More like old people friendlyNone of those hamstring snapping dance moves in the Fornite booth. Those are tame and kid-friendly.
It's the entire reason why this game is popular with adults. Even if you leave it for months the villagers will probably ask are you OK and cheer you up.
I'm very excited. Both as a fan of the game and an observer of sales. I don't think it's going to beat New Leaf, but I'm looking forward to seeing it try!
I was guessing a "not Smash/Pokémon"-esque opening sales for Animal Crossing due to it's nature of being a "daily app" which would make people prefer downloading it rather than purchasing a physical copy. After all these pre-order bonuses and other junk people will get when purchasing a physical copy, I dare to say it will be within 7-digit numbers on opening, and blast Switch HW sales somewhere between 250k and 350k.
Most people seem to be expecting AC switch to go higher than new leaf overall (and I agree), but what about retail only comparisons?
New Leaf had quite a decent digital share itself due to launch shortages, but New Horizons' share will of course be bigger. It's so hard to say, but I'm not convinced the 4.5M retail number would be impossible for ACNH.Most people seem to be expecting AC switch to go higher than new leaf overall (and I agree), but what about retail only comparisons?

I'm really wondering how many of the limited edition version of the MIku game they printed. For such a huge otaku fan favorite to not be sold out on Amazon just a few days before release is very much not expected.
Yes. Nintendo even made an official statement saying that this is the case. With the coronavirus stopping production in China, would that impact any possible casual games that use peripherals like RFA that could arrive later in the year? Such as lower stock or their release timing?

New Horizons will start much stronger than New Leaf but if exceeding 6m lifetime sales is expected from most people it's not an easy task. Most people seem to be expecting AC switch to go higher than new leaf overall (and I agree), but what about retail only comparisons?
If Animal Crossing is getting an expansion like the in-game purchase is making us believe, it'll greatly affect its legs, especially if it's more expansive than Welcome Amiibo.
Please do understand that I'm speaking mainly of otaku, the ones that live for limited edition goods like the 10th anniversary box. I completely understand that for those that aren'tA lot of Miku fans are skipping this one (myself included). Very little new content and releasing as a full price game. I'll get it when I can pick it up used for 2000yen or so.
Both Switch and Ring Fit look to have avoided extreme supply problems last week. Current one will be more difficult.

Yeah, it's definitely going to be tough. Maybe enticing and extended dlc will give it an edge, but we will have to wait and see.New Horizons will start much stronger than New Leaf but if exceeding 6m lifetime sales is expected from most people it's not an easy task.

I completely understand that for those that aren'tsuckersdrawn in by 'limited edition' goods to pass on the game itself as it indeed doesn't offer much. But I mean, there's 250 different Miku PVC figures out there. There's a gigantic crowd who aresuckersdrawn in by these sort of limited edition goods, so I was just expressing my surprise that Amazon still has both the Amazon exclusive LE and the regular LE in stock so close to release.

What can we expect for tomorrow's numbers ? Were the supply issues severe enough to stop the YoY growth ?Lite can have decent supply for a few more weeks. If production in China restarts soon and a big part of potential Animal Crossing buyers shifts to Lite because of no other alternative Switch will survive in February without big loses.
Previous week was likely the last OG Switch could pull some respectable numbers.
The way the PR was worded makes me believe shortages won't really kick in just yet, and it was simply a warning due to the impending release of AC (basically telling people that if they want the console in time for the game, they better buy it NOW). Of course, it's likely the announcement led to an increase in sales due to people doing just that, so shortages will come sooner rather than later anyway.
Or maybe I'm just spouting non-sense. We'll see how things go in the next couple of weeks anyway.
Shortages started before the PR at some stores (especially online stores). It wasn't spread to the whole country yet, but it was already at low levels everywhere.
At the moment the OG model is completely sold out, both online and retail stores. For Week 6 it will move the last units it had, and along with the Lite, it will still manage to be above last year numbers, but for Week 7 numbers will drop to 2-3k or lower if there isn't a new shipment. Lite will have to carry Switch sales completely.
Damn, this could be the worst situation for Nintendo with a big game releasing this soon, but Animal Crossing is lucky enough to be an evergreen game.Shortages started before the PR at some stores (especially online stores).
