They just got bought and are already divided in 3 projects, with a AAA label behind one of them? C'mon, this is the same kind of mistakes Microsoft made previously that led to cancellation of tons of games and closure of studios.
Think about the long run.
Are you talking about that game cancelled in 2012?IIRC it's the project led by Chris Parker and Avellone referred to it as "Skyrim-Esque"
It sucks for PS only gamers but this was honestly the best case scenario. Now they have the financial backing of a publisher/console maker so they do not have to stress out as much when a game does not meet expectations, and Microsoft is releasing these games on Xbox AND PC. The most gamers possible while also giving them financial backing.I can't think of a better-written character than Parvati Holcomb last year. The plotting of TOW was adequate, but the characterization and dialog, particularly from that character, was excellent.
I'm just sad that I won't be playing this new game because it'll be Xbox/PC only. :(
How is this drive by troll Shit allowed?
Yes, because it's not that good, for exemple if you compare it to Fallout New Vegas
I'm quite surprised how many people here didn't like The Outer Worlds.
It was my favorite RPG since Skyrim.
What's wrong with FPS?I would've played it if it had a third person mode. Unfortunately first person only doesn't get my money, so I'll never know if I'd like it more or less than New Vegas.
I'm a simple man, I don't ask too much from my RPGs other than keeping me entertained.
I wouldn't mind a dark fantasy first person melee/range RPG from them. And I mean DARK fantasy.

And yes technically a third party big name publisher could have gotten them, but I don't even want to think what would have happened to them if EA, Activision or Ubisoft had gotten them.
relax
Damn, the future looks brightBetween Inxile, Rare, PG games and Obsidian XGS will have almost all RPG genres covered next gen. Lol.

Seems like millions of people agree with me as well.
Be sure to play Disco Elysium when it comes out on PS4 hopefully this year.I can't think of a better-written character than Parvati Holcomb last year. The plotting of TOW was adequate, but the characterization and dialog, particularly from that character, was excellent.

This term is out of control. If someone doesn't post a dissertation to go along with their unpopular opinion its a drive by and shouldn't be allowed? Ridiculous.
Considering the mods also thought you were trolling he's probably right.

No, the studio that, after being bought, were able to expand to multiple floors, make a office revamp and what not.So one studio who lost their leader, and was bleeding money on the one project they were working for?
Given that The Outer Worlds felt like an audition for Obsidian to make big-budget mainstream-ish RPGs again after Pillars II underperformed, it doesn't surprise me they're working on something big for Microsoft. They made it pretty clear the survival game was a small team endeavor, so I'm not sure why some of you are surprised.
Now, hopefully, whatever this is will be better written and more mechanically interesting than Outer Worlds was. That might be the hardest I've turned on a game in a while, honestly.
Something along the lines of Elder Scrolls please. But a single player game, not some online multiplayer garbage.
They only talked about ps4 and xbox and have only been teasing ps4 from what I know so far.I think it's out on Switch too later this year, so I'm getting it there. I'm very excited about an RPG where you actually, you know, get to mold your character's personality and role in the world through non-combat actions.
The same job posting that lists first person combat also saysFirst person. Cool. I don't have to feel bad about missing it now.
