PSA: PS4 digital code from Gran Turismo 7 25th Anniversary Edition CANNOT be upgraded to PS5 ver.

This is disappointing since its one of the reasons I ordered the game.

Of course you can't. The code is only there so PS4 players can buy the anniversary edition, and later on when they get a PS5 they can just use the disc.

I'm guessing because it already comes with the PS5 game disc? Don't want to be selling two PS5 copies of the game for one 25th anniversary price?

That's because it comes with the ps5 disc, so you'd essentially be buying another version for $10.


The ps4 version is digital because the ps5 disc won't work with a ps4, I'm pretty sure. I don't think it reads 100gb blu rays, which the ps4 uses. That was why Horizon was one disc on ps5 and two on ps4, iirc.

I bet it is because the "PS5 upgrade" isn't available on the store yet since the game isn't officially out yet. I've noticed in the past that it takes a bit for the disc PS5 upgrade versions to appear. Come back after release and tell us whether it changed

Perfectly fine to inform others that had the same plan as the op. IMO it makes sense since the buyer is already getting a PS5 discs, can understand the dissapointment though.

There are 3 editions and only the PS4 only version would need to be upgraded. Why get a version that comes with both if you wanted to upgrade?

Nah, they're $10 in most cases. So if you buy the standard ps4 disc or digital version, you can get a digital ps5 version for $10, though you'll still have to use the ps4 disc in order to use it if you upgrade the disc version. The difference here is that the game comes with the ps5 disc version, so the "upgrade" isn't available to this version because it would essentially be giving you another copy of the game for $10 instead of $70.

The free upgrades were done, yes. The OP wants to be able to pay $10 and upgrade their code, quoting Jim as some kind of gotcha
