The Paris debut is on the 12th and the review embargo lifts immediately after so you'd think they were confident in this one considering its two weeks early

Will wait for real reviews but the trailer alone was art

So I was hyped for Cruise Missile but now that it's pointed out Cavill gains a beard and morphs into a new shirt by reloading his goddamn arms, I might do a full price night, fuck a matinee next afternoon.

I mean, there have only been 2 Bond films since MI4 came out, and many consider Skyfall a masterpiece (not me, but I do enjoy it). And no MI movie comes close to Casino Royale.

So I would give Casino Royale the slight edge over MI3, which was itself a fantastic film and essentially the start of the modern MI series after 1 and 2.

But Ghost Protocol > Quantum of Solace
Rogue Nation = Skyfall (IMO)
And it looks like Fallout > Spectre (not a difficult hurdle)

So overall the series has been better. I can see an argument for ranking Skyfall over Rogue Nation.

However, if we don't go chronologically, I'd put Ghost Protocol over Skyfall.

Is there a breakdown somewhere of where all the Mission Impossible movies are streaming?

So pumped for this.

Couple impression from French journos

Google translation:
#MissionImpossibleFallout it plays in the same yard as #RogueNation, that is to say the big level of the set. Easy my favorite blockbuster of 2018 so far. Great job @chrismcquarrie & @TomCruise!

#MissionImpossibleFallout seen in Paris. A spectacular-aggressive blockbuster with terrific action scenes, great characters and a crazy finale. Christopher McQuarrie introduced the movie: Cut was completed just 5 days ago, Tom Cruise saw him yesterday.

MI2 is too insane to be bad.

I love it too, but in fairness: there's a good hour long dead spot in the center of the movie where it's doing nothing but setting up the plot/final act, and frankly the plot isn't good or complex enough to warrant that much runtime. The plot unfortunately just isn't smart enough to go that long between action scenes imo. But the final 30 minutes or so is fucking fire.

dope, didn't like 4 that much. but all of the movies (ALL of them) are reliable for their action sequences. and McQuarrie made an enjoyable spy action flick with Rogue Nation. last big movie I'm watching this summer prolly. nothing else this month has been interesting for blockbusters.

the trailers have been a blast, looks even more entertaining than the last one.

The action looks really good but I'll just be glad I won't have to see the trailer played in front of every movie like it has been for like the last 6 months, or maybe it's just because I go to a lot of action films.

The MI films I really couldn't care less about in terms of plot but they do seem like good popcorn films.

Fuck 'The Rock is the last action star we got left' takes, Cruise is like three times better and more charismatic.

Positive Twitter impressions?

The trailers are fucking banging though. I've loved the last two or three, as well.

I've not liked any of the stuff in the trailers outside of the few bits with Henry Cavill, and I have no idea what the overarching story is for these movies, so who some of the characters are is lost on me. That said, I'm mildly interested, but will probably only see it because of the AMC subscription.

(Does one of the trailers spoil a big twist with Cavill's character?)

Ghost Protocol is on Netflix at least, you should watch it if you're interested in the series

What really keeps me from really digging these is that the characters are fucking lame.

It's cool watching super-powered Cruise do his thing, but any scenes that isn't a set-piece that involves any of the supporting characters are usually terrible.

It wasn't as good as Ghost Protocol but how dare you?
Ghost Nation doubles down on Simon Pegg and has a terrible villain

The action and Rebecca Fergusen are top-notch though

you're confusing Rogue Nation with Ghost Protocol brah. Ghost Protocol is in Dubai and has the most nothingest villain in the entire series. Rogue Nation oneups the movie with the mousey ginger guy for the bad guy at least. it was better than 4 tbh

Mission 3 is in my opinion the weakest.

JJ is great but not for a movie like this.

After a million fucking superhero movies of varying quality this year, and fucking Jurassic World, I am EXTREMELY ready for this movie. Sometimes you don't know how much you need something until it's been gone, and grown up action movies are that for me right now.

Ghost Protocol is a terrible movie, I will never understand the love for it. Do people only remember the awesome Dubai sequence and nothing else about that mediocre badly structured movie with a forgettable villain with no plan other than 'I want destroy world kay' who only appears for 10 minutes?

Rogue Nation is an awesome spy caper all the way through.

Fight me.

The villain in Rogue Nation was probably worse. Honestly can't remember though.

Rogue Nation has the opera house scene and Tom Cruise dangling from an airplane. It's better than Ghost Protocol.

The trailers for this have looked amazing. I don't have time to watch all the movies before this, so if there's a continuing plot, which should I absolutely watch?

I hope they start using some cash to get some proper bad guys, Phillip Seymour Hoffman was the last good one before those boring business type guys from the last two.
