Battle system is a simple classic jrpg turn based system. What makes it shine are the boss encounters, where you actually have to use strategy instead of spamming attack or summons. I think people confuse well designed boss battles with a great battle system. Battle system is fine but nothing revolutionary.
has my favourite battle system of the series and I wish they'd do another ultra fancy modern FF game with it.
Turn based final fantasy battle systems are nothing to write home about. The customization part while likable, the actual combat is often shallow. It's never rich enough with options or challenges from the enemies to stack up favorably with actual tactics games.
