le-something) was right on the money - most PS5 owners are treating it as their PS4 Pro Pro. They're enjoying their backlog of PS4 titles on it, which is why the software sales for the PS5 are the way they are.
