A low profile self published title that was revealed in March 2019 with a fall 2019 release date and would release on PS4/XB1/Switch/PC since then won't reinvent the wheel with CC2.
Actually it is part of a self published trilogy revealed at February 2018 followed at July 2018 by the announcement of systems and the original release date of summer 2019.

One thing I've learned by reading this thread over the years is that "aiming for the west" usually just means "i dont like this direction."

GBG will be interesting to see, it's a good price and could have potential legs. I dunno if it's a 200k seller or maybe even make it to *cough cough.... 1mil but we shall see lmao

Emily Rogers has proven to be extremely reliable when it comes to Nintendo info. Times and times again.
I'm familiar with her track record

Still, that claim is so enormous I'll continue to take it with a grain of salt until it's proven true; Nintendo has proven nothing over time if not that leaks surrounding them have to be treated with suspicion

Game Builder Garage is another hit from Nintendo no one expected (of course, it was announced when, 1 month ago?). Good idea, nice execution, correct price point, Summer release.

Will GBG be the next RFA with no problem to stock? Find out in the next couple of MC threads

Wouldn't surprise me if Metroid drops in August or September if it's already done. It's typical Nintendo to announce a game that is coming out in just a few months and that no one expected to see, like Astral Chain.

Damn, what a turnaround for Konami. Yu-Gi-Oh will be huge, even more that they're heading into the next season of the anime.

So it was all Kojima's fault after all.

Wouldn't it make most sense to launch with the Pro in September (if that's the launch month), as they did for Links Awakening ? At least that's what I'm expecting.

It seems Dusk Golem and others are leaking Outrage on the internet. Switch timed-exclusive with Rebecca. If it's a 3rd-person view, then might outperform Village.

I am extremely doubtful this will be either a tecnhically demanding game or a financially successful game.
So only technically demanding game can be launched alongside new hardware ? Not quite following the argument. If it's a good looking 2D game that runs in 4k on the new system it's a showcase title.

Financially successful ? Again not quite understanding what this has to do with it launching alongside new hardware. Either way it's gonna be a guaranteed million seller on Switch, just based on what the last 3DS game did. Not like they are expecting BotW numbers from it.

That's months old news by now or are you talking about new tidbits ?

Metroid remakes did acceptable numbers even on 3DS. Whoever underestimates sales potential of a new 2d Metroid on Switch from all systems will be found in front of big surprise.

I am expecting this to sell 2m+ and maybe be the best selling Metroid game of all time if it's good at all simply because every game released post 2013 sells way better than historic games.

But that's still a very low key release alongside new hardware compared to how most Nintendo games sell.

If you don't think a 2D Metroid selling +2m won't be financially successful for Nintendo i don't know what to tell you.

Smaller games launch alongside new hardware because they benefit the most from the launch hype and mindshare....BotW2, Pokemon, MK9 can launch any day or week of the year and sell millions.
I know that Outrage is old news. However Dusk Golem(And others) are leaking that it will be announced at E3 and there will be a demo(Don't know of dropping today or tomorrow). It seems they're leaking the story too?

Damn.

Didn't expect to see it until fall. Kinda wish I didn't get spoiled by it so shortly before the Capcom presentation lol

Welp, time for another cup of coffee and stay up a few more minutes. I love big surprises. I always thought Metroid sold bad.

2m+ for a Metroidvania game isn't very low key release by any metric and it's unlikely it will be budget priced.

Metroid sells bad compared to many Nintendo franchises, especially considering how resource intensive the Metroid Prime games are.

But it still managed to do like 800k in the past so it can hit 2m now that every game does great sales numbers.

It's very hard to make a sub-2m flop these days if you have a AAA or AA level of presentation values, quality, and advertising. Especially if you have an at least moderately well known/liked brand.

You should not underestimate the tools available to game devs these days. A game like Game Builder Garage is actually getting sales because you have a tool kit to easily create some games. Now AAA games with huge worlds, music productions, cinematic productions, complex textures and AI have huge blown up budgets but a 2D game should do fine even with sub 2 million sales. I don't think the new 2D Metroid will be very big budget and quite frankly, if it does have a bit of a budget I think it will do good numbers too. Probably way above 2 million.

To be clear, I do not think this 2D Metroid game will be that budget intensive.

But the Metroid Prime games are expensive to make (especially Prime 4 obviously)
