If you own Red Dead Redemption 2, you have access to the beta.
There is currently no end-date or 1.0 launch date.
Whether there will be a reset when 1.0 launches is undetermined.

Red Dead Online Beta - Week 1

With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns, and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style, and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.

Explore this huge world solo or with friends. Form or join a posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole posses in open world challenges and much more.

-----------

*Rockstar being their usual selves have given out limited info on Red Dead Online. I will update as more info comes in.

Something funny about having a beta for a portion of a game that's already released as non-Early Access.

Will you be able to earn trophies/achievements in this?

I'll be honest with y'all, I don't think it's going to start out well. Maybe even worse than how GTAO started. The circumstances of this sudden announcement with absolutely no specific information as to what online actually entails makes me cautious. Will probably end up playing it for a long time regardless, though.

Really curious to see what the character creator is like. Hopefully it's way better than GTA V's!
This is what I'm interested in seeing most. Hopefully the characters we can make out of it look good. A lot of the NPCs that aren't main characters throughout the game aren't the best looking.

So we're gonna have a gang, right?
Gnags are limited to 8 people, it seems:

Players will create and customize their online characters and “tailor your abilities to suit your play style.” Players will be able to join a posse — up to eight players — and go out hunting and fishing, battle rival gangs, and fight other players in “spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles.”

I just hope that somehow they have integrated the activities into the world rather than the obnoxious loading times GTA had. I'm not getting my hopes up but the loading times totally killed GTA online for me.

Yeah, I'm still expecting the servers to implode even with the staggered launch.

I know they already exist, but I was wondering if you earn them in the beta or if you have to wait for the "full" release.
Misunderstood you, sorry.

I haven't seen confirmation on that, but I think they will work. Doubt we will actually get a Beta build, where these things are usually disabled. Otherwise, everyone would have to start a new character whenever this leaves the Beta phase.

I had a ton of fun playing Red Dead Online back when RDR released. Team Shootout, Grab the Bag, free roam, the co-op missions, and, of course, the horde mode from Undead Nightmare. Use to love unlocking new weapons, characters, mounts, titles, etc. Excited to see how this one compares

We finally get a solid OT title. Tomorrow I'll comfortably be playing the eff out of this.

I've got a feeling this will be a fine multiplayer ground between now and the coming months with the DLC update approach R* has formulated from GTA5. Good times.

I'm traveling for work this week so I won't be ale to hop on until Friday evening. I'm hoping it launches with robust game modes.
