Good thing the medieval knights prevailed in their war against the rabbit menace, imagine if you still had to worry about getting murdered by armed and dangerous bunnies whenever you take a stroll in the European nature.

2024 and people still don't realise Redwall was historically accurate.

Now I am wondering who is responsible for keeping this epic struggle between man and rabbits out of my history books? Clearly the world must be secretly ran by them.

Also nice to have yet more documented proof that dogs are our best friends.

I'm just glad we won the war over the bunnies back then! Just imagine if they had won 😅

Wait so… why? What do they represent? (Besides sick ass bunnies)
Scribes obviously never explained their margin jokes anywhere since it just made sense to people of the time but there are multiple likely reasons.
For one, rabbits often symbolized cowardice in medieval times, so reverse portrayal of them as marauders and warriors was funny because it was so absurd. For another, rabbits - and snails that were other recurring villains in margin drawings, picture related - were a scourge in gardens and farms, and monks who produced a lot of these books and art likely really hated those little bastards and saw them as invasive ruffians.

Legit need a novel that's about a group of human sized rabbits who ride huge snails into war against Albion humans with their dog servant soldiers.
