This thread is the bane of my existence, I am constantly finding out about games I had no idea about that look good.

Saw a random alert from Wario64 about a collector's edition for the Gothic 1 remake. Haven't heard shit about the game in a while and was kinda hoping it was one of the things that got canceled. Has there been any other announcements or info on it that I've missed?

It's Moonlight Pulse Day!

Got the notification for this launching earlier and was like "What game was that again?". Nice price though and looks cool. May pick it up over the weekend.

Also, kudos for getting S rank on all chapters for Ereban. Think I left it was A ranks on the chapters as like you said, some of the platforming requirements later in the game were made more difficult by the iffy controls and at times dodgy camera. Still a decent debut but those two issues made some of it a bit more trouble than it needed to be.

Publisher Hooded Horse has a bundle that brings the individual price of Manor Lords down to $27 USD.

- Manor Lords
- Against the Storm
- Clanfolk
- Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic

I own all the others, so -33% for Manor Lords on launch day is too damn tempting to pass up.
This is me as well. I was going to hold off for now, but I feel like it's about as good of a price as we'll see for quite some time.

I watched a review from soulsborne seeker that he cleared basically all of it in about 5 hours. I doubt I''ll be that quick, but I will probably wrap it up over the weekend. Still, for that price, for something that's actually novel in the genre, it's a no-brainer pickup imho.

I like how Manor Lords, a very large release, basically has no thread on Era lol

I get it, it's a game type that does not really speak to many people on here, but it makes me laugh.

Cities Skylines has sprawling threads. Era plays a lot of PC games, it's just has really specific/peculiar tastes when it comes to strategy games, and that' fine!

Honestly, I guess that's kind of weird but only because I feel like I see posts about Manor Lords all over the place on Era, lol. Like I think people were mentioning it in Cities Skylines 2 threads and after double-checking to make sure I wasn't missing something, I realized that the two games aren't very similar unless you consider ANY game about building a city from an isometric perspective to be the same. So to me it feels like people are actually pretty hungry for the game.

Lethal Company is another one that was hugely successful and has a tiny OT. It is what it is really.

has anyone else noticed that older games that used to be <$5 on sale are now slowly creeping back up in price? When on sale it's more like $10-15 consistently now Instead

Idk I saw MGSV TPP and GZ twice now on sale for $11.99 on steam. Checked Steam DB and it hasn't been $5 in over a year. This isn't the first time I noticed
I thought it was just me, but yeah. Sales that used to be £5 and less are now £15 and less instead. The discounts are still the same percentage, just they haven't reduced their prices for long tail sales so they don't really reduce. Also AAA games don't go below 50% anymore.

Ya now that others mention it, I've noticed people discussing it. Just found it odd there was no thread, granted I don't make threads, or I'd put one together.

A tale as old as time, really. I feel like the same thing happened way back when we still had flash deals in Steam sales. After those stopped people began to realize that some of those flash discounts never quite came back in the same way, or didn't come back until years later.

I think publishers all have their own pricing strategies and some are harder to predict than others. Like Square Enix for example you know is rarely if ever going to put their SQ Japan stuff on sale for more than 60% off, but their sales are quite frequent, that's an easy one. But other publishers like to change up discounts and do the deepest discounts sporadically. 428 Shibuya Scramble is one where I think the lowest price point happened a few years ago and was routinely that price every few months... until it wasn't. I think in one of the most recent sales it was twice the price of what it used to go for. That's a pattern that's unfolded over a few years.

All of this contributes to more FOMO than I'd like on my part. I will jump on discounts sometimes because it'll be from a publisher that likes to "shelve" back catalog games after a while, either literally (i.e. they no longer get sold) or just retired from sales except for special occasions (hi Koei Tecmo). Sometimes I'll regret it when the game goes even lower, but sometimes I don't.

I am thinking about playing Ni No Kuni 2 on Deck and I was wondering if it is mandatory to play first game (or at least watch story summary)? I really can't play turn based games so I will never play first one but sequel looks kinda interesting but if it's pointless to play it without first game then I will skip it.
In this case Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch is the better game. My recommendation would be to play that one instead of the sequel. (Played and platinumed both on PlayStation myself)

I just finished Immortals of Aveum... yeah, that game. I picked it up in a sale not too long ago. In the past I've ridiculed their design decisions, art direction, technical performance and complete lack of reading the room in terms of what COD players want (not magic) and what magic based FPS players want (not jingoistic "Oorah" garbage).

I've read a few things about the game that had me interested though, such as the game having decent "Metroidvania" design, beautiful levels and competent gameplay.

The game was actually pretty fun to play. The gameplay parts are fairly solid and there's a good mix between exploration/finding secrets and combat. I liked playing the game. Level design is competent and there's the whole loop of getting a new thingamabob and going back to previous levels to explore stuff that was inaccessible the first time around.

I strongly dislike the armor/enemy designs in this game. It's all terrible in my opinion. But the environments are beautiful and really shine when you max out that UE5 goodness. Lumen, Nanite etc. A good showcase game for UE5 graphics on PC. Runs really well (with minor occasional hitches) if you have the hardware to run it.

The worst part is the characters and character writing. It is just awful. A complete and utter loss and I feel mild trauma from having experienced it :(

You could fix 75% of this game's major issues by stripping out the yapping/quipping and intolerable characters - the writing is abysmal on a level rarely seen. It would work so much better as an oldskool boomer shooter with minimal talking. The fact that you can't skip cutscenes will make sure that I never play this game ever again - even when I found its core gameplay to be worth engaging with.

So when I look at what I enjoyed, I don't regret spending some time on this game. But it's no wonder it cratered when they, in my opinion, made a game that absolutely will not appeal to those who'd normally be interested in a magic infused first person shooter. It just too dumb/Oorah for nerds like me who like magic and there's too much magic for people who like military shooters.

Its not just strategy games. Some hugely popular multiplayer games barely get attention either. The OTs for League of Legends, Valorant, and Counter-Strike rarely get new posts.

Also Sons of the Forest. Did it ever get an OT here? I only found a couple of short threads from the early access period when I searched. The game had 412k peak concurrent players which dwarfs most AAA games.

I played it for 15 hours last week and I'm very into it. Can't wait to return to it in a bit.

How does Manor Lords run? PC is 3070 5600X?

Has the dev spoken about DLC? Hopefully it's not Paradox pricy but more like expansion packs.

Finished a run of Crypt of the Necrodancer with two characters, Melody and Bard.
Melody can't attack an enemy right on, but will deal damage to enemies around her, and I think this gameplay is pretty fun.
Bard I thought was supposed to be the easiest character to play because its essentially playing Necrodancer but without having to follow the rhythm of the song. But dang he really gave me trouble, but luckily I did finish a run with him.

Trying Monk right now and he's intriguing, he can't pick up coins from slain monsters or he'll die instantly. The tradeoff is every item in the shop is free, but you can only take one at a time.
