I'm kinda surprised you save 1.3 lbs by losing the disk drive... would have thought they'd be closer in weight.

It's a chonker, whew. Glad they didn't skimp on the vents, my PS4 Pro is jet engine loud, it will be nice to have a quiet console again.

This PS5 is huge but doesn't appear as rigid and durable as the OG PS3. the fins scare me, don't trust my younger brother.

Is there a way of uploading screenshots?

There appears to be a latch at the bottom of the console for the external SSD. this can be found on the timestamp 1:48:49 on the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XSCoLIkNRE

3 USB A + USB C is very good, can have a external drive permanently hooked up to the back of the console.

Less than 10cm thick for DE, which is the only dimension I cared about for my setup.

This is really massive.
Just checked and... nope, won't fit under my TV, RIP.
I ain't buying new furniture just for a console, so I'll have to think of another way.

PS5: Approx. 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (width x height x depth)(excludes largest projection, excludes Base)

PS5 Digital Edition: Approx. 390mm x 92mm x 260mm (width x height x depth)(excludes largest projection, excludes Base)

"excludes largest projection" ?

So ps5 is 350w. Xsx is 300. To put into perspective the x1x was 245

My Ikea cubes are 13".

Do I put it on top next to the TV, or do I remove one of the cube walls and turn 2 cubes into a rectangle?

Doing the second is going to be a ton of work and a pain in the ass. I'd need to take the TV down and remove every console from the thing, and take it apart.

So 350W...is the power brick still internal? Fucking Sony. This shit better not be hot and loud due to keeping that shit inside. They HAVE to stop doing that shit.

It's a big console! Let's hope it's very quiet.

But, I see it's confirmed to have two rear USB3 ports. That's good! :)

Hmm, those look like clips for the stand to me.

it very well could be, although there is a very mysterious rectangular shape right above it.

There is also a kensington lock thing at the top rear of the console.

I'm wondering when well the high def pictures will be released.

MS is the new console hardware king then? How the XSX is more powerful (apart the SSD), smaller, lighter, uses less power and both have the same price?

I would wait for tests on this. Sony always go for a higher rated PSU versus Microsoft. e.g. PS4 Pro has a 310W PSU but used (per DF test) 150W and Xbox One X has a 245W PSU but used 175W (per DF test).

I would guess both XSX/PS5 will use ~180W running games but PS5 might vary quite a bit with variable clocks.

Could someone post a picture of the backside of the PS5? Some new insight from that?

https://twitter.com/Roger_Larsson/status/1306348423717834752 (with pictures)

Where are the fans?

This thing better make NO noise.

Like, I can hear a fucking mouse fart.

Best case: passive cooling without fans (self circulating + air, small slow fan just to make air move)
Worst case: small internal high pitched fans
Alternative case: big fan mounted flat near bottom (does not feel likely)
