I am super impressed that ARMS continues to chart, even above recent heavy-hitters like Fighter Z.

Wow MHW will be the first 2 million seller on a Playstation platform since forever. Can someone tell me what the last game doing that was?

Well. Switch rising actually surprised me lol. The upcoming month from Kirby to Labo is going to be huge.

PS4 though. How low it can goes, is the big question. MHW is still da king though.

And this week is week of legs.
Splat 2
Mario kart
Zelda all had +%

Also don't forget 1-2 Switch.

while Odyssey holding like a boss and Mario Rabbids and Bayo 2 is still holding quite good.

Kirby dropping soon is just going to add on even more leggy titles to the chart there lol.

ARMS is clearly aiming at 500k units which, for a new IP in the fighting genre, is pretty astonishing.
At this point unless Nintendo releases a sequel ARMS is on track to clear way past 500k it just keeps on selling and selling and selling.

It will soon* have outsold every PS4 fighter combined

* soon can be anywhere between now and the end of times, soon doesn't guarentee that it will happen, just that it's a possibility. I shouldn't be held accountable if soon never happens nor should I be liable for soon never happening.

08./12. [3DS] Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2017.11.17} (¥4.980) - 9.930 / 1.576.586 (+15%)

B2/W2 comparisons don't lead anywhere.

S/M is at 16m with 4m coming from Japan and 12m from west.

US/UM will sell 1,5-2m in Japan which means it will need 4,5-5m from west in order to reach the lowest selling third entry of Crystal at 6,5m. If US collapses as much as UK it doesn't happen. 3DS is already struggling to sell software, there won't be magic legs appearing from nowhere next year.

Never underestimate Pokemon Chris1964 :p

Zelda is an evergreen.

So happy to see good, modern game design rewarded over stale, handholding formulas.

If pokemon does some modernizing it could be even bigger than it is already.

Japan
It is, but stock situation has improved dramatically in the past couple of months. Nowadays, it's fairly easy to find one if you live a in biggish city (now, if you're from Vinnk's village, tough luck :P).

I saw my first Switch "in the wild" 2 weeks ago. Since then I have spotted 4 or 5 more. They are still sold out most places but it is not the crazy supply constraints of 2017.
PS4 seems to be getting restocked, I saw some at both Best Denki and Yamada Denki. But last week a few places I went to were sold out. Not enough data for me to make a call so this week the PS4 sales might still be affected by shortages. I'll try to hit up a few places on my way home from work tomorrow.

Breath of the Wild at nearly 900k and still in the top 5 one year after release. Nobody expected such a performance, and I'm glad Japan is receiving the title so well.

Good to see Arms and Xenoverse 2 back in the top 20. It seems like they never die lol. Arms is going to hit 400k in the next couple months, and Xenoverse 2 is already selling more weekly than DBFZ which is pretty insane. Bandai Namco need to port DBFZ to the Switch as soon as possible. DQB sold a bit less than I was expecting (32-35k) but nothing major. Remember everyone that Xenoverse 2 on the Switch opened at 24k and now it's over 124k. It's too early to say that those sales are possible for DQB, but it's also too early to say it won't have legs at all. Nonetheless, it's a two year old port so it shouldn't be expected to outsell the original releases.

Switch sees a nice little boost this week. March and April should be good months for it with Kirby, Labo, etc. on the horizon. PS4 with a drop that's a bit more unexpected, although part of that could be due to stock issues. I do expect sales to remain in a similar range for it moving forward though, at least until the next big release (KH3 or maybe Granblue Fantasy).

PS4 is so inextricably linked to Dragon Quest XI that the PS4 version coming to the West is treated as a foregone conclusion by most people. I doubt there will be any confusion between the time it (possibly) shows up in the Nintendo Direct tomorrow and the time the press release mentioning the PS4 version comes out. It will most likely just be treated as an "oh, so it's also coming to Switch" type of announcement.

Of course there's still the possibility of DQXI being only announced for 3DS in the Direct.

Now that would be fun

PUBG? (Battle Royale games are popular on mobile and Steam in Japan)

Using XB1X to mine cryptocurrency? (Still waiting to see if this is plausible)

Who knows.

It's "feasible", but not worth it. You'd still have to buy a mother board, a PSU etc. It's better to buy 400$ GPU instead.

Consoles should stay outside the mining bubble for now.

What I'm curious of is if ARMS will reach 2m shipped. It's selling slowly, but consistently. So even if it's not charting that much in many countries, it's still there under the charts.

It was at 1.61m by December 31st and has already sold over 60k physical in just Japan since the beginning of the year.

What do you guys think?

MHW vs splatoon 2 is a fun race. I wonder if MHW has done more when you include digital.

PS4 facing stock shortages when its 5 years old....something must of went wrong in the supply chain. Or MHW depleted what they expected in a far larger time frame.

DQXI's reveal should be interesting.
A Direct seems to make sense since it's a good place to announce the localized version/show it off as well as showing off the switch port. Likely a bigger headline assuming they're going to launch the game in Japan and the west at the same time.

Could always be its own separate event, of course

It's gonna be real interesting to see how DQB2 goes, it's releasing on Switch and PS4 at the same time right? A true direct head-to-head sales battle as opposed to 'late port, hard to tell' etc stuff.

They really need to get FighterZ on Switch asap.

Leggy games, Switch first party titles and MHW doing really well.

How did Xenoverse 2 do for the Ps4? Switch version definately seems like a success at this point, DBZ should be coming.

PS4 version was at 135k I believe (Famitsu number, physical + digital). So, Switch version is going to easily outsell the original release in Japan.

Edit:
PS4 Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 [All Versions] 61.375 139.303 Bandai Namco 02/11/2016
Source. These numbers may be a little outdated, so depending on how many units it's sold past the last update, it might take a while for Switch to outsell the OG release, but it's very likely going to happen, and even if weren't, it would still be a massive performance regardless.

Yep, I'm sure DQB will have good legs (100k LTD is in reach), but DQB2 is where it'll become interesting.

Although if I had to guess, I think the NSW version will vastly outsell the PS4 version of DQB2. Dragon Quest and its spin-offs are evergreen titles and especially DQB benefitted a lot from the handheld nature of the PSV (and will continue to do so on NSW).

Code:
Media Create CY 2016

017./000. [PSV] Dragon Quest Builders # <ADV> (Square Enix) {2016.01.28} (¥5.980) - 302.301 / NEW (178.016 <82,89%>)

027./000. [PS4] Dragon Quest Builders <ADV> (Square Enix) {2016.01.28} (¥7.800) - 216.321 / NEW (141.369 <85,36%>)

065./000. [PS3] Dragon Quest Builders <ADV> (Square Enix) {2016.01.28} (¥6.800) - 110.457 / NEW (53.154 <89,44%>)

PSV's FW share is 178.016 / 372.539 = 47,8%.
PSV's LTD share is 302.301 / 629.079 = 48,1%.

So half of the PS sales were on PSV, despite the game's release on three platforms. Like I said, DQ is a title that sells anywhere. Its historical performance has been great on both Nintendo and PlayStation. My guess is that most of these PSV players will move to the NSW, where they may rebuy DQB for the save data import option or just get DQB2 without any DQB save data. Add the audience that's on Nintendo but without PSV and you get a big player base. The only advantages the PS4 has over the NSW is the save data import from the PSV version of DQB, and higher resolution/technical specs (and of course system features, like achievements). I personally think the majority of the 'casual' audience doesn't care a bit about that and will prefer the handheld version.

If the PS4 is having hardware shortages it isn't being reflected in the charts. The decay over the last few weeks has been too consistent (with itself and MHW's) to be the results of shortages. If people can't find a system at one store, they find an alternative... be that at a different store, a different color, a different mode, or different condition. It looks to me like the Pro may have hit its baseline earlier (which isn't surprising for a premium product) and the base model may still have a little room to drop. Its unlikely that there's any pent up demand.

So you think it's going to be Switch exclusive in the West? I don't really see that happening.
I'm not ruling it out. The silence about the game's western release is deafening. It's all but certain that some kind of deal has been made. We just don't know what or who or even where.

I see absolutely no situation where Nintendo publishes the Nintendo versions while Sony publishes the Sony version. Those two companies aren't going to play so nice without getting something out of it for themselves. If there's a publishing agreement, we're probably looking at a timed-exclusive (at best).
