You're probably thinking of the massive YoY jumps it has been having this year. The numbers in OP are for last year which had the PS5 trading blows with the Switch for unit sales regularly and sometimes even coming in 3rd due to supply issues.
For its age? It outsold both current generation consoles. It's interesting that there seems to be a general tendency to qualify Nintendo sales.
This is last year when stock was awful. It's has dominated this entire year and 2023 will look very different.
It's also doing unprecedentedly great for a console that was in its 6th year last year. That observation stands up well on its own!
That is definitely true, maybe I read into that comment something that actually wasn't intended. Switch is definitely killing it for being so far along in its lifecycle.

The "k" stands for thousand. So 5000k is 5 million (5000000)
iirc their sales are tracked in batches of 1k, so thats how they are reported (i might be wrong)
If this the sales for the year, that seems... low? In context of Switch's lifetime sales, I mean. That's why I was confused.
It might have been the momentum from the strong holiday 2021, then 2022 only had grounded, as dusk falls and pentiment.
I think the wild part is how the PS5 wound up passing Xbox after the slow start to the year for PS5.

Its probably more impressive how its doing vs the Series S. At one point, with discounts/promotions, the Series S was as cheap as the Switch Lite.
