I can't lie, I'm disappointed Sony caved for no other reason than it emboldened the outrage mob. They're already gearing up to go after GoT from the looks of it. Why aren't they going after all the other publisher games that require their own account? It's also wild to me that Arrowhead said the things they said.
Next year all these "principled" individuals are going to happily register accounts with Rockstar for GTA6.

Thank you.

All I can do is laugh....especially since the PSN account requirement was known from day one...and the devs themselves didn't force the requirement due to technical issues.

Absolutely amazing.

"The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward."

So optional linking will probably still happen I imagine.

So with GoT, to review it, you need to buy and play it. What happens when a game just comes out, and tons of people buy it and then immediately refund it under two hours and leave a negative review? Does Steam look into that or no?

I just beat Raji. I had to because it is so similar to my username. Well it was ok and had a very confusing ending.

Probably they allow it. I'm expecting exactly that to happen if TLOUII ever releases on Steam.

I don't think Microsoft is going to push for day 1 ports for a while (besides the usual stuff like COD). Microsoft will probably want to show some illusion of exclusivity for a while longer. Stuff like Indy will probably be Xbox console exclusive for at least a year or so.

Starfield is a prime candidate for holiday 2024 though.

Indy you're probably right, ID's next game I bet will be day one.

I think Got is different, it's just a PC port and Sony owns sucker punch, nobody there is going against Sony. If PS account is still required to play the mp mode at launch, they aren't going back

I'm very glad to see that they caved, like they could do anything else. Sony did the right thing in the end, with a little help from consumers. They didn't really think their requirement through at all. They're selling the game in regions where their decrepit old PSN system doesn't exist. Not a problem on Steam... unless you start requiring account linking.

All the toxic nonsense that happened in the last 2 days turned me so off that I'm done with Helldivers 2 and the Helldivers community. And the amount of toxic far-right gamergate assholes in there is insane. It reminds me why I barely play multiplayer games.

On to the next game. I still need to finish Banishers.

It's soured me on the game as well. A real shame, as I was enjoying it and all the meme's, etc. But...GoT has totally sucked me in and I'd rather play that, so it is what it is.

Tentative plan for Paramount if they do not pursue either the Skydance or Sony deal…still results in gutting the company to reduce leverage.

www.thewrap.com

Paramount's Options Mean Office of CEO Might Win Out

The three-man office of the CEO offered a plan to sell the Paramount lot, slash headcount and maybe even sell Pluto TV.

Chaos posting this in this thread for some to see that paramount as we know it fucked no matter what .
Some saying the Sony deal bad or they don't like consolidation got to see that paramount as we know done no matter what happens .

Hades 2 early access released boys!!!! What a day.

Oh shit. I like Sony in general, but this is not good news for the movie industry. Argh.
Especially as I could see Comcast wanting to join in on the "fun". They competed on the Fox deal before Disney closed it. There was some speculation of a potential Universal (Comcast) and Warner Bros. Discovery merger. If Sony gets Paramount, I could see this becoming more likely, as they'd be the last two major studios unmerged. Prior to the Disney/20th Century Fox deal, it was "The Big Six": Disney, Fox, Columbia (Sony), Paramount, Universal, and Warner Bros. After the Disney deal, it was now "The Big Five": Disney (now owning 20th Century Fox (renamed to 20th Century Studios)), Columbia, Paramount, Universal, and Warner Bros. If the Sony deal goes through, it would be the Big Four: Disney (with 20th Century studios), Columbia (with Paramount), Universal and Warner Bros. If the hypothetical Universal/Warner Bros deal happens, it would be down to the "The Big Three": Disney (with 20th Century studios), Columbia (with Paramount), Universal (with Warner Bros.). That would be worrisome.

If the latter happened, there could be some interesting theme park ramifications, as Universal would have access to all the Warner Bros. IP (they already work with them on the Harry Potter stuff), but Islands of Adventure in Orlando could overhaul their Marvel Comics land and convert it to DC Comics, opening up Disney to utilize the Marvel IP at any theme park east of the Mississippi River (the current deal prohibits them from doing that).

PlayStation: "We have heard your feedback and we'll now reveal the date for future showcases two weeks in advance.

We're still learning what is best for the Era community and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support and the many many hype trains and we'll keep you updated on future plans."

There are so many games available right now. Just move to the next one. It worked for me.
And we get a showcase this month. Good times ahead.

Honestly, I hadn't been playing lately because I was waiting for cross progression and because there was already a lot of drama happening before all of this.

I'm so glad Death Stranding exists in the AAA space. Playing it for the first time and there's nothing like it, the asynchronous multiplayer is a really great touch

Yeah, I really enjoy the game but the community around it after launch and very recently has been dubious and very bad. From the in-game weapon meta stuff people would flip out over, the weird stuff surrounding the Discord (if I remember correctly), them taking the games subject matter too literal and what's happened over the last few days.

I just glanced at that big time Twitter account that only talks about news in the game and I could feel my soul about to leave my body from the sheer embarrassment of what I was reading.

This isn't to say that I think Sony is 100% free of blame but like others have said, these turbonerds should got this outraged over things that actually matter.

There's no reason to bail on Helldivers because of the online toxic community. Just abandon those areas. As always, people would be wise to focus more on actual games themselves than all the online communities, influencers, meta bullshit, etc.

I'm in-between games right now just waiting for ER DLC and Dawntrail next month lol. Currently going through Enderal after a coworker suggested it.
As for the showcase, all I want is GoT2 and I can be happy. Maybe some more Wolverine footage.

Same here. Not like I was playing much these last few weeks anyways. This controversy has shown me that a chunk of people I match up with are really a bunch of immature manchildren. I got my 50 hours of fun and it's time now to move on.

AH is definitely not innocent here as are being presented. Some of the CMs there should really be replaced or reprimanded for their behavior during all this. All in all, I hope AH is able to communicate better in the future for the sake of this game's longevity. But if that doesn't happen, that's also fine because I simply no longer care.

I hope you like it. It's not perfect, but overall it was a unique experience, definitely one of my top ten favorite games ever and I can't wait for the sequel.

Don't worry about that, the matter is closed now.

It's the reason why it became the overall GOTY of 2019. There is nothing like it. And people see it now. It's so damn good.

Yeah it's bad. It went from "funny memes" to yikes. And what I have seen and heard in the last two days is just awful. Then you see what the CEO and the CM of Arrowhead Studios are posting and... you can just shake your heard. Embarrassing.
Whatever. I'm done with this game.

Is there a way to tell if a PlayStation code has been redeemed without actually redeeming it? I entered the code and it shows what it's for, but then I entered an old code I know was used and it also shows what it was for, then says it is already used when you press redeem.
