Atelier doing better than most recent entries. Best one since Sophie, right? Pretty cool! I don't think anyone besides Jim_Cacher may care about this tho. lol

Good to see Chocobo doing so well too. People were starving for the bird I guess. SRW numbers are overall a bit disappointing, the franchise can't get over its decline.

Well at least we still have the other two trackers.

PS4 finally reached 8 million. Shame vita is dead now and won't reach its last milestone.

Wow at Sekiro! The From Software name is huge now huh? It will beat DMC5 by a decent margin...

Will be weird to not have a MC thread. I've been following for over a decade on GAF and here.

It's incredible to see how Switch keeps being on top with Nintendo fighting alone while Sony, with arms crossed, has received exclusive games every week since mid January.

End of an era, I really wanted to know how Yoshi performed :(
Every week I think the same thing. Two years of dominance and all you see is
[PS4] / NEW
[PS4] / NEW
etc

Can't say From Software name is big now, but surely Soul fanbase is growing and very dedicated.
I think this will also make Capcom look at DMC series as a whole too. Maybe people just get tired of it already.

It feels so weird to see the end of Media Create Sales numbers. Hopefully the other trackers don't follow suit so we can continue to discuss numbers on a weekly basis.

Lol. Actually I have never played any Atelier games even though I am interested to try the series one day (hell, I have the very first Atelier game on PSX but still haven't put it into PS3). I do love reading about the sales of these niche titles though.

It's hard to believe PS4 won't be able to match PS3 with all the troubles it had. It seems like steaming is the only realistic way for them to compete with Switch.

I think it is selling well, my copy is backordered with no confirmation on next shipment and I finished the demo.

I really didn't expect Chocobo Mystery Dungeon to do these kinds of numbers. I thought it would come and go without anyone noticing like so many rereleases.

Chocobo did pretty good! Not bad at all! Maybe there's hope for the series' future after all?

So sad to see MC data die though... The last bastion of transparency in sales within the industry is about to fall. God help us all...

It may be declining in Japan but the Asia releases are apparently making up more than half of total sales.

I wonder how it bodes for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles remaster, it was a much bigger game than Chocobo and is still holding fine by today's standard while being more than 15y old.
Now if only Square-Enix was willing to tell us something about it.

Someone call an admin, there's some banning to d....... oh.

crazy how a decade and a half of MC sales data threads ends this week for me. i hope there's decent replacements to keep track of sales.

There's still Famitsu data... for now. Who knows if they'll ever keep releasing public numbers, and if yes, how long now that MC is out of the picture.

So sad that this is the last week for MC 😭 I really hope they change their minds and let at least the numbers become available after a week or so.

Good sales for Switch and PS3. I guess that PS4 can sell that much if a medium sized game gets released each week?

Chocobo used to be a million seller IP back in the PSX and there was time enough for people to want a new game.

Now revive Rocket Slime, SE.

We get Famitsu data for almost all big software launches - wouldnt worry about it.
Was kinda hinting at the fact that when it comes to Nintendo games and hardware, Media Create was the most reliable out of the two. Famitsu numbers could be wrong, usually they are a couple of thousand copies off compared to MC

Trying to figure out if there's anything we can surmise from SRW being PS4 > NSW but Mystery Dungeon being NSW > PS4.

Genre difference? (But then roguelikes are more strategic than some RPGs, so I'd assume there would be some crossover in interest between the audiences)
Games on previous platforms? (If we're talking in terms of Mystery Dungeon, that's more associated with handhelds of late; if we're talking in terms of Final Fantasy, that's more associated with Playstation, although there's been recent movement with the franchise on Switch prior to this with the classic rereleases. SRW has been Playstation-centric for a while)
Promotion? (Mystery Dungeon had appeared in Nintendo Directs, I don't know if SRW turned up in the Japanese ones)

So not a terrible result for SRW but still doing nothing to combat the decline (in fact, only adding to it really). Wonder how much less next year's entry will do. At least they're offsetting with Asian sales these days.

02./00. [PS4] Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2015.11.19} (¥7.344) - 30.759 / NEW
03./00. [PSV] Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2015.11.19} (¥6.264) - 25.805 / NEW

05./00. [PSV] Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2016.11.02} (¥5.800) - 16.153 / NEW

00./00. [PS4] Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2017.12.21} (¥7.300) - 21.129 / NEW

13./00. [NSW] Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2019.03.20} (¥7.800) - 12.473 / NEW

So Atelier Lulua sold slightly better than Lydie & Suelle but still lost out to Firis. Not a good result at all imo, especially since the trilogies tend to sell worse with each new entry. Back to the drawing board, Gust.

Nintendo uses Media Create data for sellthrough so of course their numbers would be more accurate if you look at Nintendo official numbers, why and how they decided to go with M-C that we don't know, maybe they're more reliable, maybe not, the two have been close overall and as long as you're looking at the big picture Dengeki and Famitsu are perfectly fine.

Maybe the price too plays a role, there's a big difference there.

There is a significant price difference between Firis and Lulua so I don't really think it is a bad result. It is up in revenue.

Trying to figure out if there's anything we can surmise from SRW being PS4 > NSW but Mystery Dungeon being NSW > PS4.
The division between "Playstation" and "Nintendo" franchises in Japan is big. More family oriented or kid friendly stuff will sell better on Nintendo usually, while big western/AAA/"hardcore" experiences have their home with Sony.

Promotion? (Mystery Dungeon had appeared in Nintendo Directs, I don't know if SRW turned up in the Japanese ones)
It was in the latest direct.
