That's a fantastic pitch video. And the audio playing at the very end sent shivers down my spine.
I agree. I was just briefly entertaining the idea. I've gone for the Bookmaker tier. The working Myst book is cool but you wil open it a few times... sit on a shelf... battery eventually runs dry.
Years later you open it again and the screen in dead. Easy to replace the battery?
It's definitely cool but very nick nacky.
And if you connect a USB cable (not included) to the book, you might just discover some other digital goodies we've included!

Although what could these goodies be?
lol
Never played it. Does it hold up?
Edit:
Just saw its a book form. Shit I need this.
I wonder why there isn't a pack with like soundtracks and books.
to be fair, that puzzle is a good 70% of the entire gameAs a teenager that fucking marble puzzle in Riven still haunts my dreams
to be fair, that puzzle is a good 70% of the entire game
i never actually solved it on my own until just a few years ago, as a teenager i never would have stood a chance
I had 4 of them perfect, but the last one I only had a general idea. Had to keep placing it one space away until it stuck.to be fair, that puzzle is a good 70% of the entire game

Absolutely brilliant news. This should show that there's still plenty of market potential for a new Myst game, even though Obduction went somewhat under the radar.
Yeah I've just seen. Pretty incredible.I've just had a look at the Kickstarter page and it's already reached double the target amount within 48 hours. Whilst the surge will trickle off in the next few days as it does for all Kickstarters, hopefully this results in enough extra funds to get the Mac versions sorted in a timely manner too.
I loved taking notes. It's so cool opening up the game case of Myst and seeing my scribbly notes from a playthrough 10 years ago. It's funny seeing how my mind worked.Just looking at that classic top view of the Myst island floods my brain with nostalgia. I still remember my brother got it on his 3DO back in the day and we were sucked in. Taking notes in a marble notebook so we didn't forget certain things. This was back when the internet wasn't really a thing so you HAD to take notes instead of just lazily looking up a FAQ. Trying to figure out what those box/lever things were on the main island, the little ship model in the center, the dentist chair with the star alignment thing, the atmospheric music.
The game also creeped me the hell out. Seeing the two brothers stuck in the books gave me the creeps. Also the music in that underground chamber right at the start with the message in the pool scared the fuck out of me. I couldnt play the game by myself because it frightened me too much. I remember there was a puzzle in the ship world where you go deep underground to this circular panel with buttons all the way around it. Only one button would turn the power on I think, but if you hit the wrong one, the loud ass buzzer would go off and all the lights would go out, making you try to find your way all the way back to the top and out. Get the shivers thinking about that.
Good god those first two games were ridiculously good. I'm trying to decide whether to get the 49 or 99 backer option. I like having physical backups that I can install somewhere else if needed(like a friends house) but hmm.
Jesus, what!? O_oGreat news, however remembering how disappointed I was when I received my physical boxed edition of Obduction (https://m.imgur.com/s8poxpE) there's no way I'll pledge for the boxed version they're promising this time...
The story is interesting throughout all the games, but just keep in mind it's not always told directly to you and you have to discover it through journals and world exploration.I only ever got into the story of the first game, and the very beginning of Riven. How does the plot progress throughout the other games? I loved the story with the sons and the red and blue books in Myst.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic but toasters should be able to run these games.

It's worth noting that the DS and 3DS ports of Myst are pretty terrible.
Yep. Had no 3D whatsoever, as far as I know it was the DS version on a 3DS cart.
The DS version is especially fun because it swaps back and forth between the original pre-rendered images and screenshots of the realtime 3D version of the game. Console ports of Myst have been super sketchy, I count myself very lucky that my first Myst experience was on the Saturn, which was a pretty solid version.
the locations for each marble aren't so bad (the game basically gives them to you at the mapping island), it's the color part that fucked me upto be fair, that puzzle is a good 70% of the entire game

Riven HAS, though really recently.Correct, but Riven and End of Ages haven't been updated to work properly on any modern OS, and Exile and Revelation have just been totally unavailable because Ubisoft.
Riven HAS, though really recently.
SCUMMVM, the point and click interpreter emulator added full support for Riven last December, and the GOG (and not Steam) version takes full advantage of it. And if you have the original discs you can run it with SCUMMVM as well.
Riven 2: the Sequel to Riven, the sequel to Myst
You destroyed Riven in the end of the game tho. Only Moiety/the new age remains
You can make same easy-to-run icon with any ScummVM games if you want =) (and GoG do this)I love SCUMMVM, but sometimes you just want to click on the Steam icon and have it work.
