I don't really know what to say about this, the whole game is special and the soundtrack is no different. I love the use of the "Down By The River" motif throughout the whole game, it's an insanely catchy melody. I also really dig how they use the soundtrack dynamically in fights. It never fails when you get the first kill in a tough fight and the horns start rising up. Honestly the best buff in the game!

You have tracks such as the Cent-Omnia Region that just make you stop and listen as soon as you reach the region, evolving area themes like the with the Black Mountain that evolve the higher you get, fantastic remixes of old songs and boss themes such as with Yesterdale - Colony 9 and Redeem the Future ~ Finale. plus bringing back Joanne Hogg with Future Awaits was a perfect way of closure to the Xenoblade Trilogy while also paying tribute the past Xeno games.

Somehow surprised to see SF6 in here. I do like it, but it is nowhere near any of the series high notes

it was a really great year for game music. I haven't even played FF16 yet, but I look forward to experiencing that OST for myself some day. Happy to see OT2 near the top spot. Thanks for conducting the poll and compiling the results!

Good list. FFXVI varied approach definitely stood out for me while Octopath definitely had that old school vibe.

I guess the soundtrack being behind a gacha is bit of a blockade, the real reason I've been giving it a go this year is because the music is highly praised lol

FFXVI was my #1 and Octopath my #2, but honestly they're just about equal to me.

Octopath has more songs that are immediately catchy due to more standard battle themes and area themes that aren't just ambiance like a lot of FFXVI's area themes.

But the FFXVI themes that stuck with me are some of my favorites in the entire medium now. Tracks like Away and Ascension are masterpieces, that's what pushed FFXVI over the edge for me.

Pretty solid list, and great job on putting it together Grex.

I didn't get the chance to vote this year, so I perused the voting thread and saw that Void Stranger got a couple votes. That makes me really happy, the game and its soundtrack hit like a sucker punch. One of my favorite indie soundtracks of the last couple of years for sure and I reckon it would've probably squeezed in here somewhere if more people were aware of the game.

Awesome that Square Enix got the top two spots. Say what you will about them as a company, but when it comes to soundtracks they never miss except for Crisis Core

Square can definitely rest easy with the caliber of the composers working their games! Incredible work from Soken and the team for FFXVI, very deserved. I'm also now 100% a Nishiki fan after OT2, the soundtrack is definitely a new all-time personal favorite.

I haven't gotten to properly play BG3 and TotK yet, but it seems like there is a lot to look forward to with their soundtracks. Pizza Tower's soundtrack is amazing, wow.

Thank you to Grexeno for the insane amount of work that must go into putting all this together. The archive is also such an amazing reference to have for each year.

My petty jabs to FF16 put to one side, it's another solid FF soundtrack for sure, though I expect rebirth will be more to my FF tastes (advantage of remixing of already considered classics aside)
I do wish I liked 16's music more though.

Even Nintendo era slept on that game in general, the soundtrack had no chance from lack of awareness, at least it's on spotify now so I can see track names, when looking for music during the voting all I found was a list of nameless numbered tracks on youtube!

I think Hi-Fi Rush's stage music suffers a bit from having to be not so overwhelming that you can use it to keep track of the beats/rhythm, though yeah it's a small shame that such a music focused game has an OST that just felt kinda "there".

Rebirth likely takes 1st place next year, unless the FFXIV era community is strong enough to overtake the FFVII era community, I really have no idea how that will play out. It's unfortunate that the big awards always snub MMOs though so Dawntrail won't get recognized by them.

Though honestly I wasn't a big fan of how Remake's soundtrack ended up, so I'm not sure what to expect from Rebirth. At least my biggest issue of Remake not sounding like what I want from Midgar won't be a problem without Midgar, but it's a little hard for me to get excited for even more FFVII remixes at this point.

Maybe SE blindsides us with that FFIX Remake finally and we have three to choose from, haha.

Thanks for compiling the results. I'm sad Octopath didn't come first, but second place seems good enough for a game many didn't play. I just wish it had this recognition at the game awards, it would draw more eyes to it.

Haven't played #1 and #2 but I've only heard good things about those OSTs so I'm glad they won.
