So damn hot in the UK, we don't have air con - most of Europe is the same.

Using a mini fan and the air is so dry, gonna get a water sprayer and fill it with ice water or something.

To be fair my new pc has bettern temperature control and the fans are still on silent.

You don't even have a portable unit? Been crazy hot in the States this past week (East Coast), can't even imagine having no AC. I'd grab my Vita/Switch and head to nearest Starbucks :P.

Edit: My 8700K is running at around 45 or so max at 4.8ghz. I quite like it. That said, it's 73 degrees in the room so the ambient temperature is not hot at all.

It normally does not get this hot in the UK - we are getting for it for a couple of weeks so this is very usual as we normally have a week at max hence why people don't invest in them.

The problem for me isn't that my PC is loud or overheating, it's simply that it heats up the room too much to play a game. Even with all the doors and windows open, the heat just hangs there as there's so little breeze.

Get a decent standing "tower" fan (so it doesn't take too much room). This shouldn't run you more then $50-60 (well, in US).

I have a 20-inch compact ventilator that blows air at my PC and me. Can't run it forever, though. power cost is too high.

There's no way it's running at that temp when gaming unless you're using custom watercooling.

TIL that europe doesn't have air conditioners? That seems insane to me but I live in florida, a place almost impossible to live in without one. In fact they attribute most of the growth down here in the last 100 years to the invention of the AC.

I can't imagine how people would get through summers in Florida without AC. Talk about heat and humidity. Love going to Florida (even in the summer) but without AC in the rooms that would not be a great trip.

It did cross my mind to buy multiple fans and treat the room like a big PC case, and use multiple fans to push and pull the hot air where I wanted it! But honestly, I'm fine with not playing demanding games for the four weeks this UK heatwave looks like it's going to last. It's nice and sunny outside, my hay fever is manageable, and England are still in the World Cup, so it's all good!

I don't really have a problem with PC overheating even though I have no AC like most of people here in northern Europe. It's all about proper case airflow and cooling. If your PC temps never go above 70C when it's cool, they won't go above 80C when it's crazy hot. 80C is still perfectly fine temp.

Maybe because having a huge bulky device that you'll maybe or maybe not need once a year for a week or two isn't the best investment financially?

MĂ©xico
Central A/C systems are not popular around the world. USA is the one with the most central A/C systems.

Here in MĂ©xico we use ductless split systems in each room, but they are usually turn off. You only turn on the unit on the actual room you are going to stay for a while.

I know lots of people who complain every summer and won'y buy a portable one for ÂŁ150-ÂŁ300 but will spend stupid money on lootboxes and shit.
My portable AC has been going 10 years for ÂŁ300, glad I have it.

Heat wave today in southern California. I have my setup right in front of my window AC. I'm playing Fortnite with my right hand frozen. Help.

We have AC units in the bedroom and the living room, but not the office where the computer is. Computer temps seem fine but my body temps are not! So I've been doing all my gaming down on the living room TV via Steam Link, works great at least for slower-paced games.

I don't really have heat issues with my PC. The big-ass Noctua + misc. fans are keeping the case (Fractal Design Define R6) cooled nicely with minimal sound.

My PS4 Pro, however, does not like the current European climate. Even my Switch is running hot as fuck in docked mode.

Reminds me of the summer where my AC went out, and it was 100+ outside for several weeks.
I had built a new PC and was playing Oblivion. I could only play for about an hour before it became too much. The poor thing sounded like a jet engine, and the room was stupid hot.
But on the bright side, I got really used to hot temps, and now I save money cause I don't use my AC as much.

Yeah I live in Ireland and I don't think I've been in a house with ac,ever. Some offices and public buildings have them

I see lots of people in the poorer rural parts who choose to sit outside half of the day. I think they have AC units too they just...like the heat I guess. It's miserable for me though I can't go outside for a few minutes without sweating and I'm not overweight or anything. It's just that damn hot and humid.

Maybe because having a huge bulky device that you'll maybe or maybe not need once a year for a week or two isn't the best investment financially?

Should think about investing in a small one as it's not going to get any better in our lifetimes with climate change. The hotter it gets everywhere the more prices on those will rise.

Actually, *realigns glasses on nose* it would get colder in northern, western Europe. Our warm weather comes from the gulf stream. Global warming effs up the gulf stream and the warm flow would weaken or stop, meaning the arctic temperatures getting farther south.

They're only a couple hundred bucks - a small price to pay to live and game in comfort. A Window unit is only about the size of 2 or 3 cases of beer, and you can just stash it in a garage or closet during the cool part of the year.

We also find that just the 'fan' function of ours is useful, when we want to blow in some fresh air real quick but don't want to use a bunch of electricity using the compressor to actually cool.

It's 73 Fahrenheit in the room. CPU is at 40-45 Celsius. Temperatures are mixed since we (and by we I mean US and UK too probably) don't normally measure ambient in Celsius :). So, 22.5 degrees Celsius in the room.

We had like 26 degrees Celsius yesterday (in our apartment) when we came back home after work. Luckily it cools down significantly at night and today was not as warm so we are back down to 21 degrees. In the longer hot periods 32 degrees Celsius are not that uncommon though. We do not own a mobile AC, that would cost a fortune to properly cool down everything (the AC, not the power bill). Open windows at night help a lot due to the jimney effect we get with it though. The ceiling vents help as well.

what? The cost of this thing is laughable compared to your PC or a proper AC. Let it run!

No, I get it. At idle or when not gaming, yeah, those temps make sense.

On the one hand that would be real nice here but on the other all this change means florida will be underwater eventually. Hard to appreciate nicer temps then :(

So the real question: Would you rather be in cold weather and have to heat, or in warm weather and have to cool?
I like cold weather more, you can just dress more warmer outside or heat up to a good temperature inside. In hot weather, there is a limit what you could do to get cooler in the outside.

Even today in socal where is 115 out, my PC is a non issue. I have central air and my house is 74 degrees and icy.

But the struggle is real when you don't have AC or heat, I've had those years.

Hasn't rained where I live for over a month now, just mid 20s (celsius) and blue sky every day.

Like others have said playing a game can be difficult in this weather, especially with no AC.

It only gets hot enough for this matter for maybe 3-4 weeks since I live in Alaska. I remember just trying to power through those weeks at first, then bit the bullet and spent $400 on an AC like 10 years ago. One of the best purchases I ever made. Ya I may not use it much out of the year, but over time it was well worth the money I spent.

I had my ac and pc on all day today. I only just got my first gaming pc this February. Sister comes home from work, turns on the ac, not even 10 minutes later the power goes out along the wall where the 3 units are connected. Fuck lol

I should have bought one of those water cooled radiator things especially made for a graphics card. The thing costs 100+ though, ughhh.

One of the few benefits to living in Alaska.

That and the amazing scenery.

Yeah, my AC kicks ass and is super efficient, I rock 68-70 whenever I'm home so my computer is chilling like it's winter in here. But I certainly remember the "good old" days of having to take the side off my case and stick a big ass box fan on the side to keep it cool in the summers. Nothing better than hot ass computers and super loud fans running to immerse your gaming experience...lol.
