I've thought for a while now that we should do an official yearly box office contest with prizes and whatnot, and I'm gonna go ahead now and put my money where my mouth is. I'm starting this thread/contest, and putting a $50 gift card to the gaming network of your choice (right now, choices would be Steam, XBL, PSN, eShop, iTunes or Google Play, but I'm all ears if people want to suggest other places) as the top prize. If anyone else wants to donate a prize, they're more than welcome to contact me.
As for the rules, you just list, in order, what you think are going to be the 5 domestic movies of next year. You don't have to list what you think they'll gross, just the ranking. Movies released at the end of the year will have their 2019 grosses count (so an American Sniper-like run would count for 2018). Winners will be determined by a points system. You get 2 points for each movie you pick that ends up in the top 5, no matter its placement. You also get points for picking the correct movie at each position (1 point for picking the correct 5th place movie, 2 for 4th, all the way to 5 for 1st place). In the event of a tie in points, the first tiebreaker will add up the ranking of the movies each person picked that didn't make the top 5, and whomever ends up with the lowest number from that. If there is a tie after that, then for the second tiebreaker will be predicting the opening weekend of a movie releasing between January and March of 2019 at my discretion. Entries are going to be accepted for the next 2 weeks, up until Saturday, January 6th at 11:59PM Eastern Time (4:59AM GMT on January 7th, I believe).
