January Direct needs to be huge now, 2020 line-up is feeling strangely dry now. Most of already announced 2020 titles are still in very early development stage with few exceptions. I don't think we'll see MP4, Bayo 3, BOTW2, SMTV, etc., anytime soon. I hope Nintendo don't become heavily dependent over Animal Crossing for next years' first half.

mark my words, botw 2 will be delayed a la the first. the announcement was too early. remember when they announced bayonetta 3? where's that thing? how about prime 4? we all know how that turned out. nintendo has had more then a few instances of announcing games too early, including the first botw. a delayed game is eventually good yada yada etc

you can't delay a game that doesn't have a date

I can't believe I gave in to blind fanboy hype when I knew deep down they wouldn't show BotW2 until E3 2020 at the earliest. :(

The real shocker was no Smash announcement tbh.

Well, at least the January Direct is sure to be pretty good.

Welp, lost the Zelda 2, half-won the third party exclusive. My specific pick of a new Sidebar Games title got announced, but uh - two days early. So yeah, see you in a few weeks, Mark of the Wolves avatar.

Didn't vote but damn I would have bet a kidney on BOTW2 or Bayo 3.

Nintendo truly is one step ahead.

I was already expecting the worst with only a Smash Ultimate character announcement and didn't even got that. Worst Nintendo presentation at the game awards glad I only watched the first hour.

Yeah, along with Xenoblade 2 !

It's easy to take a random example and make it be the rule.
Might come in 2020, might not, we'll see.

Boy, am i glad i didn't sign up for that avatar bet.

Nintendo went fully random for the TGAs. NMH 3 trailer is random in every aspect even. ^^

They have games for 2020 ! Secret games! We're gonna have at least 1 game a month ! Merging of the outputs !
At this point, it safer to bet on tweets that come out of nowhere (a la RFA) than events.

3rd party Exclusive - ok
First Party game - dammit > <

yes No Breath of the Wild
yes DLC for an Existing Game
yes Third Party Exclusive

no smash dlc
no metroid
no bayo
no smt
no first party reveal
no nothing

Funny thing only one person voted for DLC for an existing game being Marvel Ultimate Alliance ... and was a COWARD

Glad I didn't take part seeing what happened. I thought for sure we would've gotten at least 1 big announcement since we got Bayonetta 3 and Joker in Smash the past two years. (I guess that was BD2, but I don't think it landed like one.)

Don't be silly, they've never announced a ton of new games at The Game Awards. Last year we only got Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 in terms of new announcements as well, so it's not like going from Ultimate Alliance last year to Bravely Default 2 this year is some kind of huge decline.

My friends, you courageous who put your avatars on the line and who lost! If you have been tagged on this post, then you know why I called you!

Some of you bet on the inevitability of Breath of the Wild 2! Some believe in the return of Bayonetta! Some of you thought there would be a new first party exclusive! Some of you believed there would be nothing.

Here, HERE! The full list of things from Nintendo at the Game Awards:

  1. DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance
  2. A trailer for the existing game No More Heroes 3
  3. The reveal of Bravely Default 2

And that covers it. The vast, vast majority of us lose. Here is your new face!

nuinwrG.jpg

Some of you are already wearing it. Some of you are not. Some of you are banned and can't be tagged for various reasons, but whatever!

Wear this avatar until the end of the next full Nintendo Direct. Not Smash Direct, not Indie Direct, not Sakurai Stream. Nintendo Direct.

And sound off! Let's see everyone wearing these proudly!

I started this thread by suggesting that, in betting on Nintendo's particular participation in the Game Awards, we would be trying to predict The Most Impossible Thing. Little did we know.

It has been an honor to believe alongside all of you; it will be an honor to wear a silly avatar alongside all of you.

Is there any variations of this? I got the "no zelda 2" right so it feels wrong to wear it saying zelda 2 xD
I believe Raccoon has posted a few variations throughout the thread; you can feel free to grab one of those. The Zelda 2 text is just there since that's what really started the thread in the first place.
