Overwatch League Stage 2 Officially begins February 21,2018

The Overwatch League, the first major global esports league with city-based teams, was designed to celebrate the best of the best in the hit Blizzard Entertainment title Overwatch. Our goal is to create the world's premier esports league, where teams and players thrive for years to come.

PRESEASON

Dec. 6 – 9, 2017
The preseason kicks off with a series of livestreamed exhibition matches featuring all 12 teams at the Blizzard Arena Los Angeles on December 6–9. After that, teams will have until Opening Day on January 10 to prepare themselves for competition.

REGULAR SEASON

Jan. 10 – June 16, 2018
Matches in the Atlantic and Pacific Divisions will play out live from the Blizzard Arena each Wednesday through Saturday. Though the season is divided into four stages, wins and losses will count towards teams' full-season records and all-important seeding for the postseason. On the last Saturday of each stage, the top teams will compete for hefty bonuses and the title of stage winner.

POSTSEASON

June 17 – July 28, 2018
After Stage 4 finishes, top finishers in each division will prepare for the championship playoffs, which run from July 11–22. The grand final on July 26–28 will determine which team will be crowned the first Overwatch League champions, claiming glory, the Overwatch League trophy, and a USD $1 million bonus.

ALL-STAR WEEKEND
Aug. 10 – 12, 2018
After the rush of the inaugural season championship, the Overwatch League will kick back for a weekend of festivities as the community's favorite players face off in unexpected challenges.

Stage Final Changes
  • The top four teams will now qualify for the Stage Playoffs, expanded from three teams.
  • While the top-seeded team at the end of each stage no longer has a bye into the title match, they'll now have the benefit of selecting their first-round opponent. They could choose to match up against any of the lower seeds, and they will play their chosen opponent first on Stage Finals Sunday. This choice will be announced once the four participating teams are confirmed and the No. 1 seed is locked in—which may not happen until the very last day of the stage!
The tiebreakers will remain the same for Stage Finals qualification:

  1. Stage-only map differential.
  2. Stage-only head-to-head result.
  3. If two teams are tied in record and map differential without having played one another during the stage in question, qualification/seeding will be decided by a single tiebreaker match, with format and scheduling details to be determined.
Scheduled Time
  • Weekday matches now all start at 4 p.m. PST
  • Saturday matches now start at 1 p.m. PST
  • Stage Finals move to Sundays at 1 p.m. PST
Map Pool and order for Stage 3

  • 1st Map (Assault) - Volskaya, Temple of Anubis
  • 2nd Map (Hybrid) - Blizzard World, Numbani
  • 3rd Map (Control) - Illios, Nepal
  • 4th Map (Escort) - Route 66, Junkertown

Twitch.tv posting - Overwatch League Cheering and League Tokens FAQ

What do I need to do to earn League Tokens while watching Overwatch League on Twitch?

  • Connect your battle.net account with your Twitch.tv account.
    • Please note, Xbox One® and PlayStation®4 system players must also have their Xbox Live or PlayStation®Network account linked to their Battle.net account. Follow these steps to do so
  • Watch on twitch.tv/overwatchleague
  • Watch the Overwatch League on Twitch all season long to get one token for every complete game you watch. Each match between two teams includes at least four games, and there are three matches every night… That's (*counts fingers*) at least 12 tokens if you watch an entire night of OWL.
You can earn Overwatch League Skins by Cheering (Starts February 21st)
  • Overwatch League Skins earned from Cheering are added directly to your Battle.net Account after you have linked your Battle.net account to your Twitch account.
  • You can see the emotes you have unlocked on your "Loot" tab on twitch.tv/overwatchleague. They will be available immediately for use in chat on Twitch.
Where can I keep track of the Bits Cheered and items unlocked during the event?
When Overwatch League Cheering starts on the 21st of February, there will be a tab below the video player on the Overwatch League channel where Cheers and unlocked loot will be tracked.

Will the regional Twitch Channels of Overwatch League support this program?
Overwatch League Cheering will be available on the main English channel, as well as the Korean and French channels. It will unfortunately not be available on the Chinese and Taiwanese channels this season.

How do I Cheer for Overwatch League teams on Twitch?
Click on the Overwatch icon at the bottom of the chat window, select the team's logo, add the number of Bits you want to use and a custom message to Cheer them on.

Can I use the regular Cheer command (e.g. cheer100) on the Overwatch League Channels?
No, regular Cheers won't work on the channels. You can Cheer for any or all of the 12 teams competing in the Overwatch League using their team-themed Cheermotes.

Do the teams receive any financial support from Bits Cheered on Overwatch League?
Overwatch League Cheering is part of a larger partnership between Twitch and Overwatch League that supports the League and players as a whole. Your Cheering helps support this partnership, rather than the teams individually.

FAQs:

I've earned tokens and/or been told that I've won but the tokens are not showing in my Overwatch game—why?

If you're playing Overwatch on Playstation or Xbox then please check that your PlayStation® Network or Xbox Live account is linked to your winning Blizzard account.~ Follow these steps to do so. Once this has been done then the tokens will appear in-game.

I'm buying the Overwatch game next week, does this mean I've lost my earned tokens/prize skin?

Not at all. Once you have the game, then please connect it to your winning Blizzard account (and, if playing on Playstation or Xbox then ensure your PlayStation® Network or Xbox Live account is linked to your Blizzard account). Once this has been done then the Tokens will appear in-game.~

If there's something that's missing or an issue, DM me or @ Me .

For Stage 3 changes it should be current live patch, one of the players said they were scriming with the current Blizzard World checkpoints.

The biggest change for stage 3 will be Sombra

Sombra

  • EMP
    • No longer blocked by small objects (e.g. sign posts)
  • Hack
    • Now goes on a 2-second cooldown when interrupted by damage
    • Now more consistently interrupted when targets break line of sight
    • No longer gains ultimate charge from health pack healing
    • Cast time reduced from 0.8 seconds to 0.65 seconds
    • Now disables the following abilities:
      • Genji—Cyber-agility
      • Hanzo—Wall Climb
      • Pharah—Hover Jets
      • Lúcio—Healing Boost and Speed Boost (turns off current song entirely), Wall Ride
      • Mercy—Angelic Descent
  • Machine Pistol
    • Machine Pistol spread reduced from 3 to 2.7
  • Opportunist
    • Enemy health bars are now visible when health drops below 100% (formerly 50%)
      • Her ability to detect enemies through walls at 50% or less remains unchanged
  • Translocator
    • Duration increased from 15 seconds to 20 seconds
Then you have slight tweaks of doomfist and Mei

Doomfist

  • Hand Cannon
    • Ammo recovery rate increased from 0.8 seconds to 0.65 seconds per bullet
Developer Comments: This change will help Doomfist more consistently be able to use his weapon as part of his combos.

Mei

  • Endothermic Blaster
    • Freeze (slow) duration increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds
    • Weapon alternate fire ammo cost reduced from 25 to 20

There are a number of bug fixes that you can look at, the top 3 patches should be patches going into stage 3.

I never got why australia uses green and gold... would you mind explaining it? As a brazilian it always bothered me a bit since we have to play with australian flag colors[blue/white] when we're not the home team while you get to use yellow and green which are not in your flag colors (please don't take this bad I'm just curious >_<).

I'm not offended in the slightest. I don't know the official reason, but I think it would have come about to distinguish ourselves amongst other Commonwealth teams. The blue, red and white that makes up our flags is basically a remnant of being a country of English colonization. But most countries colonized by England ended up searching for their own colours to set them apart, I would imagine this is mainly for sporting purposes.

For instance our flag is basically the exact same as the New Zealand flag, aside from minor differences. Our official national colours are green and gold, whereas New Zealand identifies as the All Blacks, which is basically black with a touch of white.

Why would this stage be any different.
Dallas is continuing to make incomprehensible decisions (taking Seagull off dva) while Shanghai has made solid improvements to their roster.

I don't think it's a slam dunk, especially since they have basically an entire new team and probably unused to Lan or even working together (language is probably gonna be a barrier).

But they have a real shot.

Stage 3 hype. I've somehow become more invested in watching this than I ever expected. Especially weird since I haven't played the game itself in probably 9 months, outside of logging on to check league tokens for buying skins (which....I'll never actually use, since I don't play? I don't know why I do it either.)

New stage also means it's time for me to try once again to figure out who to root for. Stage 2 went mostly for London and the Glads for me, but the latter lost my support thanks to their baffling lack of flexibility in losing their playoff spot to Philly, and the former...I don't know. I kind of like Spitfire but I don't have any actual reason why, I guess because they're one of the few teams I don't have any active dislike for. Maybe someone else can actually catch my interest.

Hopefully Mickie won't get much play this stage then, I don't like Mickie in this meta tbh.

I want their permenant roster to be:

OGE/Seagull/Rascal (rotates with Akm)/Effect/Unkoe/Harryhook

Sounds like Unkoe will get a long with everyone but the core Envy guys and Seagull :/

If Mickie is making statements like this after literally just one day of practicing with Unkoe.....hoo boy. Going from one team where things were falling apart and calling each other out straight to...another team where things are falling apart and calling each other out. Fantastic.

That being said...this does imply that Mickie and Unkoe did practice together, which means that Mickie's likely to be in the lineup tomorrow and no Sea.Va. Dragons vs. Fuel is going to be fascinating for probably all the wrong reasons.

Should be Seagull/Mickie this week, OGE won't be able to play til next week. Then Seagull is bench because KyKy and Mickie are to close to have Mickie sit.

Figured it would be something like this...But more on the political side and not an mostly sports one... I heard new zealand had a new flag planned, what happened to that? I liked the design :(, Do Australia have plans for somethin like that too?
