I don't think you're entirely wrong, but it speaks volumes of the Trump era that were debating whether the POTUS being on tape discussing committing a campaign finance violation to pay off a porn star he had an affair with after the birth of his child will move the needle at all.

And people laughed when I said that Trump is to the USA as Caligula was to the Roman Empire

This is why if Mueller has dirt on Trump he should let us know now so we can stop the damage Trump is doing sooner rather than later.
I'd love to know too, but I guess so would certain other people. I don't blame Mueller for keeping his cards close to his chest (though I fail to see anything out of the ordinary).

Didn't Tom Arnold say there was worse shit out there that hasn't been leaked yet? Just when you think this whole thing couldn't get any more ridiculous.

I wish this didn't have to be on the news. Sex stuff doesn't matter or hurt him. We need to keep talking about how obviously he's compromised and how much of a traitor he is. That should be the drumbeat. Not sex and cheating and paying people off over it. That's already "priced in" to Trump - Since his election - and doesn't hurt him.

This. And I was just watching the news. AT WORST he might get a fine over this. He probably wont even face any punishment because he's President.

There's more to this than press coverage. It could be evidence of breaking the law. It's not just scandal .

Which doesn't matter. Republicans won't impeach him over a sex thing and the voter base in general will shrug it off. They don't care.

We should be laser focused on his treason and the fact that he's owned by the Russians. This is what has the highest chance of damaging him - Not sex things.

Nothing hurts him. Like he said, he could literally murder a man on stage and his shit ass fans would still love him.

So the press shouldn't cover the President breaking the law because he won't be punished for it?

That doesn't really work. People should know about any crimes he committed. People should know what the GOP are letting him get away with.

This isn't sex stuff as much as it is campaign finance fraud. This is Trump using bribery, conspiracy and corruption to subvert the election process.

It's clear they're choosing to make this the story. It's at least less bad than continuing with his attitude towards Putin.

I love Giuliani's can-do attitude in still trying to spin this positively. He truly Trump's knight in shining black armor

Oh how I long for the days when a simple "yeeaaaah!" could destroy a presidential candidacy.

The philandering is shitty but covering it up with hush money and violating campaign finance laws alone should alone be grounds for impeachment.

My dream scenario is him getting taken out by this sleazy premise and then Mueller's other inquiries land him in jail after office.

Why doesn't it make sense? You see any Republicans coming out to criticize Trump over this? Newt Gingrich? Fox and Friends? This is a classic "take your side" story which is a marked improvement over the summit coverage where he was getting destroyed from every corner.

To John Q. "I see a few headlines here and there" public, the story is that the FBI has incriminating recordings of Donald Trump made by his lawyer.

If this is a distraction move, it's a really bad one.

I was going to isolate a gif of the beginning tape section but as the whole commercial is themed around espionage, thought I might as well post the whole video.

If they leaked it themselves, it's for something to do with the investigation itself. There's no point in trying to steer the story away from Putin/Russia when the WH is planning to just steer it back there themselves with a damn Putin visit to the White House.

It doesn't really matter what their goal was. It's become completely clear that this information was volunteered to The New York Times by the Trump camp for some reason.

I guess that's the benefit of being an 80s kid, you literally grew up watching this guy be a con-man.

Yeah growing up in NY we were especially well aware of all his bullshit. That's part of the reason why 2016 was so baffling to me. It takes all of a few minutes to realize what a piece of human garbage this guy is and you have at least 30 years of documented instances of him being a piece of shit...ages before he ever thought about running for president and back when he considered himself a democrat too. Too many people are either really ignorant or just don't care and I'm not sure which is worse.
