Very good :D

I guess that could be it but the post in the previous page about there being a final boss made me believe it's only accessible after finishing all the stories.
Are you gonna finish it by then?!
It could just be that you unlock a true final boss once you finish your main character's personal story, leaving it up to the player if they tackle it right away or wait until they finish however many stories they want to do.I guess that could be it but the post in the previous page about there being a final boss made me believe it's only accessible after finishing all the stories.
The only ones that gain experience are the members in the active party.Hmm other doubt...if i have 8 storys, i will always have to level up everyone again? Or i can stick to one character and try to 100% the world ?
Man, if there's really nothing after beating all eight stories that's gonna be such a let down. Like, couldn't they have at least thrown in a bone of some sort of "true" ending scene if you get and complete everyone?Hmmm take this "review" with a grain of salt:

Did he really did break the embargo for this?
Well I mean....it is GameFaq's after all.Man, if there's really nothing after beating all eight stories that's gonna be such a let down. Like, couldn't they have at least thrown in a bone of some sort of "true" ending scene if you get and complete everyone?
I want this to be fake so bad and I know there's been mention of some final boss theme that could imply it might be, but given all the preview impressions so far.... it's probably just gonna end up being true. :(
I don't really care about an overarching narrative. So far the art style es beautiful, the OST is stellar, the combat is fun and we will have to see about the writing and pacing next week, but it looks like it shaping up to be an overall great game. People should evaluate something on what it is and how successful is on what's trying to do, not what you wanted or think should be, otherwise you just set yourself for disappointment.
Agreed.I never really assumed from the beginning that it would have a big overarching narrative, but I had hoped we'd have plenty of inter-party interactions across each of these stories.
I've got this feeling the review score spread is going to be pretty large.
It just seems as Octopath is trying something different from other RPGs.Nah, I still think reviews will be generally high across the board. It may not be what some wished for but what's there still seems to be really good according to most previews, even Jason's.
The initial shock of no overarching plot probably won't matter much in the long one to this game and it's legacy.
Just like I'm sure some went into BotW expecting a near dungeon crawler like the most recent Zelda's.

Better yet, never take any of it as gospel. Take it under consideration, sure, but come to your own conclusions (positive or negative), which may or may not agree with reviews. I don't think the reviewing class has a particular, infallible grasp on what is and isn't a good game.
It's the experience of playing. Those charecters on the YouTube video aren't my charecters I spent the game playing. I don't know what that Geralt did, I don't know if he was the hardass or the Geralt who gave money to the needy. I don't have a connection to that charecter.
I wonder if the game warns you that you are entering the last battle for a character or something. Is there like 8 different endings?
I've got this feeling the review score spread is going to be pretty large.
So wait 8 characters but 4 hours each story? that kind of blows... and i guess your main character cant be swapped out? I feel like so little story per character with no over arching plot will make little attachment for the characters....do the other characters chime in on other people's story? Or is each individual just voiceless team mates.

We don't know if it's true or not though.Hmmm take this "review" with a grain of salt:
Goes into detail about questions raised here, but I'm not going to post them here.

Lol like seriously.Well, if you're following a guide online, it's not really yours either :/
Someone said that their slack channel of reviewers are frothing at the mouth like it is the second coming of a Chrono Trigger story. I think it's going to be extremely high, especially as it is already ingrained in the mind of people that it is the successor of [Insert your favourite SNES JRPG]
I mean 4 hours seems pretty likely for each story? Given the length of chapters 1 and chapters 2s. Few cutscenes -> Dungeon -> boss -> cutscenes. Each story isn't 4 hours. They're 4 chapters (at least). Octopath Traveler is said to be 60-100 hours long.
.......... I mean, how is that even possible if there's no story overlap? Who's Slack channel?

I've been listening to the OST to get hyped for this game. "The Sunlands" is legit one of the best game BGM I've heard in a while.
I think my main concern with that gamefaq post is why provide a screenshot with a TV and the dude's alt handle on a piece of paper, but then go close up off angle wideshot of the gameplay time?I haven't finished any Chapter 4s but it reads legit to me. Can't say for sure yet tho.
