Apologies if there's a thread out there regarding TVs, haven't managed to find one.

For those who missed the thread on GAF, there was a bit of an outrage when LG recently updated their 2016 OLED TVs that screwed up the picture for the HDR Gaming preset (note: if that has been fixed by any recent updates, kindly let me know). There was a method to downgrade the upgrade, which I managed to do, but the downside is that my LG TV constantly notifies me to install the latest update every time I turn the TV on. I can get around this by keeping my TV offline, but then I won't be able to use Netflix (which, incidentally, is far better than the Netflix apps included on consoles and other devices).

A few members suggested setting up Open DNS on my router in order to block LG's updates, but I have yet to manage setting it up correctly. I even tried following the guide on https://www.opendns.com/, but it still isn't working. I'm hoping someone here can direct me to the settings I need to adjust in order to get this going.

I'll be happy to post screenshots for my router's current setup, but first I would like to know what information can be publicly shared and what needs to stay hidden to avoid potential security leaks.
