There will be a video reveal soon so that pre-orders open but it looks an ambitious entry which if it doesn't catch neither now at west it will likely be the last one. At least for Japan things could look good for sales since Labo has created an audience.

It's smart to switch things up with LABO. Concept is really good but I guess pricing didn't really appeal to customers.
Surprised that the expansion kits are as cheap as they are, you can get basically everything for the same price as the entire VR kit.

I do wonder about the rumored switch lite and how they'll deal with that, perhaps that's why they're selling the individual $20 kits separately?

I speculated that Nintendo might bundle in some labo with the Switch lite since it does not seem compatible with anything form factor that is not the current switch.
If in the packaging nintendo included the basic labo VR set, they'd have a pretty robust installbase to sell VR/enhanced titles too without increasing the cost of manufacturing.
Wouldn't add value without risking the loss of sales of evergreens like bundling Mario Kart would. If Nintendo is going to enhance titles (perhaps like MK8D), it would actually promote more sales.

I believe I predicted Octopath would outsell Xeno WW back when they were announced in 1/2017.

....also thought Octopath would do more in Japan, which may have messed up my guess.

It's not done selling. It still could inch towards it. SE fucked up the shipments in Japan hard though.

Depends on just how much it's above 1.5m

I don't know know how much it's still selling. Xeno has at least been charting the eshop several times after it's initial run.

Octo and xeno are currently in a race to 2 million, they both will eventually get there tho which is a great win for jrpgs

I don't see how they will both sell more 500K. Nintendo doesn't even promote them anymore and people can buy used copies.

RPGs are frontloaded. Digital sales can help get to that yes (I think it's the only way to be honest), but I still don't think it's a lock for games like this.

No doubt in my mind they will release those numbers - I don't think you realize how early the Switch is in its lifecycle and how many cards are still left to play regarding these titles.

Revision/price drop this year and FE/Persona/DQ/Pokemon and co. will result in a big part of the rpg audience moving or expanding to Switch.

I think OT and XB2 would need to be part of one big sales at the end of the year on the eShop to get close to these numbers...but they will be part of sales for the next 4-5 years and assuming Switch Pro/Switch 2 have full BC even longer than that.

500k isn't that much for exclusives quality JRPGs that haven't gotten price drops yet.

I know a bunch of people that want Octopath but just aren't ready to shell out 60 bucks for it.
