A nice idea until you realize that it'll be the same type of people who volunteer for the next batch.

What type of requirements? The community policing/full abolition people are nutcases.can't volunteer for the next batch if part of the rebuild has the necessary requirements people call for.

Again... it's a nice a idea, but those types of people generally don't want to be cops. It'll always be a dangerous job with terrible hours. People with higher degrees can make more money doing almost anything else -- with a better lifestyle.i've typically heard for strict requirements to even be considered, so higher degrees of education. significantly longer periods of training that involve more constant and robust psych evals, etc. stuff like that that weeds out people who barely graduated highschool with a hard-on for being an authority figure who can kill indiscriminately
If we were to also go down the community route then those that volunteer would be required to live in neighborhoods they patrol. Nobody wants to kill their neighbor, and you're damn sure no neighborhood is gonna condone violence against its members.i've typically heard for strict requirements to even be considered, so higher degrees of education. significantly longer periods of training that involve more constant and robust psych evals, etc. stuff like that that weeds out people who barely graduated highschool with a hard-on for being an authority figure who can kill indiscriminately
Maybe we should restructure the economic model if it means people who have the education and attitudes to help provide protection to society wouldn't want the job. Also, being a cop has been steadily less "dangerous" as time has went on. It's purely copaganda that police are in danger 24/7. You should go down to a protest and see how much danger their lives are in when you're standing in a crowd with shotguns being pointed at you.Again... it's a nice a idea, but those types of people generally don't want to be cops. The only difference between these pigs and all the rest is these ones got caught squealing.

That one guy thought he did. "Hey don't get caught dude, I think they're starting to get onto us."
The same can be said about teachers (minus the violence, usually) and yet there's plenty of them because people often take shit jobs because they like actually making a difference.Again... it's a nice a idea, but those types of people generally don't want to be cops.
