I expected a 50% drop for Days Gone, as a FRI release but 100k physical is still good

The drop for MK11 was expected, as a TUE release

100K at retail? I really hope Sony takes that as proof of concept and gives bend the green light for a sequel.

Didn't know Spain was that big, I'm guessing PS4 will finally decline this year.

Is there anyway to get older gens numbers btw?

They shared numbers of old gen consoles in 2018 :-)
Como dato curioso, en 2018 todavía se siguieron vendiendo otros modelos de PlayStation: PS3 vendió unas 190 unidades, PlayStation Vita 530 y PS Vita TV 390.

PS2: 0 in 2018, 1 in 2017, 20 in 2016 and 50 in 2015.

I find it interesting to see that the Pro units are in an upward swing to compensate for the lower base PS4 sales. I think that is a good sign for Pro. However, the Pro release in Nov 2016, so I guess 2017 kind of made up for some of those launch sales. Still nice to see it in an upward trend though.

Interesting split between PS4 and Pro, even lower than 1/5.

Also almost 250k difference in 2018 between Switch and PS4 is actually way bigger than I expected.

These Minecraft numbers are assuredly wrong.

Have some doubts about Smash also (2018 total was higher).

This almost seems unreal. At this point MK11's performance in North America / NPD needs to be strong to compete with Days Gone. I don't think anyone predicted this. I wonder what the conversation is at NR. Obviously the game is nowhere near a flop but in terms of past games in the series this doesn't look good...

Personally I never miss the chance to play MK. I love the series but when that news broke about the grind or MTX I cancelled my preorder. I wonder if this happened en masse or the soft(er) debuts at retail are offset by digital?

Did you miss MK X launch week sales that were on that same post? XI is not that big drop from it (and this is excluding digital sales ). MK just never has been big franchise in Europe. Days Gone beating it in Europe especially outside of UK is not really that weird.

You're mistaken. MK has always been huge here in Europe. Second only to the SF series in terms of sponsored tournaments and sales.

Thanks. We needed this perspective. Perhaps the two audiences (EU/MA) have become slightly misaligned.

Looking at the Xbox store. Its doing fine on EU stores. It was top selling at one moment and now dropped arround top 5. In the US on the other hand its still top paid and even the deluxe is high.

Your initial post somehow suggested that it's underperforming in Europe when its launch retail sales in both UK and Spain are close to those of MK X. With digital it should be higher than MK X. It's selling like MK game sells in Europe. Days Gone beating it is not surprising when you look back at what MK X sold at launch.

It doesn't surprise me at all. Physical seems a little antiquated to me at this point, of course I wouldn't buy any of my other media in physical format. All my friends seem to only buy digital now too. Internet speeds are good in the UK, and it's just too convenient to buy digital these days.

But there is one exception for me: Sony's first party single player games which offer little replayability by design. I do still buy these physical so I can eBay them once I'm done. If it's a game I'd want the revisit in the future then I'd just grab it digitally in a PSN sale.

All due respect but the XBOX store isn't indicative and so worthless to the conversation. MK11 was selling well if we use that metric but in reality moved 800 (eight hundred) copies. Same deal with CD3 in various XB stores but never sold well enough to even register on the actual and official sales list those countries produce so it's not really a metric we can take seriously.

More PR than sales info in my opinion.

Yeah MK11 will be fine. Even on the switch Eshop it's been number 2 behind Cuphead(which is probably selling like crazy and is digital only) for the past couple weeks.

Crackdown 3 never sold great on any store. Not sure where you saw that. Just showing the indication of US and UK difference. For example same happened with State of Decay. Where it was doing okeish on EU stores. But was #1 for a while on the US store and even the Ultimate edition was at #2. And then we saw it won NPD.

Allow me to be more specific. In terms of EU sales the XBOX Store charts are not indicative or reflective of actual EU sales. More so a Microcosm within a microcosm so can not be relied on.

I suppose "most successful launch" depends on what metric they are using.

Most successful engagement?

I would assume it is sales but yeah.

Under preforming at retail? Yes. From the data we have it's clear MK's retail sales are down slightly. But obviously that isn't the full picture because we don't have the digital numbers.

From memory the MKX and MK11 PR seems different. I'm sure they opened with actual sales numbers as opposed to their latest PR which doesn't use any metric. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it because the game is going to sell well regardless.

The doom and gloom talk about MK11 in this thread is bizarre. The game is selling truckloads and digital is more and more important now.
