Looks like pokemon will breach 1M on smash week. Also looks like switch will dip below 100k next week before Smash

Decent for Switch and Let's Go, especially hardware. Let's Go could have held better IMO.

A specific reason to why Switch had better numbers last year this week?
I for sure though it was going to be in line with that this year as well..

Nice to see PS4 jump get up a bit =)

Good Switch week, what's left? Mario and Smash? It should rise above 300k the Smash week.

Pokemon had a pretty normal drop; will drop again in the next few weeks, will rise before Christmas, and then drop completely the next year, won't join the evergreen group. Used sales will hit this game hard; that's pretty easy to predict, since it's normal for single player RPGs.

What will sell more worldwide? Pokemon Let's Go or BotW? That's the real question IMO, I'm leaning on BotW more and more; especially since when the new Pokemon is announced next year, Let's Go will be forgotten.

I thought Switch might drop even lower so 100k+ is pretty good. Pokémon though is disappointing, the drop seems fairly typical when we were hoping for something better (200k+ at least).

Let's Go drop basically matches the prior pokemon games drops at 75% down on the second week (Both Sun and Moon as well as Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon dropped 75%.) At present, looks like Let's Go is going to have similar legs to the previous pokemon games. So the smaller opening is going to affect it.

For those saying that the Let's Go games were going to have better legs... we'll have to wait and see on that. Second Week looks like regular pokemon legs to me. And I imagine the game will follow a similar sales pattern to the previous games as well in Japan.

Now it's the waiting game until Smash really. That game is going to have some pretty big numbers.

SM and USUM dropped over 80% when you factor in the dual packs.

I think it will have better legs than past Pokemon games. It'll be one of the go-to games people pick up when buying a Switch. And this is the first Pokemon game on the Switch so no competition. And with it being tied to Pokemon Go it should remain relevant and in the public's mind.

Shenmue numbers are solid especially when you add digital. Not bad for a 20 yr old port. Heard it sold a good portion of its stock

Kinda meh numbers overall for Nintendo. Good debuts for the PS4 titles.

The Sony fanbase in Japan seems to be really transforming generally into western game fans.

Looking at the next 5 week for switch sales last year I could see this year being significantly up. Smash bros week alone may well be up to 200-250K above the corresponding week last year. So whilst the YTD is even right now id imagine that's going to change very quickly.

I doubt it. Audiences are very different.
If/when we get more western releases on the Switch that are day and date with the PS4 version we can see. In the next month or so the Switch will have outsold the PS4 LTD and that gap will only grow larger and larger. At some point I'd think any game would do better on Switch just given how many more people own one. But that case study may never happen if western devs don't start considering the Switch

Nice hold for Switch. Still BARELY above last year's YTD.

Also, the evergreens are rising again. Big weeks ahead

Yes, exactly.

I can't see this as a good thing.

It's fine overall. Considering what's on the horizon there isn't much to worry about. Smash Special will pish dumb hardware. The system wasn't as stromg in 2018 as I would have hoped though. The lack of hardware pushing software in H1 was the main culprit.

Nice for Battlefield, and a nice little bump for PS4. Seems like EA really outdid themselves with BFV, must be one of the best entries in the series.

Somewhere. I think.
Pretty solid drop for Pokémon imo, but I wonder how much the Switch bundles selling out during launch week impacted sales during second week.

Curious about Minecraft bundle on Friday, not expecting much from it, but it'll be hard to gauge its impact due to incoming Smash.

That's the real question IMO, I'm leaning on BotW more and more; especially since when the new Pokemon is announced next year, Let's Go will be forgotten.

im pretty strongly thinking BoTW
