I'm interested. The PC ones are still a bit too expensive for my interest and the ones where you slide your phone into are a hassle.

Being standalone and Facebook owned does that mean they are gonna make it hard to get porn uncertified content?

If you've got the hardware in your PC for it already I'd MUCH MUCH sooner suggest that you just save your money and get a full oculus for <$400 on a sale or something. The difference between phone VR and real VR is huge.

I probably still won't buy it at 200 as my interest in VR isn't THAT great. It's more of a show family members stuff and mess around with it for a bit type of deal.

I was tempted to buy the rift but I really don't want to hotwire my room with the sensors and it's a rather small room with my PC anyways.

This seems like a nice entry-level to mess around with VR and use to watch porn (hopefully). If I really like it, I can upgrade on the next VR sale.

Maybe i'll wait a few days for reviews though.

kinda crazy they are going from barely any info about it, to suddenly being released. i love when companies do that.

It looks like it only comes with one "controller"? What kind of games can you actually run in it? Can you connect a Bluetooth controller to it for a more traditional setup?

What's the FoV like on this? I Imagine a lot of people want to use this for media but I find the FoV on the Rift and PSVR to small to enjoy watching media in virtual cinemas

Worth pointing out that if you do indeed already have a VR capable PC and are in the US then you can get a full blown PC VR setup for $200 with Windows MR.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this performs. Oculus are streets ahead of the competition when it comes to VR content and a dedicated machine running at 72hz should offer a pretty decent experience.

It can run all Samsung Gear VR games (in fact the developer can also feature crossplay between Gear VR, Oculus Go and Oculus Rift). it seems Oculus Go will have its own library too

Both Oculus Rift and Gear VR has bluetooth controller support, so its very likely you can connect a bluetooth controller to this too. We will have to wait for official announcement tomorrow from Facebook

Ah, very cool! Thanks for the info. I already have a PSVR, so I can't imagine needing this too, but it being completely wireless is very appealing.....

In one way it becomes the Sega Saturn of VR Headsets.
Let that hopefully be the only factor it has in common with the Sega Saturn.

The Gear VR is what led me to buy my Oculus Rift, so I wonder if this will do the same. Using the Rift Touch Controllers instead of the Remote Control thing was just so much better. I'm sure there will still be some cool experiences on this Go though. :)

SD 821? Yikes. That's like 2 generations old already compared to what's in this year's phones.

Performance will be much better than an 821 in a phone as they control the software, form factor and cooling. Samsung phones don't run anywhere near peak clcloc when strapped into the Gear VR because they'd overheat.

You've got to consider this is $200 which includes the cost of expensive high end (better than PC VR) fresnal lenses, all of a modern smartphone's internals and a 1440p display. It shouldn't be a surprise that the internals don't match up to a $800 smartphone. Having said that, with a 72hz refresh, no Android bloatware and full control over thermals, I fully expect this will offer a better VR experience than any smartphone solution.

This is a 3DOF headset, meaning no positional tracking. It only tracks pitch, yaw, and rotation, not X, Y, and Z of your head. If you lead forward with this, it will not detect that motion. 3DOF headsets can cause VR sickness in some people because the disconnect is too much for them to bare.

There is another wireless Oculus Rift headset in the works called Santa Cruz, that will be more expensive but will also do 6DOF. If you're on the fence, waiting for wireless VR, and you don't mind spending more for a better experience, I'd say wait for that one.

This might be the one for me. I don't have a Windows PC. I don't have a reasonable smart phone and I don't intend to ever get one. I have a PS4 but I hate the idea of buying a headset anchored to a console that has maybe 2 years of support left in it.

I'm sure the Santa Cruz will blow Go out of the water, but when, and at what price? I've waited long enough.

Yeah this is sort of how I feel. Can always sell it when Santa Cruz arrives

Gonna wait for impressions and a price under 100$, only really interested in this thing for the high res 360° VR vids, especially documentaries about human mating rituals, PSVR and its media apps suck most of the time in that regard.

I was assuming there would be different models with different capacities--not sure if earlier word hinted toward this or just my assumption based on phone norms. Anyway, I suppose just the $200 model showing up places points to that being it for now.

When it's an entire standalone unit for far less than what just the PC headset goes for, it being more advanced than a calculator seems like gravy.

So awesome that it is releasing tomorrow! I have been closely following the news on this headset since November, for God's sake, and was really getting impatient! Now what I want to know is the release date for Europe and particularly my country, Portugal. Hopefully not too far away!

not sure if 3 degrees of freedom kills it for me or not. Not like I'd be walking around, but basic positional tracking is a big improvement. But Santa Cruz seems way off over the horizon.

So I guess my Gear VR (gen1) with Galaxy S7 combo is technically still better than this thing?

I wish Oculus or Vive did Windows MR, so there's actually quality headsets for a simple configuration. I guess they're probably worried it eats too much of their high end market though.

I need something in between my Gear VR and a solution that requires setting up lightrooms and cameras through 200 usb ports.

Since it is compatible with all Gear VR games, that means Minecraft is available on this. It has cross platform multiplayer with mobile, Win 10, and Xbox One. And soon Switch.

I have the Gear VR because it came with my dad's Galaxy S7 and he didn't want it. But without having an S7 myself, I rarely get the opportunity to use the Gear VR. I'm definitely interested in this.

Will get for VR Porn video

Setting up Vive just for this is a hassle

Fair warning: make sure you've got all your shit together before you watch VR porn. Nothing kills a boner faster than having to take everything off and put it all back on.

Future is promising though:

It is tempting.
The main issues I had with my gear VR is the fuss of having to put my phone in and it overheating.
