Hahaha, well it's kind very "highschool" even though the people involved are all late 20s to early 30s, so it has a bit (or a lot??) of stupid associated with it.
I hope this game inspires them to do more outside the usual chibi style of the series.

the game is made by Wayforward. the people who made the sprites are westerners
the first footage came from Wayforward themselves (think they also publish it in the west). and the spriters comment on the jp twitter updates a lot
2 to 3 hours for SoR2 is an extremely generous assessment of it play time, an hour is about right for somebody who is competent but still not rushing through it.
Yeah the genre usually about good times, not long times.
Yeah you can see that in the original river city where a complete run is about 7hr vs 2 hrs if you're just playing through.
