Switch software may be performing strong but 3DS performance in Japan wasn't weak either. Not every first party title can outsell 3DS equivalent with easiness.

West is where the big difference at sales will be obvious, not Japan.

Yeah, I've noticed a tendency to overestimate sales of certain Switch titles compared with their 3DS predecessors. It doesn't really matter that more effort was put in Aces, because the 3DS was really strong at selling first-party titles and Mario Tennis Open wasn't a particularly low-effort game for a handheld. It wasn't AAA but it was good enough for a lot of people.

What I look forward to the most is Super Mario Party's performance. That's one franchise that is a considerably better fit for the Switch than the 3DS, and it seems a lot better than previous entries. It should be expected to sell quite a bit better.

Well I specifically meant Japan. As far as I know it took more time to get going there (like with all western things). In west it had been big years already by Vita release.

Aces will open lower than Open in Japan but it might outsell it in the long-run with Summer approaching. Surely Aces will be WAY bigger in Western markets, US especially.

Minecraft will open big and that is not even a question. Minecraft plus portability plus popular system plus right demo means a lot of sales. I'd be surprised if Minecraft Switch will not be one of the biggest 2018 games.

The one Idolm@ster game which has been doing mega is Cinderella Girls and it's all on Cygames not Bamco, Starlight Stage has picked up notably recently however and I'm not sure since when exactly.
Though I wasn't talking about mobile if it wasn't clear.

But yes Bamco is doing well on mobile (they're the first publisher by revenue for May in Japan even), but that shouldn't be related to how they handle the dedicated video game market, if anything it shows they're unable to get any synergy between the two markets so far and that one grows to the detriment of the other.

Everyone i know love this game. Really didn't expect that, the hype for the game is stronger than what i expected. Won't be surprised if it end up doing very high numbers.

Fortnite is hitting the advertising space here hard. I can't go a minute without seeing an ad for it being now available on Switch.

120K seems way too low for MTA, should be around 160-180k judging by past openings for major Switch games this year

So what's the word on Dragalia Lost? I saw that they have regular updates about characters and dragons on their twitter account. Do we know how pre-registrations are going? Do we know when it's gonna launch beyond "Summer"?

That was Namco's game. Camelot just supplied them with the assets from World Tour and Tennis Open/Ultra Smash (and a few new golf courses for the Golf portion that were probably cut from MGWT).

With how good Mario Tennis Aces is, and the opportunity for everyone to try it out a month ago, I can seen Aces perform better than any other Mario Tennis. I expect a >150k opening to be honest, and long legs. 1 million sales could be achieved in the long run.

Since Nintendo loves getting mobile stuff on Switch, they should try to get that Knives PUBG clone.

Between 200k and 300k pre-registrations at atm. No release date yet. Game was in Famitsu last week (as part of a bigger Cygames feature).

If things go well Fortnite might be the biggest system seller of the summer.

We've seen it happen with the PS4 and XB1 in the US, but so far Fortnite hasn't been nearly as big in Japan. If the Switch version can make the difference, it could be huge.

Kouya Koudou? Yeah, that game is super popular among some of my slightly older students. I think part of Epic's plan with releasing on Switch is to make some ground against that game in Japan.
